Abstract

This article discusses about the dynamics of interaction and harmony among believers in 41 Christian villages spread over 15 districts in East Java. Although called the Christian Villages, they are populated by Muslims, Catholics, Hindus, and Buddhists. The social diversity is formed through kinship and marriage. The Christian villages, which are called “Pancasila Villages” and “Villages of Diversity”, are melting pots that unite all wisdom, teachings, mythology, and religious traditions. The current qualitative research conducted in Christian villages in Jombang, Malang, and Situbondo go into the following results: first, the esoteric-inclusive interpretation that religion is a way of life that directs its adherents to achieve peace and happiness becomes the basis for religious people to respect each other and guarantee religious freedom; second, interfaith awareness that all religions have an exoteric dimension in the variety of rites to approach God is a basic principle in building harmony; third, the diversity meaning of symbols in the form of values, rituals, and sacred objects are embodied in the interactions of daily life. Religious moderation manifests in tolerance, inclusivism, equality, and cooperation in various cultural spaces. Further researches on interaction pattern and level of religious moderation would be worth investigating.

Abstract

The main product of oil palm plantations is oil palm fresh fruit bunches, however there is oil palm loose fruits which is detached from the ripe fresh fruit bunch or found during the process of cutting at harvest. Biodiesel could be obtained by processing crude palm oil (CPO) with trans-esterification process, however CPO is an important source of food, especially for cooking oil. Biodiesel production as a source of new renewable energy increases, hence it could threat the food security programs. The oil palm loose fruits as an industrial waste were investigated for renewable energy sources to overcome the conflict between the renewable energy program and food security. This research found that oil palm loose fruits consisted about 55% of mesocarp (flesh of fruit) and around 45% of the seed. Increasing delay on processing of oil palm loose fruits led to decreasing of the oil, and processing delay for 12 days resulted in a significant reduction extract yield. Increasing processing delay reduced the iodine value and the study showed that oil palm loose fruits after 12 days have a high level of oil saturation and free fatty acid of CPO was 37%. Esterification followed by transesterification was conducted to synthesis biodiesel. The biodiesel was obtained with yield of 14.5%, and free fatty acid of 1.3%, while fatty acid methyl ester was achieved 70.24%. Hence, we could convert oil palm loose fruits into biodiesel as a strategy to meet the renewable energy requirement produced from non-food crops

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to compare the economic and financial feasibility of electric vehicles (EVs) and conventional vehicles (CVs) in tertiary distribution operations at PT Pos Indonesia, focusing on two operational units: KCU Karawang and KCU Cirebon. Methods: A quantitative comparative approach was applied using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and investment appraisal indicators, including Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Benefit–Cost Ratio (BCR), and Payback Period (PP). Operational data such as fuel consumption, maintenance, insurance, tax, and depreciation were analyzed under a five-year economic life cycle. Results: The findings show that EVs consistently outperform CVs across all major financial indicators. EVs reduce annual energy costs by up to 80%, significantly lower maintenance and tax expenses, and generate positive NPV values in both locations. IRR for EVs exceeds the 5% discount rate—9.35% in Karawang and 11.2% in Cirebon—while BCR values remain above 1. Payback periods for EVs are 4.4 years in Karawang and 4.3 years in Cirebon. Conversely, CVs show negative NPV, BCR < 1, and no recoverable payback period. Implications: The results highlight the strong financial viability of adopting EVs within Indonesia’s logistics sector, supporting strategic fleet electrification for long-term cost efficiency. The findings also reinforce national sustainability policies promoting low-carbon transportation and provide evidence-based insights for future investment decisions in logistics operations.

Abstract

Museum Sandi as the only cryptology museum in Indonesia and Asia has an educational tourism function, but faces challenges, namely low interest and number of tourists so development is needed. The purpose of this study is to identify the typology of tourists and analyze tourist satisfaction with the Museum Sandi tourist attraction. This research uses exploratory quantitative research methods with data collection techniques, namely surveys on 386 tourists, data analysis using descriptive statistics and IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) methods. The results of this study are in the form of a typology of tourists who are dominated by groups of tourists with explorer types, namely tourists with a focus on finding unique tourism experiences and minimal travel planning. The satisfaction analysis using the IPA method produces attractions in quadrant A (top priority), namely the showing of documentary videos on the history of coding; quadrant B (maintain achievement), namely the collection of historical coding objects, the layout of the exhibition space, museum tour activities, and playing Sandi Caesar games by the guide; quadrant C (low priority), namely workshop and event activities, merchandise; and no attractions were found in quadrant D (attractions that were considered excessive). The level of satisfaction with tourist attractions at Museum Sandi, as a whole, is stated in the satisfied. The implications of research in the field produce development recommendations for Museum Sandi tourism managers, namely conducting destination branding by strengthening educational promotional content, developing documentary video attractions, workshops, and regular events, and providing structured tour packages.
