Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Holland's theory in career planning for students through career guidance at school. Holland's theory, which divides human personality into six types (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional), can be used to help students understand the match between their personality type and the appropriate work environment. With this approach, it is expected that students can choose a more purposeful career path, reduce dissatisfaction, and increase the potential for future success. This research uses the literature study method by collecting and analyzing the results of previous research related to the application of Holland's theory in career guidance. The results show that although Holland's theory provides a clear framework in helping students plan careers, its implementation requires a deep understanding from counselors as well as environmental support such as family and education. In addition, web-based technology can increase the accessibility of personality assessment for students, but still requires proper guidance from counselors to ensure effective use. Overall, the application of Holland's theory in career guidance can provide significant benefits in helping students plan a career that is more in line with their potential and aspirations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role and application of descriptive and inferential statistics in guidance and counseling research. Descriptive statistics are employed to present data characteristics such as perceptions, attitudes, and satisfaction levels toward counseling services, while inferential statistics are used to test hypotheses, explore relationships between variables, and assess the effectiveness of counseling programs. This qualitative review analyzed 15 relevant international journal articles. The findings indicate that the use of statistics in counseling research not only enhances the validity and reliability of findings but also aids school counselors in making data-driven decisions. The study recommends improving statistical literacy among guidance and counseling practitioners and researchers as a crucial step toward strengthening evidence-based practices.

Abstract

Work-family conflict (WFC) is a psychosocial problem that arises due to a mismatch between work and family role demands, which impacts an individual's psychological well-being. The high impact of WFC requires the availability of accurate, valid, and reliable measurement instruments. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the Work-Family Conflict instrument using the Rasch Model. The study involved 60 married working women respondents. The instrument was developed based on the Greenhaus and Beutell framework, which includes time-based, strain-based, and behavior-based conflict dimensions with a Likert response format. Data analysis was conducted using Winsteps software to evaluate item suitability, reliability, and unidimensionality. The results showed that 19 of the 22 items were declared valid, item reliability was very high (0.94-0.95), and the unidimensionality assumption was met, although there was overlap in the middle response category. Overall, the instrument has good psychometric quality and is relevant for use in the context of Guidance and Counseling.
