Abstract

The transformation of Islamic pedagogy is an imperative for Islamic educational institutions to effectively adapt to the dynamics of contemporary science and technology. This study aims to analyze the forms and strategies of Islamic pedagogical transformation that are relevant in addressing the challenges of educational globalization. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach, this research applies conceptual analysis to contemporary practices and modern Islamic pedagogical thought. The findings reveal that the transformation of Islamic pedagogy is grounded in four fundamental concepts: (1) strengthening critical thinking, (2) applying a multicultural approach, (3) enhancing digital literacy and technology-based da’wah, and (4) implementing Islamic values in addressing global social issues. The identified implementation strategies include: (1) improving the capacity of educators and institutions, (2) redesigning curricula based on global competencies, (3) applying innovative learning models, and (4) reforming Islamic educational policies and infrastructures. The integration of Islamic pedagogy within these four domains serves not only as an adaptive response to the forces of globalization but also as a reinforcement of the continuity of Islamic intellectual tradition that has evolved since the classical era. This study affirms that the revitalization of Islamic pedagogy that is inclusive, critical, and technology-oriented constitutes a fundamental basis for developing a sustainable Islamic educational civilization in the global era.

Abstract

Law Number 16 of 2025 introduces a new governance framework for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia by strengthening the Business Judgment Rule (BJR) doctrine and establishing BPI Danantara as a state-owned legal entity with significant authority over national investments. This study aims to construct the concepts of fiduciary duty and the Business Judgment Rule within the context of Law No. 16 of 2025, focusing on how these regulations can prevent the abuse of authority, as seen in the case of PT Timah. The research method employed is descriptive-analytical, which serves to outline the development of regulations and their implications for improving SOE governance practices within the Indonesian legal system. The findings indicate that Law No. 16 of 2025 establishes a new governance paradigm for State-Owned Enterprises, mainly through the codification of the Business Judgment Rule (BJR) and the creation of BPI Danantara as a state investment superholding with strategic authority. Additionally, this law provides legal protection for decision-makers, provided their actions are conducted in good faith, with prudence, free from conflicts of interest, and in the best interests of the company. Nevertheless, this research highlights that the expansion of legal immunity should be strictly interpreted within the context of fiduciary duty, as SOEs manage public assets and are not solely focused on profit generation.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a core competency in physics learning, yet measuring it is constrained by a lack of psychometrically validated instruments. This study aims to develop and analyze a critical thinking assessment instrument on "Work and Simple Machines" for junior high school students. Using a Research and Development (R and D) approach, a 10-item essay instrument was trialed with 175 eighth-grade students and analyzed using the Rasch Model via WINSTEPS. Results indicate construct validity through unidimensionality (variance explained = 39.3%), item fit, and effective rating scale functioning. Reliability was good (student = 0.79; item = 0.84), with adequate separation values. The instrument is considered feasible, valid, and reliable as a diagnostic tool. This research provides educators with an objective tool to map students' weaknesses, enabling targeted pedagogical interventions and effective physics learning strategies.

Abstract

The Business Judgment Rule (BJR) is a corporate law principle that provides protection to directors for business decisions taken in good faith, prudence, and orientation to the interests of the company. This concept becomes important when the directors' decisions result in losses or alleged criminal acts, as occurred in the case of the acquisition of PT Jalan Nusantara (JNT) by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) which involved three former directors of the company. The problem is how the Business Judgment Rule (BJR) can provide legal protection to directors in the strategic decision-making process, as well as assessing the limitations and exceptions to its application if there are indications of abuse of authority, serious negligence, or conflicts of interest. By using a normative juridical approach and analysis of court decisions, laws and regulations, and corporate law literature, this study shows that the application of the Business Judgment Rule (BJR) requires proof that the directors acted in accordance with fiduciary duty standards, including the duty of care and duty of loyalty. The research findings confirm that the Business Judgment Rule (BJR) cannot be used as a shield if acquisition decisions are made without adequate feasibility studies, deviate from corporate procedures, or carry the potential for state losses. Therefore, this contribution contributes to understanding the limits of legal protection for state-owned enterprise directors and its legal implications for corporate decision-making practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

The evolution of increasingly sophisticated cybercrimes, such as revenge porn, has triggered a paradigmatic tension within the Indonesian criminal justice system between the need for sentencing innovation and absolute adherence to the principle of legality. This research aims to analyze disparities in legal paradigms across court levels, examine the juridical qualification of the penalty for the digital restriction order, and examine the constitutional implications of the cyber norm vacuum. Through prescriptive doctrinal legal research, this study dissects Decision Number 6069 K/Pid.Sus/2023, which affirms Decision Number 96/Pid.Sus/2023/PT BTN regarding the annulment of the additional penalty of revocation of internet access rights in Decision Number 71/Pid.Sus/2023/PN Pdl. The research results indicate that such annulment constitutes an affirmation of legal positivism, rejecting judicial activism, even though, sociologically, this penalty is crucial for preventing recidivism. Juridically, this penalty lacks a basis of legitimacy in the EIT Law, the Old Penal Code, or the New Penal Code, thereby creating a legal vacuum (rechtsvacuum) that harms victims. The research concludes that formal adherence to the principle of nullum crimen, nulla poena sine lege without accompanying legal reform has injured substantive justice. Therefore, it is recommended that legislators immediately undertake legislative modernization by adopting digital rights restriction penalties as a constitutional sentencing instrument to ensure the justice system’s responsiveness in tackling crime in the era of technological disruption.

Abstract

This study addresses the low level of students’ critical thinking skills in chemistry learning, particularly in the context of thermochemistry, which is an abstract and complex concept to visualize. To overcome this challenge, Project-Based Learning (PBL) was integrated with the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach. The research aimed to examine the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills and to explore their responses toward the PjBL-STEM model. A quantitative experimental method was employed with purposive sampling of 11th-grade senior high school students. Research instruments included a critical thinking test based on Facione’s indicators, observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The findings revealed a significant improvement, with the average score increasing from 47% in the pre-test to 74% in the post-test. Students showed better performance in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. Furthermore, responses toward the PjBL-STEM model were highly positive, with 67% of students agreeing and 21% strongly agreeing with its implementation. These results suggest that PjBL-STEM provides a practical, interactive, and contextual learning experience, thereby enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in chemistry education.

Abstract

This research empirically examines the philosophical dimensions of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), namely ontology, epistemology, and axiology, to develop an ethical foundation for the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in elementary schools. This study is urgent due to government policies mandating Coding and AI (KKA) lessons and the limited philosophical PAI studies on AI. The study employs an interpretive phenomenological qualitative approach at Az-Zahrah Islamic Elementary School in Palembang, which adheres to Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah (specifically Ḥifẓ al-Dīn and Ḥifẓ al-‘Aql). Data were collected through interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis. The main findings are structured by dimension: 1) Ontologically, PAI positions AI as an inanimate tool (a non-divine creation), maintaining Ḥifẓ al-Dīn (rejecting AI authority) and Ḥifẓ al-'Aql (viewing AI as a human intellectual extension). 2) Epistemologically, PAI establishes the Qur'an and Hadith as the ultimate ethical filters for AI algorithmic information and emphasizes citing sources (plagiarism is considered ghishsh). 3) Axiologically, PAI uses the principles of maṣlaḥah (greatest good) and mas'uliyah (full user moral responsibility) as a moral compass, rejecting technological determinism. The PAI philosophical framework successfully serves as an adaptive and critical ethical basis for AI, aiming to produce a competent, reflective, and responsible generation aligned with Islamic values.

Abstract

Social and environmental responsibility is a vital aspect of sustainable business practices, where companies play a significant role in fostering social progress while also protecting the environment. In Indonesia, the importance of implementing social and environmental responsibility is becoming increasingly clear, spurred by rising public awareness and regulations that promote the active participation of the business sector in social and environmental initiatives. This article examines how social and environmental responsibility is integrated into Indonesian business practices by reviewing relevant legal foundations, such as Law Number 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies. It also assesses how companies are executing social and environmental programs. The methodology used in this study is normative, focusing on the analysis of social and environmental responsibility as outlined in the Limited Liability Company Law. The findings indicate that, despite some progress, there are still challenges, including limited transparency, insufficient accountability, and inconsistencies in reporting. To strengthen social and environmental responsibility in sustainable development in Indonesia, greater collaboration is needed among the government, the business sector, and the community.
