Abstract

This study aims to examine how school management contributes to improving the quality of education at SMA Swasta Mutiara Mandau. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the implementation of management functions—namely planning, organizing, and evaluation—has been carried out fairly well and has made a significant contribution to enhancing educational quality. Well-structured program planning, the implementation of activities involving all school stakeholders, and regular evaluations are key factors in supporting the quality of learning. However, several challenges remain, including limited facilities and infrastructure as well as low community participation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen school management through more innovative and collaborative strategies in order to achieve sustainable improvement in educational quality.

Abstract

The quality of primary education (Sekolah Dasar/SD) is substantially determined by the professionalism of educational staff, which includes school principals, administrative staff, laboratory technicians, and librarians at the elementary school level. However, national data from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (2022) reveals that only 61.3% of primary school principals in Indonesia meet the minimum competency standards, indicating a critical gap in educational staff professionalism. This study argues that one root cause of this gap is the absence of a solid philosophical foundation in the training and professional development of educational staff. This study aims to: (1) examine the ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations of educational administration at the primary school level; (2) analyze the contribution of the philosophy of science to the professionalism of primary school educational staff in the digital transformation era; (3) identify challenges in implementing philosophy-based professional development; and (4) propose the Philosophical Triadic Model (PTM/MTF) as a conceptual framework for developing the professionalism of primary school educational staff. This research employs a qualitative library research design. Data were systematically collected from grand theory primary sources and secondary sources comprising SINTA 1-2 nationally indexed and Scopus/WoS internationally indexed journal articles (2019-2024). Content analysis followed Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014). Findings indicate that ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations are significantly underdeveloped in current primary school administration practice. The proposed PTM offers three integrated pillars: ontological strengthening through professional identity formation, epistemological strengthening through evidence-based practice, and axiological strengthening through ethical leadership culture. The PTM is distinguished from existing frameworks by its explicit integration of digital transformation challenges specific to the primary education context. Implications for policy reform of principal and administrative staff training programs are discussed.

Abstract

Interpersonal conflict among teachers is a persistent challenge in school organizations that can undermine collaboration, reduce performance, and degrade educational service quality. Adaptive leadership by school principals is increasingly recognized as a strategic mechanism for transforming such conflict into opportunities for organizational growth. This study aims to synthesize existing empirical and theoretical literature on the role of adaptive leadership in managing and transforming interpersonal conflict in school settings. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, 23 articles published between 2020 and 2026 were identified and screened; 8 articles were selected for in-depth analysis based on relevance, methodological rigor and contextual alignment. The findings reveal that interpersonal conflict in schools predominantly stems from seniority culture tensions, divergent professional values, poor communication and resource inequity. Adaptive leadership practices diagnostic observation, open communication forums, teacher empowerment, collaborative culture cultivation, and humanistic leadership are consistently identified as effective in de escalating conflict and enhancing teacher motivation, collaboration and professionalism. Emotional intelligence competencies, particularly self-awareness, empathy, and self-management, further mediate the effectiveness of these adaptive strategies. This review concludes that the integration of adaptive and participative leadership models constitutes a comprehensive framework for conflict transformation in Indonesian elementary schools while highlighting the importance of contextualizing global theories within local sociocultural norms.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of transformational leadership exercised by school principals in enhancing teachers’ work discipline. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of principals’ transformational leadership on teachers’ work discipline in public senior high schools throughout Bukittinggi City. This research employs a quantitative correlational design. The population consisted of 248 teachers from public senior high schools in Bukittinggi City, with a sample of 153 respondents selected using the Stratified Proportional Random Sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression, supported by the t-test and the coefficient of determination (R²). The findings indicate that teachers’ work discipline is categorized as very good, with an achievement level of 96.4%, while principals’ transformational leadership is categorized as good, with an achievement level of 94.95%. The results of the analysis show that the principal's transformational leadership has a positive influence on teacher work discipline in public senior high schools in Bukittinggi City with a contribution of 3.3%, while 96.7% is influenced by other factors outside the research. Therefore, the higher the level of transformational leadership demonstrated by school principals, the better the teachers’ work discipline. Based on the research results, school principals are advised to continue strengthening transformational leadership through role models, providing motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual attention to teachers so that teacher work discipline can continue to improve.

Abstract

Vocational high schools require organizational conditions that support effective resource use, instructional quality, and outcomes aligned with the world of work, yet evidence on how leadership and school climate relate to teacher-perceived school productivity remains limited. This study examined the associations of principal leadership and school climate with perceived school productivity in state vocational high schools in Solok Regency, Indonesia. A cross-sectional correlational survey was conducted with 150 teachers selected from a population of 240 using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using five-point Likert questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics, bivariate correlations, and multiple regression. Principal leadership was positively but weakly associated with perceived school productivity (r = .188, R² = .035, p = .021), as was school climate (r = .177, R² = .031, p = .031). In the joint model, principal leadership and school climate showed a statistically significant but weak association with perceived school productivity (R = .251, R² = .063, p = .008), leaving 93.7% of the observed variance unexplained by the two-predictor model. These findings support an association-based rather than causal interpretation. Principal leadership and school climate may be relevant components of broader school-management conditions, but their practical importance should be considered alongside teacher capacity, resources, organizational processes, student characteristics, and external partnerships. Future research should use longitudinal or multilevel designs and objective school-level productivity indicators.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examined the relationships between teachers’ information and communication technology (ICT) capability, work culture, and teacher performance in public senior high schools in Dharmasraya Regency. A quantitative survey design was employed involving 81 teachers selected purposively from a population of 466. Data were collected through questionnaires, supported by interviews and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple regression, and multiple regression. The results showed that ICT capability was significantly associated with teacher performance, explaining 44.0% of the variance. Work culture also showed a significant relationship with teacher performance, accounting for 42.3% of the variance. Together, ICT capability and work culture explained 57.7% of the variance in teacher performance. These findings indicate that strengthening teachers’ ICT capability and fostering a supportive work culture are important strategies for improving teacher performance and supporting school effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a school ambidexterity model for elementary schools that balances organizational stability and innovation. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from Borg and Gall, the study involved 221 teachers and 43 principals in Solok Regency. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, documentation, focus group discussions, and expert validation. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while qualitative data were examined for recurring organizational patterns. The needs analysis produced an average score of 64.96%, indicating that ambidexterity-related practices existed but were not yet systematically integrated. The developed model comprises five interconnected components: exploration, exploitation, integration, reflection, and collaboration. Expert validation reached 96.67%, and the principal questionnaire showed high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.952). The model extends conventional ambidexterity theory by providing a contextual framework for strengthening school adaptability, collaborative learning, innovation, and sustainable organizational improvement.
