Abstract

The purpose of the research and development is to produce teaching materials such as textbooks supporting course in Reproduction Physiology research based on the toxicity analysis for students who take a course in Reproduction Physiology. This research is a research and development, where the results of research become the teaching materials developed supporting Reproduction Physiology course. Development models have prepared using ADDIE Model. Sources of data in this research include laboratory research and validation of the results sheet of Biotechnology material experts, instructional design experts, the media, and the trials in students. The analysis is used quantitative and qualitative.The results of the research have developed become teaching materials like text books supporting courses and have been validated by the Reproduction Physiology, the Reproduction Physiology material experts, instructional design experts, the media, the individual testing, and group trials. Based on the results of the validation material have obtained value of 95%, the results of the design validation and media experts to get the value of 93.75%, it means that the teaching materials has been developed which suitable to be used as a teaching material support biotechnology course. While the experiments performed to get a data the percentage of students that are equal to 88,25 % and included in the category of “very good”, but still need to be revised based on advices and comments from students.

Abstract

Information Literacy (IL) and Science Process Skills (SPS) have been widely examined to enhance the quality of learning, especially in higher education, in which information technology has become the basis of human life. This research aims to explore the relationship between IL and SPS to the grade point average (GPA) of pre-service science student. Determination of samples using a typical case sampling is 278 students from 329 active students in the program at S1-Science Education, Surabaya State University (UNESA). This research uses quantitative approaches. The source of data is a test result of IL and SPS towards a GPA in the odd 2017/2018 semester. The data were analyzed using the Minitab 16 program. The results of the data analysis showed that   = 26,69 ˃ 3,03 =   = (0,05;2;275) or in other words support data to reject   with confidence level 95%. This investigation concludes that there is a significant relationship between variable information literacy and science process skills together against the grade point average. The results of the research are expected to be one of the considerations in choosing and determining the right learning of science teachers,

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to study the effect of Structured-Inquiry and 5E Learning Cycle Models on scientific process skill and cognitive learning outcome in Biology of 8 grade junior high school students in Malang with different academic capabilities. A quasi-experimental research of pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group had been applied in this study. The data of pre and post test, then analized using Anacova. The results showed that both 5E learning cycle dan structured-inquiry models are potential to improve students’ science process skills in both low and high academic capability students. 5E learning cycle model is a good model, because it can alleviate the science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes of low academic capacity students unto the similar level of high academic capability students’ achievements. Key Words: structured inquiry, 5E learning cycle, academic ability, science process skills, cognitive learning outcomesAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terstruktur dan siklus belajar 5E dan kemampuan akademik terhadap keterampilan proses sains dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa Kelas VIII SMPN di Kota Malang serta interaksi model pembelajaran dan kemampuan akademik. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian quasi eksperimen atau eksperimen semu pretes-postes melalui nonequivalent control group. Data dikumpulkan dari hasil pretes dan postes, kemudian dia-nalisis secara statistik dengan anakova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran si-klus belajar 5E dan inkuiri terstruktur memiliki potensi yang sama dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa berkemampuan akademik tinggi pada matapelajaran Bio-logi. Siswa berkemampuan akademik rendah akan lebih baik jika diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran siklus belajar 5E karena telah terbukti mampu mensejajarkan keterampilan proses sains dan hasil bel-ajar kognitif dengan siswa berkemampuan akademik tinggi.Kata kunci: inkuiri terstruktur, siklus belajar 5E, kemampuan akademik, keterampilan proses sains, hasil belajar kognitif

Abstract

Abstract: This research was aimed to study the effect of Connect Extend Challenge learning through concept maps and different levels of metacognitive awareness to the students’ scientific reasoning. This study was done in a quasi-experimental design is using a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The results showed that CEC combined with concept map learning increased scientific reasoning ability by 59.826% compared to the conventional learning, metacognitive awareness level affect the reasoning ability. The highest reasoning ability was achieved by the high metacognitive awareness level group.Key Words: connect extend challenge, scientific reasoning, metacognitive awarenessAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran Connect Extend Chal-lenge melalui peta konsep dan tingkat kesadaran metakognitif yang berbeda terhadap kemampuan penalaran saintifik siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan rancangan quasi experimental yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan rancangan pretest-postest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran CEC melalui peta konsep meningkatkan kemampu-an penalaran saintifik sebesar 59,826% dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional, kesadaran metakognitif berpengaruh terhadap penalaran saintifik siswa. Abstract

Abstract: Human Reproductive System is a basic concept in biological sciences that is related to daily life and interesting for high school students. Complicated learning materials make it difficult for students to construct their knowledge and understand the concepts. Survey research using a questionnaire was conducted to determine the causes of difficulties for high school students in understanding the Human Reproductive System concepts. Respondents were grade XII science students and two teachers. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The research findings indicate that students’ difficulties are due to (1) the extensive usage of scientific terms, (2) abstract concepts, (3) monotone, and (4) inadequate sources of information. The implication of this result is that teachers are required to elaborate appropriate strategies and textbooks to lead students getting accurate knowledge. Key Words: learning difficulties, senior high school students, human reproductive system, teacher, textbook, misconceptionAbstrak: Sistem Reproduksi Manusia merupakan konsep dasar dalam ilmu biologi yang berkaitan de-ngan kehidupan sehari-hari dan menarik bagi siswa SMA untuk dipelajari. Namun, kompleksitas materi seringkali membuat siswa kesulitan dalam membangun struktur pengetahuan dan memahami konsep.  Penelitian survei dengan menggunakan instrumen kuesioner dilakukan untuk mengetahui penyebab kesulitan siswa SMA dalam mempelajari materi ini yang berpotensi memicu miskonsepsi. Responden adalah siswa kelas XII IPA dan guru. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan siswa disebabkan karena: 1) terdapat istilah asing yang sulit dimengerti dan diingat, 2) beberapa sub konsep bersifat abstrak sehingga sulit dipahami dalam konteks nyata, 3) cara guru menyampaikan materi terlalu monoton dan tidak menarik, 4) sumber informasi yang kurang memadai. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah guru perlu mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran yang menarik dan memilih buku teks yang baik sehingga siswa memperoleh pengetahuan yang akurat.Kata kunci: kesulitan belajar, siswa SMA, sistem reproduksi manusia, guru, buku teks, miskonsepsi

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to develop a three-tier test of the human reproductive system in identifying student misconceptions. The instrument was developed by Treagust model which has three stages of defining content; obtain information; development of diagnostic tests. A total of 100 students were subjected. All question items consist of 15 items have been classified as valid, with result of reliability analysis equal to 0.717, average test of power difference 0.45, all item problem is in range 0.35–0.67 at level of difficulty, construct validity r = 0.531, N = 100, p = 0.000. False negative content validity test is 6.47% and false positive is 9.07%. Based on the analysis result, this instrument is feasible to identify student misconception.Key Words: human reproduction system, misconception, three-tier test, studentAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan instrumen three-tier test sistem reproduksi manusia dalam mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa. Instrumen dikembangkan dengan model Treagust yang memiliki tiga tahapan yaitu mendefinisikan konten; memperoleh informasi; pengembangan tes diagnostik. Sebanyak 100 siswa dijadikan subjek. Seluruh item soal terdiri 15 butir soal tergolong valid, dengan hasil analisis realibilitas sebesar 0.717, rerata uji daya beda 0.45, semua item soal berada pada rentangan 0.35–0.67 pada tingkat kesukaran, validitas konstruknya r = 0.531, N = 100, p = 0.000. Uji validitas konten persentase false negative sebesar 6.47% dan false positive sebesar 9.07%. Abstract

Scientific literacy is important to be prepared for the younger generation to solve problems in life. Guided inquiry (GI) is strategy that can be used to improve scientific literacy. Blended learning can be integrated in GI (GI-BL), to improve the effectiveness of learning. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of GI-BL to improve scientific literacy of biology students when compared with Structured Inquiry (SI). The results show that GI-BL and SI-BL have significant influence in increasing the scientific literacy compared to SI. GI-BL is more effective in improving validate literature skill, designing scientific research, and fundamental statistic capabilities.Literasi sains penting untuk dipersiapkan bagi generasi muda agar dapat memecahkan permasalahan dalam kehidupan. Guided inquiry (GI) merupakan strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains. Blended learning dapat diintegrasikan pada GI (GI-BL) untuk meningkatkan keefektifan pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh GI-BL terhadap literasi sains mahasiswa biologi jika dibandingkan dengan strategi Structured Inquiry (SI) Hasil menunjukkan GI-BL dan SI-BL memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan literasi sains jika dibandingkan SI. GI-BL lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memvalidasi literatur, mendesain penelitian ilmiah, dan kemampuan dasar statistik.

Abstract

Learning outcomes are the embodiment ability due to changes in current behavior of education. Improving the quality of education can be the beginning of the learning process in which there are iteration between teachers and students. Teachers must create strategies to facilitate students with different abilities to be active in learning. The purpose of this study is to improve student learning outcomes through strategies TASC combined iMindMap. Research was conducted at SMAN 4 Sidoarjo 2015/2016 school year, the class X MIA 3 by the number of students 39. The research was quasi experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The results obtained showed that the mean score on the pretest of student learning outcomes by 60 and increased the posttest with a mean score of 84. Mastery learning outcomes of students reached 97%. Based on the results of this study concluded that learning strategies TASC combined with iMindMap can improve student learning outcomes.Hasil belajar adalah perwujudan kemampuan akibat perubahan perilaku yang dilakukan oleh usaha pendidikan. Peningkatan kualitas pendidikan dapat diawal dari proses pembelajaran yang didalamnya terdapat interaksi antara guru dan siswa. Guru harus membuat strategi untuk memfasilitasi siswa dengan kemampuan yang berbeda agar aktif dalam pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa melalui strategi TASC dipadu iMindMap. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMAN 4 Sidoarjo tahun ajaran 2015/2016, di kelas X MIA 3 dengan jumlah siswa 39. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa skor rerata hasil belajar siswa pada pretest sebesar 60 dan meningkat pada posttest dengan rerata skor 84. Ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa mencapai 97%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan strategi TASC dipadu iMindMap dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce the media for ecology course with biological waste testing study based of fish industry in Muncar toward Artemia salina by using inquiry based learning consisting of lecture plan semester (RPS), lesson plans (RPP), module, students’ answer sheet (LKM), and evaluation instrument of critical thinking skills and solving problem to improve critical thinking skills and problem solving. This developing study uses ADDIE developing model. This developing model consists of five steps namely analyzing step, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating. The data of this study is in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data is obtained from evaluation score toward validation sheet of learning media and students’ response on questionnaire. Meanwhile, qualitative data is obtained from the suggestion from the experts of validation and the students. The result of the study and the developing of learning media are in the form of RPS, module, LKM, and evaluation instrument of critical thinking ability and problem solving have a very good qualification and there is no need revision. As a whole, the inquiry learning media of biological testing study based is effective enough and it can increase the critical thinking ability and student’s problem solving.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan perangkat untuk matakuliah Ekologi dengan berbasis penelitian uji hayati limbah industri pengolahan ikan di Muncar terhadap Artemia salina dengan pembelajaran inkuiri yang terdiri dari Rencana Perkuliahan Semester (RPS), Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), modul, Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM), dan instrumen penilaian kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah.Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE. Model pengembagan ini terdiri dari lima tahap yaitu tahap analisis, perancangan, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Data penelitian pengembangan ini berupa data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari skor penilaian terhadap lembar validasi perangkat pembelajaran maupun angket respon mahasiswa. data kualitatif diperoleh dari saran dari validator dan mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berupa RPS, RPP, modul, LKM, dan instrumen penilaian kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah memiliki kualifikasi sangat layak dan tidak perlu. Secara keseluruhan perangkat pembelajaran inkuiri berbasis penelitian uji hayati ini cukup efektif dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa.

Abstract

Indonesia is tropical country with high risk of tropical disease. Students need to develop life skills to cope that challenges. Therefore research to determine the effect of tropical diseases in problem-based learning on students' life skills need to be established. This experimental research was used nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 66 high school students in Malang, 35 students as an experimental group and 31 students as a control group. Students' life skill was measured using test and data were analyzed using Anacova. The results showed that tropical disease problem-based learning significantly enhance students' life skills (p < 0.05).Indonesia merupakan negara tropis yang berisiko tinggi terhadap masalah penyakit tropis. Siswa perlu mengembangkan kecakapan hidup untuk menghadapi tantangan masalah tersebut. Sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan penyakit tropis dalam pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap kecakapan hidup siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian adalah 66 siswa SMA di Kabupaten Malang, 35 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan 31 siswa sebagai kelompok kontrol. Kecakapan hidup siswa diukur menggunakan soal pretes-postes dan hasilnya dianalisis menggunakan anakova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis masalah penyakit tropis secara signifikan meningkatkan kecakapan hidup siswa (p < 0.05).
