Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital algorithms has significantly changed the way knowledge is produced, distributed, and legitimized in the digital era. This situation raises ethical and epistemological challenges, particularly in religious contexts, where the truth and authority of information have a strong moral dimension. This study aims to formulate an integration between the principle of Qur'anic tabayyun with the concept of algorithmic ethics to build a more critical, transparent, and responsible approach to the use of AI. This study uses a literature study approach by analyzing scientific articles obtained through the Publish or Perish and Elsevier databases, with a publication range of 2015-2026. The analysis process was carried out through the stages of identification, selection, and synthesis of research relevant to the focus of the study. The results show that the integration of the concept of Qur'anic tabayyun into the algorithmic ethics framework is relevant to ensure the process of verification, caution, and responsibility in the management of information generated by AI. This research is expected to provide a conceptual contribution to the development of a technology ethics framework based on Qur'anic values while enriching the discourse on the transformation of the authority of religious knowledge in the era of artificial intelligence.

Abstract

The Center of Excellence Vocational High School Program aims to strengthen vocational education through a work-based learning approach aligned with industry needs. However, empirical evidence regarding its impact on students’ technical competencies remains limited. This study analyzes the impact of the program on hospitality students at SMK Negeri 1 Sijuk using the CIPP evaluation model, focusing on the Input and Product components. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires from 30 respondents, including the principal, vocational teachers, an industry representative, and students. Instrument validity was assessed using Aiken’s V, and reliability was estimated with Cronbach’s Alpha. The findings indicate that the program has achieved strong institutional readiness, with most Input indicators categorized as Very Good. The Product component also showed high satisfaction, particularly in graduate quality and competency certification, suggesting that graduates possess adequate hard and soft skills. However, implementation gaps were identified, particularly in teacher readiness, mindset transformation, and the suboptimal application of Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Industry feedback further highlighted concerns regarding students’ readiness before internships. Overall, the main challenge lies in strengthening instructional implementation and enhancing student preparedness prior to workplace training.

Abstract

Contemporary educational reform in Indonesia has largely emphasized policy design and teacher implementation, yet limited attention has been given to how prospective teachers conceptualize ideal education and interpret systemic challenges. Addressing this gap, this study explores how pre-service teachers articulate their vision of ideal education and critically assess current educational conditions. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected from 33 fifth-semester students in an Islamic Education program through open reflective essays and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The findings reveal five interrelated dimensions shaping prospective teachers' conceptualization of ideal education: (1) learner-centered and meaningful pedagogy, (2) critique of assessment-oriented culture, (3) recognition of structural educational inequality, (4) awareness of professional pressures on teachers, and (5) integration of character education with 21st-century competencies. These themes demonstrate that prospective teachers' perspectives extend beyond classroom technique and reflect an emerging structural and professional consciousness. The study proposes an Ideal Education Framework that integrates pedagogical commitment, structural awareness, and systemic support as interconnected dimensions of educational transformation. This study contributes to the discourse on Indonesian educational reform by repositioning prospective teachers as reflective epistemic actors whose perspectives bridge pedagogical ideals and policy realities. The findings offer policy-relevant insights for strengthening teacher education, promoting equitable resource distribution, and balancing accountability with professional autonomy in national education reform.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) on students' learning independence and conceptual understanding of evolution at the senior high school level. The research uses a quantitative approach with a weak experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consists of Grade XII Science students at a public senior high school in Tangerang, Indonesia. A random sample of 70 students formed the experimental group. Data collection used non-test methods, such as questionnaires for learning autonomy and essay tests for conceptual understanding. The average learning independence score was 79.1, indicating high independence. The average concept understanding score was 57.9, categorized as sufficient. Data analysis for learning independence used the Paired-Samples Test, while concept understanding was analyzed with the nonparametric Wilcoxon test. Results showed the use of BLAST had a significant effect on improving students' learning independence and conceptual understanding, with a p-value of 0.001 0.05.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic kingdoms in the Islamization process in the Nusantara through a literature study approach. The research focuses on three major Islamic kingdoms, namely Samudera Pasai, Aceh, and Mataram Islam, which played significant roles in shaping Islamic civilization in the region. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review design, utilizing data from scholarly articles, books, and relevant academic sources. The findings reveal that Islamization in the Nusantara was a multidimensional process influenced not only by trade and ulama networks but also by political authority and cultural adaptation. Samudera Pasai functioned as an initial gateway of Islamization through trade and early institutional formation, Aceh emerged as a center of Islamic intellectual development and political consolidation, while Mataram Islam contributed through cultural integration and social adaptation. These findings indicate that the Islamization process was cumulative and complementary, involving political, educational, and socio-cultural dimensions. This study contributes to a more integrative understanding of Islamization by offering a comparative framework that connects multiple Islamic kingdoms within a unified analytical perspective.

Abstract

Mental health crises among Generation Z are increasing due to digital, academic, and social pressures that contribute to anxiety, depression, burnout, and low psychological resilience. Psychological Capital (PsyCap), encompassing hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism, has been shown to enhance mental well-being. However, existing PsyCap studies remain largely secular and have not extensively integrated Islamic spiritual dimensions, particularly within the context of Muslim Generation Z. This indicates a conceptual gap in developing contextually relevant mental resilience models. This study aims to develop a theoretical model of Islamic Psychological Capital (IPC) by integrating the PsyCap framework with Islamic spiritual values. It employs an integrative literature review approach, analyzing classical and contemporary books, as well as reputable national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2025, selected for their relevance to PsyCap, mental health, and Islamic spirituality. Data analysis was conducted using thematic synthesis and conceptual mapping to identify structural relationships among key concepts. The findings reveal that PsyCap components correspond conceptually with Islamic values and can be integrated into four main dimensions: hope grounded in raja’ and tawakkal, self-efficacy based on ikhtiar, resilience rooted in sabar and ridha, and optimism derived from husnuzan and syukur. This integration produces the IPC model as a novel conceptual framework explaining the strengthening of Psychological Capital through the internalization of Islamic spiritual values. Thus, this study contributes to Islamic psychology by offering a contextual framework to strengthen the mental resilience of Muslim Generation Z amid modern disruptions.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence (EQ) has emerged as a critical dimension of human functioning, often exerting a more substantial influence on personal and professional success than intellectual intelligence (IQ), as emphasized in the work of Daniel Goleman. EQ encompasses the ability to identify, regulate, and express one’s own emotions, as well as to perceive and respond appropriately to the emotions of others. This study explores the concept of emotional intelligence through the lens of Goleman's theoretical framework and investigates its correspondence with ethical and spiritual values found in the Qur’an. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach, the research focuses on three core components of EQ as outlined by Goleman, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills, and analyzes these constructs in relation to Qur’anic teachings. The findings reveal that the Qur’an embodies principles of emotional intelligence through narratives and moral exhortations, such as persistence in adversity (istiqamah), compassion toward others, emotional restraint, and respectful interpersonal communication. Prophetic stories and ethical injunctions provide illustrative models of emotionally intelligent behavior aligned with spiritual development. This study demonstrates that integrating modern psychological theories with Qur’anic values offers a rich and culturally grounded framework for character education and personal growth. It also underscores the potential of Islamic teachings to contribute meaningfully to contemporary discourses on emotional intelligence and moral development.

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates why formal eco-pesantren cleanliness regulations at MAN 2 Yogyakarta have not consistently translated into students’ everyday ecological behaviour. While Islamic environmental education has institutionalized cleanliness policies, a gap persists between normative rules and lived practice. This research addresses that gap by examining how boarding culture shapes, mediates, and is experienced in students’ cleanliness practices and ecological awareness. The principal argument advanced is that ecological behaviour in Islamic boarding schools is not solely regulation-driven but is constructed through layered meaning-making within micro-level room culture. Design/methods– A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed to capture students’ lived experiences. Fourteen purposively selected participants were involved, comprising one boarding supervisor, one musrifah, and twelve students representing five boarding rooms. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, participatory naturalistic observation conducted over a three-month period, and document analysis of institutional cleanliness policies. Data analysis followed a systematic coding procedure open, axial, and selective coding to identify thematic structures of ecological awareness formation. Findings – The findings reveal a three-layered developmental pattern of ecological awareness. First, most participants (12 of 14) initially framed cleanliness pragmatically in terms of personal comfort and avoidance of sanctions. Second, 10 participants demonstrated an emerging sense of collective responsibility shaped by shared room dynamics and peer regulation. Third, a smaller subset (4 participants) articulated ecological practice as religiously meaningful, conceptualizing cleanliness as amanah, adab, and an expression of the human role as khalifah. These results confirm that Islamic environmental education becomes effective when formal regulations are integrated with students’ lived experiences and room-based cultural interactions.
