Abstract

SMAN 4 Kerinci (Senior High School) is one of favorite schools which has potential to conduct guidance and counseling service optimally. This is supported by its conducive condition and the sufficient number of the teachers. All of the teachers have qualification in Guidance of Counseling education. In addition, this school has adequate facilities. Unfortunately, the phenomena in the field indicated that the guidance and counseling service was not effectively conducted. This research was intended to describe the implementation of Guidance and Counseling service in that school. This was a qualitative research which applied phenomology approach. The informants of the research were the school fellows including headmaster, vice headmaster, guidance and counseling teachers, subject teachers and classroom teachers. The data where collected through observation, interview and documentation study. To check the trustwortiness of the data, there were four conducted (1) credibility, (2) transferability, (3) depedability, and (4) conformability. The data gathered where analyzed by (1) data reduction, (2) displaying the data and, (3) drawing conclusion/verifying. The research findings showed that the Guidance and Counseling service was not yet conducted optimally at SMAN 4 Kerinci. The cooperation between Guidance and Counseling Teachers with other school fellows was not yet established. This research concluded that the conducive atmosphere, the availability of sufficient qualified teachers, the adequate number of school fellows and the availability of sufficient facilities unless they were supported by good cooperation among related parties, the Guidance and Counseling service would not be optimally accomplished. Based on these conclusions, it was suggested: (1) the Guidance and Counseling teachers to be professional in carrying out their duties and responsibility and to be albe to cooperate with other school fellows. and (2) the school fellows to understand their roles in implementing Guidance and Counseling activities at school and be albe to get involved actively in.

Abstract

Career maturity is readiness of individuals to deal with the tasks of the development of his/her career. Student’s development career task is make his/her education as a career direction. This study aims to describe career maturity of the Faculty Education Universitas Negeri Padang students class 2014, according to decision making style and gender. Population of this research is 336 students of Faculty Education Universitas Negeri Padang, with samples are 183 students choosen by proportional random sampling. The instruments used in this research is the career maturity scale and Assessment of Career Decision Making of Harren (1979). The results of this research are: 1) student’s career maturity are different significantly according to decision making style, 2) student’s career maturity aren’t different according to gender, 3) there isn’t interaction of decision making style and gender in explaining student’s career maturity.

Abstract

The aims of the research were: (1) producing prevention module of premarital sexual behavior on Senior High School students who were proper according to the experts in order to be used by guidance and counseling teachers/counselors, (2) describing the function of the module to prevent the students from premarital sexual behavior. This research was a development research which was conducted by using ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Research subjects consisted of three experts and twenty three guidance and counseling teachers/counselors. The result of the research shown that the module, the research product, is appropriate to be used to prevent the students from premarital sexual behavior and can be used by the students as well as the guidance and counseling teachers/counselors in preventing the students from premarital sexual behavior.

Abstract

Inferiority is one of psychological disorder of student’s obesity. One of the approach that can be used to reduce the inferiority of student’s obesity is Adlerian group counseling. Theorically, Adler discusses physical condition as a factor causing inferiority of humans. This study is aimed to: (1) describe the inferiority of student’s obesity before and after being given the Adlerian group counseling; (2) effectiveness of Adlerian group counseling to reducing inferiority of student’s obesity. This study is conducted by using quantitative method, that is quasi experiment, the one group pre-test post-test design is used. The selection of subjects in this study using non-random sampling technique with purposive sampling method. The subjects were 12 student’s obesity with high and medium levels of inferiority. This study was conducted in SMPI Khaira Ummah Padang from October to November 2014. The instrument used Likert scale. The analyzed was using non-parametric statistical technique that is Wilcoxon’s test. The findings of this study indicate that: (1) there is the difference of inferiority of the student’s obesity before and after being given treatment of Adlerian group counseling. Inferiority of student’s obesity has descreased after being given treatment; (2) Adlerian group counseling effective to reducing inferiority of student’s obesity. Adlerian group counseling can significantly to reduce inferiority student’s obesity, beneficial to further reduce the problem of inferiority due to other physical conditions

Abstract

This research was started from the presence of some students that had difficulties in learning and had learning outcomes under minimum criteria and there was symptoms  that teacher’s guidance counselling and subject teacher had less contribution to help students overcome in learning difficulties. The type of this research was descriptive. The population of this research were all the guidance and councelling teacher and subject teacher at SMAN Se-Kota Pekanbaru, they were 47 guidance and councelling teacher and 979 subject teacher. Data analysis was by using percentage technique and respondent performance level. The results of research showed that: 1) The role of teacher’s guidance counselling in overcoming difficulties student learning in high school in Pekanbaru city is included the category quite well, 2) The role of teacher’s lessons in overcoming difficulties student learning in high school in Pekanbaru city is included the category quite well and 3) The collaboration of  teacher’s guidance counselling with teacher’s lessons is included the category quite well, while the collaboration of teacher’s lessons with teacher’s guidance counseling in overcoming difficulties student learning in high school in Pekanbaru city is included the category quite well. Keyword: Peran, Guru Bimbingan Konseling, Guru Mata Pelajaran, Kesulitan Belajar

Abstract

The background of this research was motivated by there were students who have not the goal and a clear career plan. The purpose of this study were (1) describe students career planning is sighted socio-economic status, gender, and majors, (2) examined differences in students career planning of socio-economic status of high, medium, and low, (3) examined differences in students career planning of based on male and female, (4) examined differences in students career planning majoring in science and social studies, (5) examined differences in career planning of students based on interaction of between socio-economic status, gender, and majors. This research is a comparative descriptive study using 2 x 2 x 3 factorial design. The population of this research was a class XI students at SMAN 7 Padang with 258 students. Sample this research consistsof 160 people and selected by proportional random sampling technique. The instrument was using career planning scale reliability value of 0,751. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that: (1) students career planning in terms of socio-economic status, gender, and majors at the high category, (2) there is no significant differences in career planning ofstudents in terms of socio-economic status of high, medium and low, (3) there is no significant differences in career planning of students in terms of male and female, (4) there is nosignificant difference in career planning of students in terms of majoring in science and social studies, (5) there is no difference in career planning of students in terms of interaction between socio-economic status, gender, and majors. The implication of this research as one of an input for designing aguidance and counseling program, especially in the career planning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the stress that become a complex problem for students in daily life. Self efficacy, achievement motivation, and academic procrastination expect to affect student’s academic stress. The research purpose was to describe: (1) self efficacy, (2) achievement motivation, (3) academic procrastination, (4) student academic stress, (5) correlation of self efficacy with student’s academic stress, (6) correlation of achievement motivation with student’s academic stress, (7) correlation of academic procrastination with student’s academic stress, and (8) correlation of self efficacy, achievement motivation and academic procrastination with student’s academic stress.This study used quantitative approach with correlation descriptive method and the population were students of Guidance and Counseling Program of Education Faculty State University of Padang. The sampling technique was proportional stratified random sampling. The instrument was a scale model of Likert. The instrument reliability of self efficacy was 0,930, achievement motivation was 0,906, academic procrastination was 0,868, and student’s academic stress was 0,932. The instrument validity of self efficacy 0,554, achievement motivation was 0,469, academic procrastination was 0,453, and student’s academic stress was 0,568. Data were analyzed by using simple linier regression and multiple regression.The result indicates that: (1) self efficacy and achievement motivation of students are at the high category, (2) academic procrastination and student’s academic stress are in the moderate category, (3) there are negative correlation and significant between self efficacy with student’s academic stress, (4) there are negative and significant correlation between achievement motivation and student’s academic stress, (5) there are positive and significant correlation between academic procrastination with student’s academic stress, (6) there are significant correlation between self efficacy, achievement motivation and academic procrastination with student’s academic stress together, and (7) the implication are inputs from the various parties involved in to increase self efficacy and achievement motivation of students and reduce or prevent procrastination and academic stress..Keywords: Self Efficacy, Achievement Motivation, Procrastination Academic, Academic Stress

Abstract

This study purpose to describe marital readiness students in terms of gender, cultural background and socio-economic conditions. The total sample were 90 people Guidance and Counseling students at the State University of Padang Faculty of Education selected by purposive random sampling technique. The Instrument was a questionnary. Data analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result showed the level of marital readiness in terms gender, cultural background and socio-economic conditions were in high category.

Abstract

For adolescents, the need for greater interaction with peers. Peer interaction in adolescence also impacts development in later years. One of the tasks of adolescent development is to strengthen self control (the ability to control oneself). Individuals with good self control are able to control themselves in interacting with other individuals. High or low self-control can be seen from three aspects, namely (1) behavioral control, (2) cognitive control, and (3) decision control. This study aims to describe the self-control of men and women in social interactions, and examine the differences in self-control in social interactions between male and female students. This research uses comparative quantitative descriptive research methods. The sample of the research is 207 Pertiwi 1 Padang students. The instrument used was a questionnaire using a Likert scale model. The data is processed using descriptive statistical techniques and to test the difference in levels the t-test formula is used using the SPSS 16.0 application. The research findings show that: (1) the overall level of self-control of male students in social interaction is in the high category, (2) the level of self-control of female students in social interaction is in the high category, (3) there is a significant difference between controls self male students with female students in social interactions that is self control of female students higher than male students.

Abstract

Time management of learning is a way to manage time in using time effectively and efficiently by making plans, scheduling, prioritizing, managing control over time that can be seen from individual learning needs. The background of research is various problems that occur in the students time management of learning junior high school in schools that implement the full day school system. The problem at issue by junior high school students’ in schools that implement the full day school system is a matter of time and difficulty of responsibility in learning, organization, extracurricular activities and other additional activities. Counselors helps improve students’ skills and understanding of learning time management through guidance and counseling services. There are several guidance and counseling services that can be provided to student regarding learning time management issues supported by information services, content mastery services, group guidance services, individual counseling services and group counseling services. This study aims to describe the students’ time management of learning at junior high school 33 Padang, seen from the aspects of: (1) planning of goals and priorities, (2) planning and scheduling, and (3) implementation. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. The study population was 371 at junior high school 33 Padang and a sample of 186 students were selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The instrument used was a study time management questionnaire. The students’ time management of learning in junior high school 33 Padang is relatively high, which is related to the students’ time management of learning in: (1) aspects of setting goals and priorities, (2) aspects of planning and scheduling, and (3) aspects of implementation is relatively high.
