Abstract

Pharmaceutical education is one of the preventive efforts to enhance community understanding of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and Gout, whose prevalence continues to rise in society. Mangkupalas Village, Samarinda Seberang, was selected as the location for community service based on the high risk of DM and Gout influenced by dietary patterns, lifestyle, and a lack of health education. The service method included delivering preventive material on DM and Gout by resource persons, followed by a discussion session. Questionnaires were distributed before and after the educational activities. The results showed an average pre-test score of 48.8 and an average post-test score of 60.0, indicating an increase in community knowledge after receiving pharmaceutical education. Additionally, residents showed enthusiasm for implementing healthy lifestyle changes. In conclusion, pharmaceutical education is effective in raising awareness and knowledge about DM and Gout among the community. This community service activity can serve as a continuous effort to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, particularly among the residents of Mangkupalas Village, Samarinda.

Abstract

A workshop on making gummy candy based on stingless bee honey was held in Bangun Rejo Village, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, as an effort to empower the community through innovation in locally processed food products. The aim of this activity was to improve the skills of MSME actors and village residents in producing stingless honey gummy candy, and to elevate the added value of local honey. The methods used included a short theoretical session about the composition of stingless bee honey and the technical process of gummy candy production, a live demonstration, group practice among participants, as well as evaluation via pre-test and post-test on understanding and skills. The workshop was attended by 50 participants from various MSMEs and community groups. Results showed that after training there was an increase in participant understanding by approximately 75% compared to before the training. Furthermore, participants succeeded in making gummy candy with a chewy texture, the natural sweetness of stingless bee honey, and a distinctive aroma that was well accepted in organoleptic tests. This workshop made a tangible contribution to local product diversification, increasing production capacity, and the potential enhancement of village income through signature products based on stingless bee.

Abstract

Resistensi terhadap antibiotik konvensional memiliki tingkat kejadian yang cukup tinggi. Dibutuhkan pengembangan antibiotik baru salah satunya golongan senyawa peptida yang merupakan kandidat yang potensial sebagai agen antimikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis peptida baru dan mengevaluasi aktivitas antimikrobanya. Peptida antimikroba dapat didesain menggunakan machine learning iAMPpred dengan menganalisis nilai tertinggi probabilitas antibakteri dan antijamur. Peptida disintesis secara kimia di laboratorium menggunakan metode sintesis peptida fase padat dan diuji aktivitas antimikrobanya dengan menggunakan metode dilusi untuk menghitung nilai Minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan desain heksapeptida linear Prolin-Leusin-Lisin-Leusin-Fenilalanin-Fenilalanin (PLKLFF) memiliki nilai probabilitas tertinggi dengan nilai probabilitas antibakteri 0,87 dan probabilitas antijamur 0,91. Heksapeptida linear ini berhasil disintesis menggunakan metode sintesis peptida fase padat dengan rendemen sebesar 93,32%. Keberhasilan sintesis dikonfirmasi menggunakan spektrofotometer infra merah dan spektroskopi massa. Senyawa heksapeptida linear PLKLFF memiliki aktivitas antijamur/fungistatik sedang terhadap jamur C. albicans ATCC 10231 dengan nilai MIC 312,5 µg/mL dan tidak aktif terhadap bakteri E. coli ATCC 11229 dan S. aureus ATCC 6538.

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) adalah penyakit autoimun yang menyebabkan peradangan kronis pada sendi yang bersifat permanen. Pengobatan RA ditujukan untuk mengatasi nyeri dan inflamasi serta menghentikan kerusakan sendi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui karakteristik, profil pengobatan dan penggunaan obat DMARD dan antiinflamasi dengan metode analisis deskriptif pada pasien rawat inap di RSU Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda pada priode tahun 2019 – juli 2023. Hasil dari penelitian ini diperoleh 30 data pasien pada tahun 2019 sampai Juli 2023. Berdasarkan data yang didapatkan, persentase terbanyak adalah jenis kelamin perempuan sebesar (83,3%), usia usia 46-55 tahun (46,7%), dan Pendidikan terakhir terbanyak tingkat SD (36,7%). Profil pengobatan didapatkan golongan kortikosteroid sebesar (52,2%) golongan DMARD sebesar (28,2%) dan golongan nonSteroid sebesar (19,6%). Bentuk sediaan terbanyak adalah tablet sebesar 56,5%, dengan pemberian terbanyak secara oral sebesar 56,5% dan secara tunggal maupun kombinasi memiliki presentase yang sama besar yaitu 46,7%. Penggunaan obat DMARD dan antiiflamasi pada hasil penelitian ini tepat pasien sebesar 90%, tepat indikasi dan tepat dosis sebesar 100%.

Abstract

Masyarakat Indonesia telah lama memanfaatkan tumbuhan sebagai alternatif dalam mengobati berbagai penyakit. Di Duampanua, sebuah wilayah di Kabupaten Pinrang, Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, alamnya sangat melimpah. Mayoritas penduduknya adalah suku Bugis yang mengandalkan tumbuhan lokal sebagai obat tradisional untuk menyembuhkan berbagai penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan oleh masyarakat di Kecamatan Duampanua, beserta proses persiapannya dan penggunaannya dalam pengobatan penyakit. Penelitian ini melibatkan survei tumbuhan etnofarmasi yang dilakukan melalui tokoh masyarakat dan individu yang memiliki pengetahuan tentang tumbuhan obat, menggunakan metode purpose sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Duampanua masih mempertahankan tradisi etnofarmasi. Sebanyak 35 keluarga dan 61 spesies tumbuhan diidentifikasi, digunakan baik secara individual maupun dalam ramuan, disiapkan dengan cara direbus dan diperas, dan diadminisrasikan melalui pemberian oral, aplikasi topikal, atau berkumur untuk mengobati penyakit.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Educhem Hydrocarbons based on Green Chemistry using the Discovery learning learning model on the nomenclature of hydrocarbon compounds. This study applies the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Brog and Gall approach. The research sample amounted to 44 students of class XI. The instruments used are validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, pretest posttest questions and student activity observations. The results show that the learning media is declared valid with a validity value of 93.93%, practical with a small scale of 89.76% and 93.53% of a large scale. The effectiveness of the media based on the value of small-scale N-gain 0.71 and large-scale N-gain 0.73. The effectiveness based on student activities on a small scale is 90.71% and a large scale is 92.99%. This shows that the Educhem Hydrocarbons learning media based on Green Chemistry is declared suitable to be used as a learning resource on the subject of nomenclature of hydrocarbon compounds. Abstract

The chalcone compound is a precursor of flavonoid and pyrazoline compounds. Chalcone has two aromatic rings (A and B) and one ?,?-unsaturated carbon atom. Chalcone compounds can be synthesized via the Claisen Schmidt condensation reaction. Chalcone synthesis uses the basic ingredients of alpha tetralone and benzaldehyde analogues. In this research, chalcone synthesis took place for 48 hours at room temperature. Synthetic materials using ethanol solvent and sodium hydroxide catalyst, as well as basic ingredients alpha tetralone, 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 4-methoxybenzaldehyde. Characterization of synthesized compounds using spectroscopic methods, including 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and mass spectroscopy. Characterization results using spectroscopic methods showed that the two chalcone analogue compounds were successfully synthesized with yields above 70%. Both chalcone compounds showed low activity against MCF-7 cancer cells. Molecular docking simulations showed that both chalcone analogues produced energy levels and intramolecular interactions that were no better than 4-hydroxytamoxifen. Keywords:          chalcone analogues, alpha tetralone, cytotoxic   Abstrak Senyawa kalkon merupakan salah satu prekursor dari senyawa flavonoid dan pirazolina. Kalkon mengandung dua cincin aromatis (A dan B) dan satu atom karbon ?,?-tak jenuh. Senyawa kalkon dapat disintesis melalui reaksi kondensasi Claisen Schmidt. Kalkon disintesis menggunakan bahan dasar alfa tetralone dan analog benzaldehida. Dalam penelitian ini senyawa kalkon disintesis selama 48 jam pada suhu ruang menggunakan pelarut etanol dan katalis natrium hidroksida serta bahan dasar alfa tetralone, 3,4-dimetoksibenzaldehida dan 4-metoksibenzaldehida.  Senyawa hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan metode spektroskopi meliputi 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) dan spektroskopi massa. Karakterisasi menggunakan metode spektroskopi menunjukkan kedua senyawa analog kalkon berhasil disintesis dengan rendemen diatas 70%. Hasil pengujian sitotoksik menunjukkan bahwa kedua senyawa analog kalkon tidak aktif terhadap sel kanker payudara MCF-7. Simulasi penambatan molekuler menunjukkan bahwa kedua analog kalkon menghasilkan tingkat energi dan interaksi intramolekuler yang tidak lebih baik dibandingkan dengan 4-hidroksitamoksifen. Abstract

Rice washing water contains carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals that serve as potential substrates for the growth of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). This study aims to isolate and characterize LAB from the traditional East Kalimantan rice variety Beras Mayas. LAB isolation was performed using De Man Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) Agar, followed by successive purification to obtain pure cultures. Identification of the isolates involved macroscopic and microscopic observations, Gram staining, and a series of biochemical assays. Three distinct LAB isolates, designated A, B, and C, were obtained. Isolates A and B exhibited circular colonies with yellowish-white pigmentation and undulate margins, suggesting affiliation with the genus Lactobacillus. Isolate C formed circular white colonies with entire margins, indicating a possible relationship with the genus Streptococcus. Biochemical testing revealed that all three isolates were negative for catalase, gelatin hydrolysis, motility, and indole production. In the Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSIA) test, all isolates fermented glucose, lactose, and sucrose, producing yellow coloration in both the slant and butt portions of the medium. These results suggest that the isolates are homofermentative LAB.

Abstract

Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) seeds have long been utilized in traditional medicine due to their potential therapeutic properties. This study aimed to determine the secondary metabolite profile, toxicity, and antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract and ethyl acetate fraction of rambutan seeds to strengthen their potential application in traditional medicine. The powdered of rambutan seed was extracted with a maceration technique using methanol, followed by fractionation using n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The methanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction were tested for toxicity using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) and for antioxidant activity using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay. Phytochemical screening was performed using standard qualitative method to identify secondary metabolites, which confirmed the presence of phenols, tannins, and flavonoids in both samples. Toxicity testing indicated LCâ‚…â‚€ values of 688.86 ppm for the methanol extract and 825.68 ppm for the ethyl acetate fraction. Antioxidant activity assessment revealed ICâ‚…â‚€ values of 328.61 ppm for the methanol extract and the higher activity for ethyl acetate fraction of 32.78 ppm. These results indicate that the ethyl acetate fraction of rambutan seeds may serve as a promising natural source of antioxidants for therapeutic development.

Abstract

The anti-inflammatory effect of fart plant leaf extract (Paederia scandens L.) on white rats (Rattus norvegicus) has been carried out. This research shows that the effective dose of the n-hexane fraction of P. scandens leaf extract provides the best anti-inflammatory effect on white rats' feet soles. The study used an artificial edema formation method and periodically measured the volume of white mice's legs using a plethysmometer. The doses used for the extract are 100mg/200g BW, 150mg/200g BW, and 200mg/200g BW. The research data was observed visually. The effective dose of P. scandens leaf extract, which has the best anti-inflammatory effect, is 150mg/200g BW.
