Abstract

This study analyzes the declining learning motivation of broken home student and efforts to handle it. The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) An overview of the declining learning motivation of broken home student, (2) The causes and psychological impacts of broken home student on the declining learning motivation, (3) Efforts to handle the declining learning motivation of broken home student. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with a clinical case study research type. The data sources in this study are the subject (MFR), MFR's classmates, School counselor, and homeroom teacher. The data collection used qualitative analysis of the Miles & Huberman model in the form of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the decline in learning motivation of broken home students was influenced by: (1) Descriptions related to the decline in learning motivation of broken home students in the MFR subject, namely truancy and entering and leaving class during class hours, lack of enthusiasm in following lessons, changes in behavior such as apathy or indifference, and lack of attention and affection from parents for MFR subjects. (2) Factors that caused the decline in learning motivation of broken home students in the MFR subject were internal factors: disruption to learning routines, emotional instability and loss of sense of security, and decreased interest and curiosity. As for external factors: disharmonious family conditions, an unconducive home environment and lack of parental support, and peer influence. (3) Efforts made to address the problem of declining learning motivation in broken home students in the MFR subject were by applying cognitive restructuring techniques. The application of this technique had a positive impact in the form of increasing students' desire to learn, the emergence of self-confidence, and changes in attitudes that were more adaptive towards academic tasks.

Abstract

Coping skills are essential abilities that help students manage various academic challenges throughout their university studies. Considering the increasing academic demands, assignment pressures, and diverse problems encountered by students in higher education, understanding the level of students' coping skills has become an important area of investigation. This study aims to describe the coping skills of Guidance and Counseling students in dealing with academic challenges. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 239 active students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Makassar State University. The instrument used was a coping skills scale that has been translated and adapted into the Indonesian language. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The instrument demonstrated acceptable construct validity through item-total correlation analysis (r ≥ 0.30) and showed high reliability with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.85, indicating that the instrument was appropriate for use in this study. The findings revealed that most students were categorized as having high and moderate levels of coping skills, indicating their ability to manage academic pressure and challenges adaptively. These findings emphasize the importance of academic and psychological support in higher education to assist students in strengthening their coping abilities when facing academic demands. Furthermore, the results provide a basis for developing campus-based interventions focused on enhancing coping skills, managing academic stress, and improving student resilience.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis implementasi pembelajaran berbasis Smart TV dan implikasinya terhadap motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika. Rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa yang dipengaruhi sifat materi yang abstrak menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Penggunaan Smart TV diharapkan mampu menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan dukungan data kuantitatif sederhana (pre–post) dalam bentuk studi kasus. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas satu guru dan 30 siswa sekolah menengah. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket motivasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa setelah penggunaan Smart TV, dengan rata-rata skor meningkat dari 62,5 (kategori sedang) menjadi 78,3 (kategori tinggi). Peningkatan terlihat pada perhatian, keterlibatan, dan antusiasme siswa. Media visual dan audio melalui Smart TV membantu pemahaman konsep matematika abstrak sehingga berdampak positif terhadap motivasi belajar. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Smart TV dapat menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa.

Abstract

Working mothers face various role demands in their lives, making them more susceptible to role conflicts that can affect their self-confidence in providing parenting and education to their children, also known as parental self-efficacy. One of the factors that influences the level of parental self-efficacy is their knowledge and values of beliefs. Spiritual parenting training is one of the efforts aimed at increasing parental self-efficacy. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of spiritual parenting training as an effort to increase parental self-efficacy in working mothers in Makassar City. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test model involving 10 participants. The measuring instrument used was the parental self-efficacy scale with a reliability value of 0.990. The results of the study reveal an increase in parental self-efficacy with an average pre-test score of 102 and a post-test score of 128. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon signed rank test technique with a significance value of 0.0025 (p < 0.05). The spiritual parenting training increases awareness of the importance of mothers’ roles and the commitment to parenting, which has an impact on the increase of parental self-efficacy of working mothers in Makassar City.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of peer conformity and the level of consumptive behavior towards Apple products among students. This research used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire adapted from Baron & Byrne's theory for conformity and Lina & Rosyid's theory for consumptive behavior. Data analysis used descriptive statistics to calculate frequencies and percentages. The results showed that the level of peer conformity among students was in the high category (43.42%), and the level of consumptive behavior towards Apple products was in the very high category (53.95%). The conclusion of this study is that the majority of students have a strong tendency to conform to their peer groups and exhibit excessive consumption patterns of Apple products, driven by aspects of impulsive buying, wasteful buying, and non-rational buying.
