Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia as a compound country has a lot of differences of culture especially in the matter of beliefs. This phenomenon may occur some conflicts including interfaith love prohibition. Ajari Aku Islam has been represented a conflict of interfaith love prohibition in the case between Islam and Confucius. In order to compare the differences of Islam and Confucius, the author employs Charles Sanders Peirce communication semiotic theory. The comparison of these two religion will be begun by marking the culture and religion signs that has been shown in the movie Ajari Aku Islam. The form of the data is verbal signs and visual signs. Then, the signs will be divided into three categories consist of icon, symbol, and index. Lastly, the divided signs will be analyzed with Peirce’s semiotic triadic process. The analyses have found some differences between Islam and Confucius especially in term of the place of praying, the tools used in praying, and the way of praying. Besides, the author also found some culture differences consists of the way of dressing and the way of speaking. Keywords: Islam, Confucius, Semiotic, Signs ABSTRAK Indonesia sebagai negara majemuk memiliki begitu banyak perbedaan budaya khususnya pada masalah kepercayaan. Fenomena ini mampu memunculkan konflik-konflik termasuk larangan cinta beda agama. Film Ajari Aku Islam telah menggambarkan sebuah konflik cinta beda agama yakni antara agama Konghucu dan Islam. Dalam membandingkan perbedaan antara agama Islam dan Konghucu, penulis menggunakan teori semiotika komunikasi Charles Sanders Peirce. Analisis perbandingan antara agama Islam dan Konghucu akan dimulai dengan menandai tanda-tanda keagamaan dan kebudayaan yang diperlihatkan dalam film Ajari Aku Islam. Data yang digunakan merupakan tanda verbal dan tanda visual. Kemudian, tanda-tanda tersebut akan dibagi menjadi tiga kategori yakni ikon, simbol, dan indeks. Terakhir, tanda-tanda tersebut akan dianalisis menggunakan proses semiotika pada segitiga triadik Peirce. Hasil analisis menemukan beberapa perbedaan antara agama Islam dan Konghucu, khususnya pada beberapa elemen diantaranya seperti tempat ibadah, media peribadatan, dan cara beribadah. Selain itu, penulis juga menemukan beberapa kebudayaan yang berbeda seperti cara berpakaian dan cara berbicara. Kata Kunci: Islam, Konghucu, Semiotika, Tanda

Abstract

This research aims to comprehend the meaning of syi‟ir (song) “Li Khomsatun” in the context of five role model personalities by using Roland Barthes‟ semiotics theory. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis. The results show that Syi'ir li khomsatun in Javanese language recently used by Indonesians as a prayer to prevent the COVID-19 virus outbreak, evidently it contains a deep meaning about five worthy personalities deserving to become role models by describing the exemplary characters. Moreover, this article reveals other arguments such as Qs. al-Ahzab: 33, hadith thaqalayn, hadith kisa' and a brief interpretation of Surah Al-Insan verses 7—10 to support the worthiness of the five noble persons or Ahlulbait of the Prophet as a role model. He also becomes an intermediary to avert human being from miseries in the world and in the hereafter.

Abstract

This research discusses the narrative discourse structure in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction movie script. Pulp Fiction (1994) Pulp Fiction is known as one of the best crime and drama genre movie. Pulp Fiction directed by Quentin Tarantino. Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avery wrote the script. The movie presented many drops of blood, fights, and gun in the scenes. This movie also provides us with many “nigga” words. The researcher used Gerrard Genette’s narrative discourse theory. This study was conducted into two research problem; 1. What are the kinds of voice that consist in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction movie script? 2. What are the kinds of frequency that consists in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction movie script? The result of this research shows that in this movie there are two kinds of voice. Moreover, there are some data that show frequency that exist in Quentin Tarantino’ Pulp Fiction movie script.

Abstract

This study intends to reveal the satire about Jihad concept misunderstanding which causes negative image for Islam that caused by irresponsible British Moslems. They act without sufficient religious understanding and only out of lust to get rid of the unjust infidels towards minority Moslems. So, with the analysis of the signifier-signified of Saussure's semiotic theory, it’s hoped that satire can be conveyed, understood and aware by the parties who become the targets of satire. This study has a significance for eliminating misunderstandings about Islam which are always associated with terrorism, namely stupid acts that only harm fellow Moslems. This study will use a qualitative method because it related to phenomena in society. In this study, film as the object where the data are collected and supported by literature studies. The results from 20 data contain signifier and signified of radical Moslem’s act who misunderstanding about Jihad then satire that is intended to prove those who deviate are not acting in the name of Islam, terrorism is a stupid act and British government must be more fair to minorities. It’s recommended for further studies to examine Islamophobia in Asia with poster as the object the uses qualitative method and Peircean semiotics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengkonstruksi keberlangsungan dan perubahan (continuity and change) kehidupan sosio-religius-kultural masyarakat Kampung Adat Dukuh Cikelet Garut, Jawa Barat.  Teori yang digunakan dalam artikel ini adalah teori[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]  Perilaku Sosial Robert Byrne, dia  membagi ke dalam lima faktor penyebab prilaku sosial pada diri individu masyarakat ataupun masyarakat secara komunal, yaitu (1) prilaku orang lain (2) proses kognitif (3) variable-variable lingkungan (4) konteks budaya, dan (5) faktor biologis. Tulisan ini dapat menyajikan kesimpulan sebagai berikut. Pertama, sebagai bagian dari kampung adat, masyarakat Kampung Dukuh tetap memegang teguh kepercayaan dan tradisi yang mengakulturasikan Islam dan tradisi setempat, yang mengandung nilai kearifan lokal yang bercirikan budaya Sunda. Mereka melaksanakan ritual keagamaan, meski dengan tingkat intensitas yang beragam sesuai dengan kapasitas masing-masing. Secara komunal, mode kelembagaannya lebih menjunjung norma adat. Kedua, tradisinya dilakukan secara turun temurun, meskipun terdapat beberapa pergeseran tradisi keagamaan, baik  disebabkan faktor internal maupun eksternal

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas tentang sosok Usep Romli HM sebagai pelaku sejarah dalam dakwah Islam. Usep melihat celah dakwah yang berbeda. Beliau mampu menghadirkan risalah kenabian dengan baik dalam kesusastraan Sunda yang kemudian menjadi celah untuknya berdakwah. Teori Orang Besar atau The Great Man Theory dari Thomas Carlyle digunakan dalam penelitian ini, di mana menempatkan Usep Romli HM sebagai pahlawan, individu yang berpengaruh, berkarisma, cerdas, hikmat, dan memiliki keterampilan berpolitik. Sebagai diskursus kesejarahan, penelitian ini ditempuh melalui metodologi penelitian sejarah: Heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Atas telaah tersebut, maka Usep Romli HM layak diapresiasi dan disematkan sebagai tokoh sejarah dakwah Islam dalam wacana budaya Sunda.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explain about some forms of al-Qur'an recitation activities in the tradition of marriage among Sundanese-Muslim communities, with the diversity of moments, personal, ways, and religious meanings. The problem is related to several things, namely 1) the forms of recitating the Qur'an carried out by the Sundanese-Muslim community in the tradition of marriage; 2) religious meaning of the tradition of Qur’anic recitation in the Sundanese-Muslim community; 3) the change of Qur’anic recitation activities influenced by internal and external factors. The theory used is the theory of the rite of Radcliffe Brown and the commodification of Islam from Greg Fealy. The domain of this research is in the study of cultural anthropology with an ethnographic approach. The results of this study indicate that the diversity of the tradition of the reciting the Qur’an carried out adjusted to the moment, economic level, individual abilities, and the environment. Sustainability and change occur because of the internal and external influences in implementing this tradition. From the point of view of meaning, this tradition shows identity, social stratification, and the commodification of the Qur’an recitation in the public sphere. This research has implications for the importance of increasing the quality of ritual understanding, rather than merely formality formal rituals.

Abstract

This study entitled “The Views of Parents and Teachers on The Provision of English Learning for Children” which aims to reveal the views of parents and teachers about giving English language learning to children. The research method used by the researcher in this study is a qualitative research method by conducting observations and interviews with parents and teachers about giving English language learning to children. The results showed that the majority of parents and teachers strongly agreed with the provision of English learning to children because they experienced a period so that it was easier to understand English lessons compared to adults. Others feel ashamed because the children are still too early to learn the lesson. The provision of English language learning has a positive impact on children in addition to communicating; English can also make children able to compete in the world of work in the future.

Abstract

Diet is one of the determining factors in human health, but in fact the Muslim community in Indonesia still does not understand the concept of eating patterns in the Qur'an. Many people still eat excessively, it is proven that Indonesia is the 2nd largest producer of food waste in the world. There are also those who consume forbidden foods or drinks such as liquor and drugs and like to consume less nutritious foods. Al-Qur'an and Hadith as the main sources of Islamic teachings have taught a good diet for physical and spiritual health. This research is a qualitative research with library research method that examines how the concept of eating patterns in the Qur'an. The data collected were analyzed using an interpretive approach with the maudhui interpretation method. The results of the study indicate that a quality healthy life can be obtained, among others, by protecting a diet that is not excessive, eating nutritious food, according to what the body needs, and eating halal thoyyiban which has been prescribed by Islam.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discuss the conception of history, used by Shaykh 'Abdu al-Rauf al-Singkili in interpreting verses that have historical content in the Tafsir of Turjuman al-Mustafid. This research uses a Qualitative approach through literature-based methods. The results of this study show that the Conceptual Historicality used by Shaykh Abdu al-Rauf al-Singkili is a concept of Historical Law, focusing on a series of events that explain the state of the past as an object of empirical study, and as a comparison (Ibrah) to the present, in it has a simple nature, unique elegance., and is fixed. This research recommends further research related to the conception of history in this Tafsir of Turjuman al-Mustafid in view of Historical Science with an approach to the Islamic science group.
