Abstract

This research explores the relations between the so-called normative Islam-as laid down in the canonical texts of the Qur’ān and hadīth-and the ways in which these normative ideas, perceptions and values are expressed in rituals in the society concerned. It pays particular attention to the ways in which the latter forms of ritual expression entail a culturally specific adaptation and valorization of the trans-cultural representations laid down in these Islamic text corpora and to the ways in which-according to local understanding and exegesis-these ritual actions generate a reproduction of the social relationships and their moral foundation in the society concerned. In-depth discussions had been conducted with the participants about the symbols, meanings and values, which they attach to these actions as to their effectiveness in achieving particular social, religious, political and moral aims besides a systematic survey of relevant published sources has complemented this field research. The meticulous examination of the village ritual calendar shows that three different perspectives on this social and moral order prevail: a traditional adat perspective, the historical Islamic perspective, and the modernist Islamic perspective. This attributes to Aneuk Jamee a complex dynamic socio-religious identity within the field of Indonesian cultures.

Abstract

Children with disabilities indeed are encouraged to have equal status in education with the normal ones. However, some domains may face particular challenges. Our article explores the insights of current inclusive education in eastern Aceh – Kabupaten Aceh Timur, Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang, and Kota Langsa – by discovering the views of 104 participants (students, teachers, principals, and officials of educational departments) on inclusive education. By applying a qualitative approach, we integrated a descriptive method through the distribution of questionnaires and interviews. Further, we analyzed the data in data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing stages. All students – both regular and disabled - had no problems sharing the same classroom, including the teachers and other school facilities, although some disabled thought that their school should have specific needs for them. Meanwhile, the officials had no strong power to support the development of inclusive education, while several schools may model inclusivity based on their school policy. Maximizing existing special education teachers, socializing the disabled’ needs to earn the rights for education within communities, and establishing special education centers at the university level, may contribute to the lack of inclusive education development in those regions.

Abstract

Abstract

Dengan demikian, penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan aksesibilitas dan kualitas layanan di Perpustakaan Kota Banda Aceh, sehingga dapat menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih inklusif bagi penyandang disabilitas.ABSTRACTThis study aims to evaluate the physical accessibility and services for individuals with physical disabilities at the Banda Aceh City Library, in line with Mayor Regulation Number 14 of 2017 concerning Inclusive Development Planning. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD), referring to IFLA standards and the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 30 of 2006. The data analysis techniques employed in this study include data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the physical facilities at the library, such as parking areas, ramps, stairs, and restrooms, do not meet the expected accessibility standards. Additionally, the media formats provided, such as books and reading materials, are not suitable for individuals with disabilities, creating barriers to optimal utilization of library services. This study emphasizes the importance of improving physical facilities and providing inclusive media formats to enhance accessibility. Furthermore, the library needs to involve the disability community in the improvement and development of services to meet the needs of all users. Thus, this research provides recommendations for enhancing accessibility and service quality at the Banda Aceh City Library, creating a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.

Abstract

Waste management is a very serious environmental problem faced by Indonesian society due to the increasing amount of waste generated in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine or evaluate waste management at Makale Market and its impact on the community in Tana Toraja Regency. This study used several methods: cluster technique was used to group traders who would become samples, the Slovin formula was used to determine the number of samples to be studied, and descriptive analysis was used to analyse waste management at the market by market managers, trader behaviour, and the impact on the surrounding community by collecting data through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results of the study show that waste management at Makale Market does not yet meet the criteria (SNI 19-2454-2002) in terms of containment (organic and inorganic waste is still mixed), collection (there is a collection schedule), transfer (transfer is carried out every day), management (no recycling is carried out), and final disposal (the equipment used is adequate). The impact on the community (discomfort) requires the Tana Toraja Regency Environmental Agency to provide more full support for waste management, especially at Makale Market in Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Edamame (Glycine max L. Merrill) is a functional food rich in plant-based protein that can serve as an alternative to animal protein sources. Its potential has led to the development of edamame yogurt, a lactose-free fermented product suitable for individuals with lactose intolerance. However, the characteristic “beany” flavor of soy-based products tends to reduce consumer acceptance. To improve sensory quality, taste, and nutritional value, guava (Psidium guajava L.) juice was incorporated into edamame yogurt formulations. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of varying guava juice concentrations on the organoleptic, physical, chemical, and antioxidant properties of edamame yogurt. The experiment employed a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments with five replications, corresponding to guava juice concentrations of 0%, 15%, 25%, and 35%. Statistical analyses were conducted using One-Way ANOVA followed by the Duncan test to identify significant differences. The findings revealed that guava juice addition significantly influenced sensory attributes, physicochemical characteristics, and antioxidant activity. The 15% guava juice formulation was most preferred by panelists based on taste, aroma, and texture evaluation. The 25% guava concentration yielded optimal physical and chemical quality, as indicated by syneresis (2.19%), lactic acid content (0.016%), and a pH value of 4.0, consistent with Indonesian National Standards (SNI). Moreover, the highest antioxidant activity (83.55%) was recorded in the yogurt with 35% guava juice concentration. Overall, these results demonstrate that guava juice supplementation enhances both the functional and sensory qualities of edamame yogurt, offering a promising innovation for plant-based fermented foods. Future studies should optimize the use of stabilizers such as gelatin or carrageenan to improve textural consistency while maintaining the nutritional and bioactive benefits of guava fortification.

Abstract

The humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) is one of the high-value commodities in Indonesia. Humpback grouper production from the cultivation sector has not been able to reach the expected production volume. The Floating Net Cage method is the latest technology in humpback grouper cultivation, but obstacles from weather and environmental factors are very large. The author is interested in conducting research on the stress levels of humpback grouper cultivated in the innovation of net cage cultivation media placed in concrete ponds with different stocking densities. The results showed that water quality parameters were no longer the main factor causing stress in fish raised in net cage cultivation media in concrete ponds. This was shown from the results of the SPSS model output with multiple linear correlation analysis with a significance value of OCR at 0.538 and SOD at 0.112. Stocking density treatment was more influential as a cause of stress in grouper fish at a significance value <0,05.

Abstract

Before Islam was introduced into Aceh, many people there still believed in animism or dynamism or Hinduism or Bhudhism. Some parts of those beliefs still affect the local Acehnese cultures even after most of the people have become Muslim. This study describes the ritual of Khanduri Blang, as an acculturation of the people from Reubee village and surrounding villages in Pidie District between their previous cultures with their new Islamic culture: The study also looks at the reasons why the people from Reubee still perform these rituals in recent times. A religious anthropological approach was used to get plenary data about the subject. The data was collected using observations, interviews, and study of related literature. The results showed that the people living in that area performed the rituals as they believed that they would prevent dangers and harm from ghosts and spirits that live around their rice fields. Even though the people have been acculturated to Islam they still perform these ceremonies since they have been handed down as part of their culture and they still do not have sufficient comprehension of the tenets of Islam. Furthermore, the involvement of their local religious figures in the ceremonies convinces the people that these rituals do not contradict their Islamic beliefs. Then too, the use of local traditions as a medium for introducing Islam brought the understanding that such rituals were part of the traditions of Islam.
