Abstract

This study examines Indonesia's Financial Intelligence Unit (INTRAC) "follow the money" investigative techniques through Routine Activity Theory, analyzing criminal convergence in online gambling money laundering operations. Using qualitative methodology with interviews, observation, and document analysis (December 13-19, 2024), the research applied Cohen and Felson's framework to understand criminal patterns in digital financial ecosystems. Data analysis using Audit Command Language (ACL) revealed criminal convergence patterns where motivated offenders (84.63% male, 50% private sector employees, 53% aged 20-30) exploited digital infrastructure vulnerabilities. Sophisticated schemes included multiple nominee accounts, 5-8 layered transactions, and cryptocurrency laundering in low-surveillance environments. Transaction analysis showed expanding criminal opportunities, increasing to IDR 691.88 trillion (2017-2024). The study demonstrates how digital transformation creates suitable targets faster than regulatory adaptation. Research contributes theoretical insights explaining financial irregularity patterns through routine activity theory while offering practical risk reduction models for global financial intelligence units, advancing regulatory compliance theory and digital financial risk prevention.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of road gradient on fuel consumption, fuel rate (FR), and CO₂ emissions in freight transport vehicles with two-axle and three-axle configurations. The research was conducted on a 250-meter road segment with a 0.067 rad (~7%) gradient in front of Taman Rekreasi Datae, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. A quantitative mathematical model, based on vehicle technical parameters and empirical formulations from previous studies, was applied. Results show that increasing the gradient from 0 to 0.067 rad raised fuel consumption in two-axle trucks from 0.0356 L to 0.0857 L and in three-axle trucks from 0.1463 L to 0.3269 L. The FR for two-axle trucks increased from 0.0014 L/s to 0.0056 L/s, while for three-axle trucks it rose from 0.0033 L/s to 0.0124 L/s. CO₂ emissions from two-axle trucks increased from 0.0958 kg to 0.3941 kg, and from 0.2310 kg to 0.8807 kg for three-axle trucks. The relative increase was higher for two-axle trucks (311%) than for three-axle trucks (281%), due to axle load distribution, engine capacity, and transmission ratio. These findings highlight the need to consider vehicle configuration and topography in route planning to minimize fuel consumption and emissions in hilly regions.

Abstract

Lowita Beach was a tourist area in Suppa District, Pinrang Regency, with 11 tourist attractions. The annual increase in visitors to Lowita Beach can compromise tourist comfort and damage the area's natural habitat. This is the basis for researchers to analyse the Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC) of Lowita Beach. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of tourist activities, assess the physical carrying capacity of the area, and formulate the role of tourist villages in managing the Lowita Beach area. The research approach used was research and development, as initiated by Borg and Gall: the calculation of Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC), area parameters, and the number of tourists. The study population comprised 93 tourists who visited the Lowita Beach area. Data was collected through the completion of questionnaires, interviews, measurements, and field observations. A quantitative-descriptive approach was used for data analysis. The Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC) analysis reveals that Lowita Beach's ideal capacity is 1 visitor per day, yet it currently hosts an average of 35 visitors daily, significantly surpassing this threshold. This overcapacity indicates that the beach is experiencing environmental strain and underscores the need for management strategies to align visitor numbers with sustainable limits. In conclusion, despite the physical carrying capacity (PCC) of Lowita Beach being 17 visitors per day, the present daily visitor count suggests that the beach is currently facing overcrowding, albeit not to a significant extent. Hence, it is necessary to implement policy interventions from the tourist villages of Tasiwalie and Wiringtasi, which should include the establishment of standardized operating procedures and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, in order to ensure sustainable tourism management at Lowita Beach.

Abstract

Electricity demand in Asia has grown substantially over the past three decades, creating a persistent imbalance between supply and consumption. This study analyzes long-term trends in the electricity supply–demand gap from 1993 to 2022 and develops forecasting models to support energy management and policy planning through 2052. Using quantitative time series methods, two scenarios are generated: Business as Usual (BAU) and Additional Efforts. The analysis shows that electricity demand will continue to rise across both scenarios, driven by industrial expansion and rapid urbanization. Although policy interventions and technological improvements help moderate growth, they are not sufficient to fully offset future demand pressures. The study underscores the importance of accelerating renewable energy deployment, improving energy efficiency, and strengthening transmission infrastructure. A short-term increase in efficiency-oriented efforts is essential for stabilizing the regional energy system. The findings provide actionable insights for policymakers and energy managers, offering an evidence-based foundation for designing sustainable electricity strategies that address Asia’s growing energy needs.
