Abstract

This study examines how debts incurred by a wife without her husband's knowledge affect marital harmo ny and how such actions may serve as valid grounds for divorce. Divorce is a complex social phenomenon influenced by various factors, and financial secrecy is one of the key triggers of marital conflict. When a wife secretly takes on debt, it can create distrust, emotional strain, and significant financial pressure that disrupt the stability of the household. Using field research methods—including interviews, observations, and document analysis—this study interprets the findings through established theories to understand the psychological and emotional consequences of such actions and their impact on divorce decisions. The results show that, according to Imam al-Shafi‘i, a wife who incurs debt without informing her husband undermines family well-being and violates the principles of trust and shared responsibility in marriage, highlighting the importance of financial transparency and open communication in maintaining marital harmony

Abstract

Indonesia's Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) faces a critical clash: rapid technical progress is stifled by a rigid legal paradigm, creating an operational dualism between bureaucratic formalism and digital agility. This manifests as a “law avalanche,” inter-ministerial fragmentation, and “legal friction,” eroding innovation, trust, and certainty. This study aims to analyze the dynamics and formulate an operational model for synergizing responsive legal principles with SPBE governance in Indonesia's digital context. Employing a qualitative exploratory case study, data were gathered via semi-structured interviews with 10 key stakeholders (policymakers, implementers, academics, CSOs, consultants) and document analysis, analyzed thematically using the Braun & Clarke model. The research identifies operational dualism and regulatory proliferation as the root cause. The solution is a Responsive Trilogy Model: (1) a Cross-Ministry Co-Regulation Protocol for joint standards; (2) ‘Compliance by Design’ integrated into agile development sprints; and (3) a Rapid Regulatory Dispute Forum with binding 30-day decisions. Its success hinges on cultivating “regulatory champions” hybrid law-technology experts. The study concludes that true synergy requires a paradigm shift from static “law as a fence” to adaptive “law as a platform,” establishing responsive law as the core architectural principle for legitimate and effective digital-era governance.

Abstract

This article critically examines the concept of Qur'anic feminism through the lens of Riffat Hasan's views on gender equality. The discussion focuses on three key areas: first, Hasan's methodological approach to interpreting verses related to feminism; second, examples of his interpretation of these verses; and third, a critique of his interpretive methodology. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach rooted in library research, this study draws on various texts, manuscripts, and literature relevant to the topic. The findings reveal that: (1) Riffat Hasan adopts an empirical and idea-normative approach to interpret verses, aiming to challenge conventional readings; (2) Hasan's interpretation of the term Qawwamun in Surah al-Nisa' 4:34 suggests that the role of financial provider is not limited to men, thereby promoting a more equitable view of gender roles; and (3) Hasan’s interpretations have been critiqued for a lack of traditional exegetical training, leading his approach to sometimes be seen as overly textual and lacking depth in interpretive method. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on gender equality within Islamic thought by analyzing Hasan’s work and its implications for modern interpretations of gender roles in the Qur'an.

Abstract

Coping Mechanisms of Cadets in Government Training Institutions in Facing Academic Demands and Semi-Military Discipline: a Qualitative Study Abstract This study aims to analyze the coping mechanisms used by cadets at civil service academies in facing academic demands and semi-military discipline. The educational model at civil service academies requires high physical, mental, and emotional readiness, which can potentially cause stress if not managed adaptively. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with ten cadets from the Indonesian Civil Service Polytechnic. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis techniques through three stages of coding (open, axial, and selective). The results of the study show that cadets develop adaptive and dynamic coping strategies by combining problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Academic, physical, social, and job responsibilities are the main sources of stress they face. Cadets tend to reappraise the pressures they experience positively, viewing them as challenges to overcome. The results of the study show that cadets develop adaptive and dynamic coping strategies by combining problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Academic, physical, social, and job responsibilities are the main sources of stress they face. Cadets tend to reappraise the pressures they experience positively, viewing them as challenges to strengthen their character and professionalism. Factors such as responsibility, optimism, and emotional intelligence are important components that strengthen the effectiveness of coping. These findings reinforce the Transactional Model of Stress and Coping (Lazarus & Folkman, 1984) and adaptive coping theory (Carver, Scheier, & Weintraub, 1989), and confirm that coping in a semi-military educational context not only functions as a response to stress, but also as a mechanism for character building and mental resilience among cadets.

Abstract

The phenomenon of using sound horeg—a high-volume loudspeaker system with a dominant bass—has become a trend in various regions of Indonesia, particularly in entertainment events and public gatherings. While it provides entertainment value and cultural appeal, its usage often triggers noise pollution, public disturbances, and social conflicts. In response to this phenomenon, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of East Java issued Fatwa No. 1 of 2025, which provides ethical and religious guidelines regarding the use of sound horeg. This study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach with a library research method, focusing on the content analysis of the fatwa through the perspective of maslahah mursalah. The aim is to examine the content of MUI East Java Fatwa No. 1 of 2025, analyze the maslahah mursalah considerations underlying its issuance, and assess its social and religious implications within society. The findings indicate that the fatwa explicitly declares the use of sound horeg as haram, since it generates more harm than benefit. Nevertheless, the fatwa provides certain exceptions, namely when the use of sound equipment is conducted in a reasonable manner, without excess, and without causing harm to the surrounding community.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a primary non-communicable disease and a significant public health challenge in Indonesia. Community-based health promotion is essential for its prevention and management, particularly in areas with limited healthcare access. Objective: This community service project aimed to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a combined intervention hypertension specific exercise and health education in lowering blood pressure and enhancing knowledge among at-risk community members. Method: The project was conducted in Kampung Bayur, Tangerang, involving 25 participants. It followed a three-stage approach: preparation (community assessment and planning), implementation (two sessions of structured hypertension exercises and interactive health education), and evaluation (comparison of pre- and post-test knowledge scores and blood pressure measurements). Result: The intervention resulted in a notable increase in participants' knowledge, with the average score rising from 69.6 to 83.2. Additionally, a consistent reduction in average blood pressure was observed, from 143.48/88.56 mmHg to 137.72/84.56 mmHg, with all participants showing a decrease. Conclusion: The combination of targeted health education and regular hypertension exercise proves to be an effective, non-pharmacological strategy for blood pressure control at the community level. This approach supports health promotion, prevention, and community empowerment, and is recommended for sustainable implementation with local health cadres.

Abstract

This research examines the constitutional legitimacy of imposing sanctions on Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel engaging in LGBT conduct within the framework of Indonesia’s Pancasila legal state. While global discourses often advocate for full inclusivity, this study argues that the restriction of such rights in the Indonesian military context is constitutionally valid and strategically justified. Employing a normative legal research method with statutory, conceptual, case, and philosophical approaches, this study analyzes the intersection between human rights, public morality, and defense strategy. The findings reveal three fundamental justifications. First, Pancasila as the Grundnorm and constitutional morality positions religious values and public ethics as legitimate bases for limiting human rights, as explicitly authorized by Article 28J(2) of the 1945 Constitution. Second, under the doctrine of military necessity, the military operates as a lex specialis institution where individual liberties may be curtailed to ensure unit cohesion, command authority, and operational readiness. Third, jurisprudential evidence from military courts demonstrates that sanctions are not directed at sexual orientation as a status, but rather at specific sexual misconduct that disrupts the chain of command and institutional integrity. The study concludes that the dismissal and penalization of LGBT conduct in the TNI are not arbitrary violations of human rights, but proportional measures to uphold the nation's constitutional identity and national defense requirements.

Abstract

Studies on idealism, realism, pragmatism, and existentialism in education often remain descriptive, leaving their implications for managing learning in Islamic educational institutions insufficiently operational and difficult to evaluate. This study aims to (1) analyze the epistemological and pedagogical characteristics of the four philosophical streams, (2) examine their implications for learning management functions—planning, organizing, leading, and controlling—and (3) formulate an applicable integrative framework from the perspective of Islamic education management. The method is qualitative library research using a critical-comparative review, employing concept reduction, thematic categorization, and argumentative synthesis. The findings propose an alignment matrix of goals–process–assessment–school culture: idealism strengthens value orientation, realism emphasizes evidence and measurability, pragmatism structures meaningful learning experiences, and existentialism safeguards learners’ agency and responsibility within ethical boundaries.
