Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning are still relatively low, mainly because the learning process is not contextual and student-centered. This study aims to develop mathematics teaching materials with an ethnomathematics nuance using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to improve students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of angle relationships for seventh-grade junior high school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE stages (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects of this study were students of class VII C. The research instruments consisted of expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and a critical thinking skills test. The results of expert validation indicated that the teaching materials fell into the “very valid” category with an average score of 3.54. Student responses showed the teaching materials to be “very practical” with an average score of 3.58, while teacher responses also indicated “very practical” with an average score of 3.7. The effectiveness test showed an increase in students’ pretest and posttest scores, as evidenced by the N-gain results, although only within the medium category. In addition, 50% of students achieved learning mastery above the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM).

Abstract

Islamic education in the era of globalization faces complex challenges characterized by VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) conditions, which necessitate madrasas to transform into competitive institutions without compromising their religious identity. This study aims to analyze the theoretical construction of integrating international curricula and Islamic character values within the framework of transformational leadership in madrasas. Employing a qualitative approach through library research, this study performs a content analysis of relevant primary and secondary literature. The findings indicate that the integration of international curricula, such as the Cambridge standard or the International Class Program (ICP), serves as a fundamental quality differentiation strategy to enhance the global competitiveness of madrasas. Concurrently, the internalization of Islamic character values acts as a cultural and ideological filter, preserving the Muslim identity of students amidst the currents of modernization. The success of this synergistic integration is heavily dependent on transformational leadership, which functions as a cultural architect by providing intellectual stimulation for educators and communicating an integrative vision that unites global academic standards with noble Islamic values. This study concludes that strengthening transformational leadership capacity is a strategic investment for realizing madrasas that are superior, competitive, and consistently religious in the era of disruption

Abstract

The mastery of English tenses remains a significant challenge for many EFL learners, often exacerbated by traditional, abstract pedagogical methods that contribute to cognitive overload and performance anxiety. This study investigates the efficacy of food-based mnemonic acronyms as a cognitive scaffold to facilitate the learning and retention of grammatical structures. Adopting a qualitative research design, the study employs thematic analysis to examine the cognitive and affective shifts in the learning processes of four university students—BAW, PRN, JMM, and SDK—selected based on their diverse academic backgrounds and challenges with tense acquisition. The thematic analysis reveals that these associative tools function as vital "mental hooks," successfully lowering learners' affective filters and enhancing linguistic retrieval. The findings demonstrate a consistent transition from rote memorization and learning fatigue toward spontaneous, accurate, and organized linguistic production. Ultimately, this research provides empirical evidence that integrating creative, association-based mnemonics into the curriculum can improve grammatical fluency and transform the learning experience from a burdensome task into a structured and engaging cognitive process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of students' concept images in constructing proofs and solving mathematical problems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a grounded theory method. This study was conducted at SMA Swasta Pembangunan Galang, with a population of 20 students and a sample of 10 male and 10 female students in grade XI. Research data were obtained through analysis of student work, mathematical proof and problem-solving ability tests, and the interpretation of students' thinking processes across high, medium, and low ability categories. The results of the study indicate that the concept image has an important role in helping students understand concepts, construct proofs, and solve mathematical problems. Students who have a good concept image tend to absorb material more easily, are more active in the learning process, and have a deeper understanding of concepts. In addition, mastery of the concept image also contributes to strengthening students' retention of mathematical material. In addition, this study found differences in the use of the concept image between male and female students, especially in determining the initial steps, using mathematical language, and employing strategies for presenting solutions to mathematical problems.

Abstract

This study examines CapCut usage and its influence on students’ freedom of expression on social media. Freedom of expression refers to confidence, the courage to express ideas, and satisfaction in self-expression. A quantitative descriptive-associative design was used with 100 purposively selected respondents, and data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire. Analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The findings show that editing feature convenience (X1), duration and frequency of use (X2), and usage purpose (X3) have a positive and significant effect on students’ freedom of expression (p < 0.05). The strongest effect appears in the relationship between usage purpose and satisfaction in self-expression (β = 0.640). Regression results indicate that CapCut usage explains 33.1% of the variance in freedom of expression (R² = 0.331). Keywords: CapCut, Freedom of Expression, Social Media, Digital Self-Expression.

Abstract

Education based on environmental awareness plays an essential role in shaping a generation that cares about the environment and sustainability. One effective approach to raising this awareness is by integrating simple science that focuses on the use of natural materials in everyday life. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), which is rich in bioactive compounds like citronella and geraniol, offers various benefits, including antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This program aims to educate students, teachers, and parents on how to process lemongrass into eco-friendly liquid soap, as well as teach practical skills that can be applied in daily life. Through this training, students will not only understand the benefits of natural materials but also acquire skills that can be used to create economic opportunities based on environmentally friendly products. This program also encourages a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by reducing dependence on harmful chemical-based commercial cleaning products. Furthermore, the program aims to introduce the concept of entrepreneurship based on natural products, which can create new economic opportunities at the local level. The implementation of this community service program will involve students, teachers, and parents at SD Negeri 2 Pampangan, Sekincau District, West Lampung. Through hands-on training, it is expected to have a significant positive impact on improving the competence of students, teachers, and parents in effectively utilizing natural resources. Additionally, this program has the potential to serve as a model that can be implemented in other schools across Indonesia, expanding its positive impact and raising environmental awareness among the younger generation.

Abstract

The development of sports massage services in large cities such as Surabaya requires service providers to deliver service quality that meets customer expectations. This study aimed to analyze the service quality of sports massage services in Surabaya using the SERVQUAL approach. A descriptive quantitative method with a survey design was employed. The research sample consisted of 100 respondents who were users of sports massage services, selected using an accidental sampling technique. The research instrument was a SERVQUAL questionnaire comprising five dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, measured using a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the mean scores of perceptions, expectations, and the service quality gap (perception–expectation). The results indicated that all SERVQUAL dimensions exhibited negative gap values, suggesting that customers’ perceptions had not fully met their expectations. The largest gaps were found in the reliability and assurance dimensions (–0.57), while the smallest gap was observed in the responsiveness dimension (–0.52). In conclusion, the quality of sports massage services in Surabaya can be categorized as good; however, improvements are still required, particularly in service reliability and assurance, to optimally meet customer expectations.

Abstract

Karangsari Village is one of the villages that has developed oyster mushroom cultivation through the Shodaqoh Sampah Group. The effectiveness of this enterprise is not only determined by the technical aspects of cultivation but also by community responses toward oyster mushroom cultivation. This activity aims to analyze community responses to oyster mushroom cultivation and to identify internal and external factors correlated with these responses. Community responses were measured through three aspects: cognitive, affective, and conative. The method employed emphasized a participatory approach. Community responses were collected through focus group discussions (FGDs), questionnaires, and interviews. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively to determine the tendency of community responses. The results indicate that community responses in the cognitive, affective, and conative aspects were categorized as very good. Correlation analysis showed that age had a significant negative correlation with responses, while income had a significant positive relationship. External factors, such as access to information and social support, had more dominant positive influence on all response aspects. These findings emphasize that the sustainability of oyster mushroom cultivation in Karangsari Village can be strengthened through improving access to information and enhancing community social support.
