Abstract

This study analyzes the educational ideology contained in the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 10 of 2025 concerning the 8-Dimensional Graduate Profile using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. This approach was chosen to uncover the ideological dimensions and power relations hidden behind the national education policy text. The research data were obtained through a study of official documents, specifically Article 4, which outlines the eight dimensions of the graduate profile. The analysis shows that the document's linguistic structure is both prescriptive and normative, employing lexical patterns that emphasize the formation of ideal subjects with religious, nationalist, and productive characteristics. At the level of discourse practice, this policy reflects state dominance in determining the direction of education, while at the social level, it functions as a tool for reproducing national ideology through the formal education system. These findings indicate the existence of a hybrid ideology that combines conservative values based on morality and religiosity with liberal values based on rationality and creativity. Thus, this policy is not simply a technical guide, but rather an ideological text that demonstrates the dialectic between state control and efforts at intellectual liberation in the Indonesian education system.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the construction of gender-based violence in the SLC texts. Gender denotes social roles (not founded on biological or physiological differences) of women and men as perceived by persons or collectives within a given society. The SLC, being a realization of linguistic experience, serves to actualize social roles deemed suitable or unsuitable for women and men. This study concentrates on: 1) The building of gender-based violence derived from the systems of transitivity, modality, and social context in SLC, and (2) The development of precautionary strategies against gender-based violence in SLC. This research utilizes Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory, concentrating on Halliday’s systems of transitivity, modality, and social context. The methodology used is descriptive qualitative. The data and their sources comprise conversational texts in the SLC collected from public spaces in Mataram City. Data gathering was performed via observation and note-taking, employing non-participant observation and transcription techniques. The tools and analytic procedures are grounded in Halliday’s systemic functional perspective. The results reveal that gender-based violence in the SLC, based on the transitivity system, originates from verbal processes (psychological and physical consequences); based on the modality system, it emerges from a high likelihood or assuredness of action; and based on the social context, it proceeds from patterns of speech participants and discourse devices. The outcomes of this research offer thorough details concerning attempts to prevent gender-based violence in the SLC among the Sasak ethnic community of Lombok Island.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms of metaphors and symbols and to interpret their Sufi meanings in the Markum Sasak text, Pupuh Sinom stanzas 1–21. The Markum text is a form of Sasak suluk literature that represents the spiritual journey of human beings toward ultimate knowledge and ma‘rifatullah (gnosis of God). This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a semiotic approach supported by conceptual metaphor theory, hermeneutics, and Sufism studies. The data consist of words, phrases, lines, and stanzas in the Markum text that contain Sufi metaphors and symbols. Data were collected through textual study and note-taking techniques, while data analysis was conducted through metaphor identification, symbol classification, semiotic analysis, hermeneutic interpretation, and Sufi meaning construction. The findings reveal that the Markum text contains metaphors of journey, breath, spiciness, light, and self-surrender. In addition, the text incorporates symbols related to figures, spiritual teachers, place names, nature, animals, mosques, body-space, dhikr, and divine realities. These metaphors and symbols collectively form a system of signs that represents the stages of suluk (spiritual wayfaring), tazkiyat al-nafs (purification of the soul), spiritual etiquette toward teachers, dhikr, fan?’ (self-annihilation), and ma‘rifah (gnostic knowledge of God). Therefore, the Markum text functions not only as a traditional Sasak literary work but also as a culturally grounded medium for Sufi education and spiritual instruction.
