Abstract

Human error is not the sole cause of an accident because the cause of an accident is multifactor (multiple causes), but it is estimated that its contribution is very large in an accident. According to the theory of the Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFACS), human error shows that there are 4 (four) levels of failure. In this study the focus is on factors that are below the level of unsafe officer action that can cause errors, including the personal factors of the officer (age, education, years of work), work demands (duration of work) and the mental condition of the officer (mental workload). ATC officers requires discipline, high concentration, accuracy to ensure the safety of users of aviation services. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between age, education, years of work, duration of work, and mental workload with human error occurrence towards ATC officers at the Jakarta Air Traffic Services Center - Airnav Indonesia. This study used cross sectional research design. Sampling method used in this study was accidental sampling with the Lameshow formula and obtained as many as 72 people. NASA-TLX and questionnaire were instruments of this research. Based on statistical tests of the relationship with Rank Spearman (p value = 0.024) showed that there was a relation between mental workload and work duration with human error occurrence. The researcher advised the company to create an effective crew resource management (CRM) among the ATC officers on duty as error management.

It was recorded that 989 health workers died from COVID-19 worldwide or 0.37% (989 out of 270,426). During the COVID-19 pandemic, PPE wasn’t only used by healthcare workers, but also was used by the public. Such conditions force some healthcare workers to saving on the use of PPE or use PPE improperly. This makes them become a vulnerable group to be infected. Aim: The purpose of this study was to analyse the compliance behaviour of health workers using PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method:The method used in this research is a literature review, conducted online through several trusted websites such as ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Cambridge Core, Scopus, PubMed, EBSCO Host and Google Scholar. This study analysed 14 international articles that were selected according to the criteria by PRISMA's protocol. Results: Many healthcare workers haven’t complied with using PPE. By using L. Green's behaviour theory, several factors influence this behaviour. There’s a perception of the experience of healthcare workers about the perceived discomfort due to inappropriate PPE’s design. Also known that some healthcare workers who haven’t received training on the use of PPE. Those who have certain respiratory conditions will be aware that they are in a high risk of being exposed to the virus. Therefore, they will be more aware to use PPE. Besides, it was also found that natural environmental conditions can become obstacles in health behaviour.

Abstract

According to H.W.Heinrich, 88% of occupational accidents are caused by unsafe actions, 10% are caused by unsafe conditions and 2% are caused by other factors. Unsafe actions are human failure in following the instructions and work procedures that caused work accidents. This study aimed to analyze the relation between work fatigue, supervisors, and co-workers with unsafe actions in manufacturing sector workers. The method used in this research was a literature study, conducted online through several trusted websites or internet sites such as JSTOR, SpringerLink, Scopus, ScienceDirect, EBSCOhost, Cambridge core, Emeraldinsight, and Google Scholar. The research was conducted on 16 articles consisting of 11 national articles and five international articles. The results of the research conducted on workers in the manufacturing sector showed that four out of the five articles showed there was a relation between work fatigue and unsafe actions, work fatigue could cause a decreased alertness, concentration, and motivation so that workers tend to do unsafe actions. Eight out of the nine articles showed the relation between supervision and unsafe actions, supervision could foster compliance and awareness of the importance of occupational safety and health for themselves, other workers, and the work environment. Three out of the four articles showed there was a relation between co-workers and unsafe actions because co-workers could be a role model for other workers in taking action while they’re working.

Abstract

Safety driving is a way of driving based on safety standards by implementing safe driving behavior that is to anticipate dangerous situations and reduce the risk of accidents and traffic problems. The majority of traffic accidents occur due to human error, this is caused by lack of driving discipline and drivers' ignorance of safe driving procedures. Therefore we need an approach to determine the driving behavior in the causes of accidents that occur caused by human error. The purpose of the study to analyze the relationship between individual characteristics, predisposing, enabling, and reinforcing factors with safety driving behavior in Bus Rapid Transit Trans Semarang corridor I drivers. The research used quantitative research by analytic survey with cross sectional study approach. The population of this study is all the drivers of the Bus Rapid Transit Trans Semarang Corridor 1 with total 43 people. The sample in this study used a total sample population, the sample in this study amounted to 43 people. Data in this study were colleted by using an angket. Based on the chi-square statistical test, the result shows the variables that related with safety driving behaviour are knowledge (p-value = 0.010), attitude (p-value = 0.021), safety driving training (p-value = 0.008). and variables unrelated to the safety driving behaviour is the working period (p-value = 0.098), driving duration (p-value - 0.988), rest time (p-value = 0.069, vehicle condition (p-value = 0.094), motivation/family support (p-value = 0.780). This research suggests providing safety driving training to all drivers of Bus Rapid Transit Trans Semarang to increase driver knowledge and awareness of driving safety, and the driver's abilities and skills.

Abstract

Unsafe behavior is a failure to apply work rules and procedures, resulting in work accidents. Work accidents in the aviation are not spared from work accidents that can be experienced by technicians when carrying out aircraft maintenance and repairs. The development of the aviation industry in Indonesia is not proportional to the availability of the number of flight technician workers, resulting in an increase of work-related accidents experienced by flight technicians. Therefore, an approach is needed to determine the behavior of technicians that cause work accidents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between worker characteristics (knowledge, attitude, and working period) and supervision with unsafe behavior in PT X hangar maintenance technicians. This research is quantitative research with cross-sectional study design. The sample in this study were mechanic technicians shift I totaling 120 people who were obtained by random sampling. Data in this study were collected by using a questionnaire and the results were tested using the chi square test. The results of this study indicate that there is a correlation between attitude (p-value: 0,000) on unsafe behavior in PT X aircraft maintenance technicians. Meanwhile, there was no correlation between knowledge (p-value: 0.388), work period (p-value: 0.694), supervision (p-value: 0.305) and unsafe behavior. From the results obtained, hopefully management can add topics to safety briefings and improve the safety information media.
