Abstract

This study aims to determinate the fishing ground, based on chlorophyll-a distribution in Sibolga marine waters every month throughout 2019 using Aqua Modis Satellite. The method used in was survey method and room analysis method to know directly of fishing ground determined by fisherman and to analysed satellite aqua modis imagery. The water quality measurements were carried out to describe of general conditions research area. The parmeters measured include water temperature, water transparency, salinity, ph, depth and current. Sibolga sea surface temperature ranges from 26-300C, water transparency ranges from 170-210 cm. water salinity ranges between 26-29 ppt, the degree of acidity (ph) ranges from 6,8-8. The depth ranges from 15-22 m,  and current velocity 0.21-0.40 m/s. Based on the results it is known that the chlorophyll-a concentration a ranges from 0.001 to 5,000 mg/m3. Highest chlorophyll-a concentration occurs in October with a range of 3,500 to 5,000 mg/m3, while the lowest chlorophyll-a concentration occurred in February with a range 0,001 to 0,500 mg/m3. Based on the chlorophyll-a average troughout the year the potential for fishing ground is in Sorkam and Kolang water

Abstract

This research has conducted on February 2021 in Kota Pariaman District, Sumatera Barat Province. The intention of this research was to found out the sea level rise rate based on tidal data analysis from 2001-2020 and to predict the inundation area in the 20th, 50th, and 80th to go. The method of this research was a descriptive survey by using remote sensing as the additional equipment to demonstrate the outcome. The acquisition needs are primary (land use and tidal data) and secondary (slope, elevation, land use, and tidal data) data. Those parameters were processed and analyzed to describe the area of inundation by displaying a map of Kota Pariaman. Kota Pariaman territorial water has 0,44 of Formzhal number which means the waters area is classified to mixed semidiurnal tides with the sea level rise value reach out to 2,006 cm/year. Then, the number used to predict the height of sea-level rise in 20th, 50th, and 80th to go, for each is 0,471 m; 1,073 m; and 1,675m. Furthermore, the sea level rise height was analyzed to get the inundation area in 20th, 50th, and 80th to go, turns out the flooded area for each year respectively to 14,56 ha; 23,61 ha, and 38,16 ha

Abstract

This study was conducted along the coastal line of Pariaman City from February to May 2021 which aims to determine and mapping the changes of the coastal line due to sea level rise. Survey method with direct field observation were applied and satellite imageries were also used to find out the shoreline change of coast under study. Results showed that since 2001 to 2020 the mean sea level rise in Pariaman City were 2.01 cm/year. Predictions of sea level rise that will occur in 2025 and 2030 in sequence is 17.036 cm and 27.068, in addition the wide of missing area from 2020 to 2025 with an accumulation is around 3.74 ha and in 2025 to 2030 covering an area of 4.70 ha. The result to the year of 2025 occure to shift considerable coastline with average change of -9.03 m with the rate of the shoreline changed an average of -1.81 m/year. In the year 2030, shoreline changed with average change of -29.13 m with the rate of the shoreline changed an average of -5.83 m/year

Abstract

The study aims to identify variations in the surface temperature of the water of Dumai, Riau province, using the AQUA-Modis satellite. Data analysis uses seadas and surfer software. In this study, the method used was the survey method. Ground check done was to establish the immediate value of ocean surface temperature. It also measures the quality of the water and gives documented observations of the waters. Parameters measured in this study are those of the quality of the water covering: brightness, temperature, acidity (pH), and salinity. The measured parameters for the quality of water in the Dumai waters were carried out at 3 stations that are thought to represent the parameters of the waters of the city of Dumai. The result of the measured parameters for the quality of the Dumai waters is known that for the value of the brightness of the dumai waters is between 7.5 and 16 cm, the water temperature is between 28-29 oC, the degree of acidity (pH) of water ranges between 6-7 and dumai water salinity (26-32‰). Based on studies that 2020 variations in surface temperature (SST) have a varying range of temperatures. Variations in surface temperature are marked by SST anomalies indicating that the value of negative anomalies indicates that an SST shift is marked by a drop in temperature

Abstract

The study aims to know the area of fishing in the waters of the Strait based on a flat-out chlorophyill-a satellite image of AQUA-Modis. Data analysis uses Seadas 7.5.1 and Surfer 13. In this study the method used was the survey method. Ground checks are done aimed at directly knowing the water quality parameters. And also there is a documented documentary on the waters. Parameters measured in this study are those of the quality of the water covering: brightness, temperature, the velocity of the current, acidity (pH) and salinity. The measured parameters for the quality of water in the Dumai Waters were carried out at 3 stations that are thought to represent the parameters of the waters in Dumai. The result of the measured parameters for the quality of the Dumai Waters is known that for the value of the brightness of the Dumai waters is between 7.5 to 16 cm, the water temperature is between 28-29oC, the degree of acidity (pH) of water ranges between 6-7 and the salinity of the water is 26-32 0/00.The chlorophyill-a concentration in the Dumai waters based on analysis of the AQUA-Modis satellite image ranging from 4.001 to 11200 mg/m3. The level of fishing area in the Dumai Waters is 75%.

Abstract

The survey was conducted in March 2021. The purpose of this survey was to analyze the structure of the mangrove community at Batang Masang Beach Nagari Tiku V Jorong Tanjung Mutiara District Agam Regency West Sumatra. The method used in this study is a survey method. In the mangrove area of ​​Batang Masang, 3 observation stations have been determined. Each observation station was drawn by 3 transects over 50 m drawn from the mangrove boundary of the sea to the land. In each transect, 3 plots were placed, each plot consisting of 3 sizes, namely 10 x 10 m for the tree category, 5 x 5 m for the sapling category, and 2 x 2 m for the seedling category. The results of the survey revealed that there were 2 classes, namely the Magnoliopsida class and the Liliopsida class. In the magnoliopsida class, there are 3 genera namely Acanthus, Rhizophora, and Sonneratia, and there are 3 species namely A. ilicifolius, R. apiculata, and S. alba. In the class Liliopsida there is only 1 genus, namely Nypa, and 1 species N. fruticans. Zone I is dominated by S. alba species, in zone II there are 2 dominant species, namely S. alba and R. Apiculata, and zone III is dominated by R.apiculata species. The criteria for mangrove vegetation are in the scarce criteria with densities ranging from 277.78 to 1066.67 ind/ha

Abstract

This research was conducted in January 2021 in the Coastal Area of ​​ Pantai Cermin and Perbaungan Districts, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The purpose of this study is to analyze shoreline changes from 1985 to 2021 and predict shoreline changes for 2040 in the Coastal Area of ​​ Pantai Cermin and Perbaungan Districts, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The method used is the survey method. The analysis was carried out using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) The results showed that the Coastal Area of Pantai Cermin and Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency had experienced 89.62% abrasion and 10.38% accretion. With this, it can be seen that the Coastal Areas of Pantai Cermin and Perbaungan Subdistricts have mostly experienced an abrasion. Oceanographic factors in the waters of the Malacca Strait, such as currents and waves, the existence of poor mangrove forests, sloping water topography, and human activities in every part of the research area. Prediction results of shoreline changes in 2040 the abrasion are 319.1 m, while the accretion is 239.7 m.

Abstract

The Malacca Strait is a water that connects the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea (Pacific Ocean). The Straits of Malacca is the busiest waters because it is filled with activities in and out of ships, fishing activities, ecotourism, and community sea transportation. These activities significantly affect the condition of the waters in the Malacca Strait. Water conditions are greatly affected by oceanographic parameters. One of the most critical parameters is currents. This ocean current is a horizontal movement of water masses influenced by other oceanographic factors. This research was conducted in June - July 2022. This study aimed to determine the pattern of current circulation, direction, and speed of currents as well as sea level during conditions at full moon (highest tide) and new low tide (Lowest tide) each month and every season in the Straits of Malacca. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, where numerical data is collected to support the formation of numerical models such as wind, tidal, and bathymetry data. Numerical modeling is a function of the software to determine the pattern of current movement based on the data used. Based on the four seasons (West Season, Transition I, East, and Transition II) at high tide. The highest current speed ranges from 0.02 to 2.07 m/s, while at high tide, the highest current speed ranges from 0.03 to 2.58 m/s

Abstract

Sironjong Gadang Island is one of the islands in the Mandeh Tourism area in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia. One of the ecosystems affected by tourism activities is coral reefs. Monitoring the coral reefs' condition and the abundance of coral fish in the Chaetdontidae family is carried out to find out this. This research uses survey research methods. The temperature measurement results obtained an average of 30.2oC, current speed measurements received an average of 0.12 m/s, salinity measurements obtained an average of 30 ppt, and brightness measurements show that the brightness of these waters is 9 m. Tide measurements in the waters of Sironjong Gadang Island, carried out on March 7–8, 2023, are double daily tides (semi diurnal tide). Then, the results from the coral reef cover of Sironjong Gadang Island waters obtained a percentage ranging from 2.34 - 12.83%, with an average rate of live coral reef cover of 5.96%, which is included in the poor category. Furthermore, the results at each research station in the waters of Sironjong Gadang Island showed that 54 coralfish individuals were found, with the number of coralfish at each depth ranging from 4 - 10 individuals. The most common types of coral fish are species. Acuminate had 18 individuals; the fewest types of coral fish found were Chaetodon trifasciatus and C. tristichous, each numbering two individuals. There is a solid relationship between live coral reef cover and the abundance of coral fish in the Chaetodontidae family, where live coral reef cover influences the plenty of coral fish by 61.11%, which means that the higher the percentage of live coral cover, the higher the value of coral fish abundance

Abstract

Mapping sea surface temperature and coral reef distribution is vital for understanding the marine environment's dynamics and developing effective conservation strategies. The ideal temperature for coral reefs is between 27-29ºC. This research aims to describe and analyze the relationship between sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-α to the potential zone of coral reefs in Padang City, West Sumatra. The data used in this research is MODIS Aqua level 3 imagery data with 4 km resolution. The imagery processing stages include imagery data processing using SeaDAS software, namely the cropping and reprojection process, and ArcGIS software, namely the interpolation and classification process and map layouting. The results showed that the classification of the distribution of sea surface temperature in Padang City ranged from 26-29ºC, and the average concentration of chlorophyll-α distribution was 1.41 mg/m3. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Padang city waters have an ideal sea surface temperature for coral reefs and are supported by a reasonably high chlorophyll-α concentration
