Abstract

Economic and social inequality in Indonesia has become an increasingly serious problem in recent decades. This article aims to examine the causal factors and impacts of such inequality through a literature review. The results show that economic and social inequality is caused by various interrelated factors, such as differences in access to economic resources, the quality of infrastructure and public services, the taxation system and government spending, the quality of human resources, as well as the political situation and economic policies that are less favourable to the interests of the lower classes. These factors reinforce each other and create a vicious cycle of poverty that is difficult to break. Widening inequality is detrimental to social stability, economic growth, and human development. Widening inequality can trigger social conflict, hamper purchasing power and aggregate demand, and make it difficult for the poor to access basic services such as education and health. Efforts to reduce inequality are crucial in order to maintain social harmony, promote more inclusive economic growth, and realise justice and prosperity for all. Therefore, comprehensive and sustainable efforts are needed to address the root causes of inequality, through policies that promote equitable economic and social access, improve the quality of human resources, and reform the tax system and government spending that is more pro-people. Only then can Indonesia realise a more just and equitable development for all people.

Abstract

This literature review explores the intersection between law and economics in a social context, focusing on the dynamics and interplay between the two fields. The study found that a strong and fair legal system is an essential prerequisite for efficient economic operations, creating certainty, protecting property rights, and resolving disputes effectively. In addition, proper regulation of the law can foster innovation and sustainable economic growth. On the other hand, changes in the structure of the economy, such as globalisation and technological development, demand adaptations in legal regulation to face new challenges. In addition, law plays a crucial role in reducing socio-economic inequality through specialised legislation and wealth redistribution policies, which aim to create social stability and justice. In conclusion, the interaction of law and economy requires an inclusive and adaptive approach to ensure sustainable and equitable economic development, taking into account changing social needs.

Abstract

The development of digital communication technology has brought significant changes in communication patterns between employees and management in the world of work. This article explores the impact of technology on efficiency, the quality of interpersonal relationships, and employee well-being. Digital communication offers various advantages such as increased efficiency and ease of collaboration across geographies. However, challenges such as information overload, reduced depth of personal interactions, and privacy issues have also emerged as a consequence of the digitalisation of communication. To maximise the benefits and reduce the negative impacts, organisations need to develop balanced communication policies and provide adequate training to employees in the use of technology. With the right approach, digital communication technology can serve as a powerful tool to support productivity and well-being in the modern workplace.

Abstract

Strengthening the resilience of global supply chains is a critical aspect in coping with increasingly complex and frequent external crises and disruptions, such as pandemics, climate change, and political instability. Companies are required to implement proactive strategies such as the use of advanced technology and good risk management to improve visibility and speed of response to disruptions. In addition, supplier diversification and increased operational flexibility are required to reduce dependence on single sources and enable rapid adaptation to changes. Effective collaboration and communication with all stakeholders is also a determining factor in improving supply chain resilience. The implementation of these strategies is expected to create a supply chain that is more resilient, adaptive, and able to face various external challenges.

Abstract

This study examines risk mitigation strategies implemented in global supply chains through a comprehensive literature review. By identifying the best practices and most effective approaches, this study reveals that diversification of suppliers and resources, the use of advanced technologies such as big data, IoT, and blockchain, as well as the development of contingency plans and continuous audits are key pillars in managing supply chain risks. The implementation of these strategies not only increases a company's operational flexibility and transparency, but also enables faster and more accurate responses to potential disruptions, thus ensuring operational resilience and sustainability in the face of dynamic global challenges.

Abstract

Palm oil is a strategic commodity that is greatly influenced by the efficiency and integration of marketing functions throughout the value chain. This article examines the role of eight marketing functions—purchasing, sales, transportation, storage, financing, risk insurance, quality standardisation and classification, and market information—in maintaining quality and increasing the value of palm oil products through a systematic literature review. The results of the analysis show that each marketing function has a specific contribution, ranging from determining the quality of initial raw materials, maintaining the physical and chemical integrity of products during distribution, to strengthening differentiation and premium pricing through sustainable standards and certification. The integration of these functions has been proven to increase value chain efficiency, shorten marketing channels, and improve the distribution of added value for farmers and other actors along the chain.

Abstract

This research presents a literature review on budget efficiency in political campaigns, particularly in the context of electoral campaigns. The research aims to identify elements and best practices that can improve political campaign budget efficiency. The literature reviewed shows that careful planning, technology utilisation, community engagement and transparency practices play an important role in effective budget management. Strategic planning enables appropriate resource allocation, while technology provides cost-effective solutions to reach voters. In addition, collaboration with various stakeholders and the use of volunteers can significantly reduce expenditure. Transparency and accountability in budget management are also key factors that can increase public trust in candidates and political parties. This research concludes that budget efficiency in political campaigns is not only related to cost savings, but also an indicator of prudent and ethical management, which ultimately contributes to the success of the campaign and increases public trust.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of tax treaties and tax havens in international tax avoidance through a literature review of regulations and their implications. Tax treaties, which were originally designed to avoid double taxation and provide legal certainty, are often abused through treaty shopping, whereby multinational companies exploit loopholes in tax agreements to aggressively reduce their tax burden. Meanwhile, tax havens provide an environment with low tax rates, financial secrecy, and minimal requirements for substantial economic activity, thereby facilitating profit shifting and asset concealment. The symbiosis between tax treaties and tax havens amplifies the potential fiscal losses of developing countries due to tax base erosion, distorted capital allocation, and global competitive imbalances. This study highlights the importance of strengthening anti-abuse regulations, harmonising international policies, and fostering collaboration among tax authorities to mitigate the negative impacts of cross-border tax avoidance practices and ensure the sustainability of government revenue.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of tax reform through the Tax Harmonisation Law (UU HPP) on the growth and compliance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia using a literature review method. The literature review indicates that tax exemption policies for MSMEs with annual turnover of up to IDR500 million, a reduction in the final income tax rate to 0.5%, and simplification of tax administration and digitalisation have encouraged increased tax compliance and business growth. These reforms provide significant fiscal incentives, simplify reporting, and expand the tax base, enabling MSMEs to allocate more resources to business development. However, challenges remain in terms of tax literacy and administrative readiness, particularly among micro and small MSMEs. Overall, the HPP Law is deemed capable of creating a more inclusive and equitable tax system for MSMEs, although sustained efforts are needed in education and simplifying administrative processes.
