Abstract

The existing policies provide clear direction for organizations or governments to achieve desired results, especially in the tourism sector. Policy implementation is the final step of the policy process. The rule implementation process is the final and most significant determinant of overall policymaking. Implementation aims to build a network to open up opportunities where public policy objectives are realized through government organizations involving various interested parties in an activity agenda, such as the tourism sector. For this reason, the theory used to conduct this study is Edward III's policy implementation theory. Based on this theory, the success of policy implementation is determined by four factors: communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure.

Abstract

Over the past few decades, new approaches to health promotion have been developed. The target of health promotion is all ages, including children. Elementary school-age children do not yet know what is good for their physical health, including choosing healthy snacks. Consuming unsafe food can cause health problems in groups of people, leading to increasing health disparities globally. Children buy snacks based on their preferences without paying attention to the food ingredients. Children still have relatively little knowledge about healthy snacks. The aim of this activity is to provide outreach to educate elementary school-age children about healthy snacks and the importance of balanced nutrition. Community service activities were carried out on July 28 2021 from 07.30 WIB to 10.30 WIB in the classrooms of SD Negeri 03 Bukit Tambun Tulang attended by students in grades 4 and 5 and accompanied by teachers. The activity consists of 3 stages, including the preparation stage, followed by the implementation stage, and closing with the evaluation stage. The activity was carried out by the Andalas Nagari IV Koto Hilie University KKN Team which is a collaboration from various departments. It is hoped that the results of this community service can shape students' attitudes and behavior towards improving health, especially in choosing healthy snacks and nutritious food at school and at home. During the implementation of this community service activity, students and teachers actively participated in this activity. Through the evaluation carried out at the end of the event, students and teachers gave positive responses, and it is hoped that similar activities can improve the understanding and skills of teachers and students at SDN 03 Bukit Tambun Tulang.

Abstract

Papuan nutmeg (Myristica argentea Warb.) is distributed from the Papua Peninsula to Papua New Guinea. This species is a native and endemic plant of Papua, with a wide distribution in West Papua, particularly in Fakfak Regency. Compared to Banda nutmeg oil, Papuan nutmeg oil contains higher levels of terpineol and safrole, indicating its high potential for further development. Phytochemical compound identification is conducted to provide insight into the potential uses of the bioactive components found in nutmeg seeds, with the aim of optimizing their applications. This study aims to identify the phytochemical compounds present in Fakfak nutmeg oil and to determine its yield. The identification process was carried out qualitatively by reacting the nutmeg oil with specific chemical reagents that correspond to the target compounds. The oil was extracted using the steam distillation method with water as the solvent. The resulting oil yield was 2%, calculated using the decimalization method. Phytochemical screening revealed that the nutmeg oil tested positive for flavonoids, indicated by an orange color change; saponins, indicated by foam formation; and polyphenols, indicated by a green color change. In contrast, tannins were not detected in the sample.

Abstract

Chili pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) leaves have been used empirically as wound healing caused by sharp objects. Several studies showed that it has antibacterial and wound healing activities. This study aims to formulate gel from chili leaves extract, then determine wound healing activity and irritating properties on rat’s skin. Gel was formulated by using various types and concentrations of gelling agents, consisted of Carbopol 0.5%, 0.75%, 1% and hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose at 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% respectively. Cycling test was conducted to determine the physical stabilities. The results showed that all formula has no altered on organoleptic properties and pH value. Gel of 0.5% Carbopol (F2) and 7.5% of HMPC (F5) has no change in spreadability and adhesion properties. Based on statistical analysis using paired t-test and one-way ANOVA, it concludes that F2 and F5 were physically stable and further evaluated as wound healer. Wound healer evaluation showed that the healing time (days) of Carbopol based gel (F2) was 10.2±1.26 and HPMC based gel was 8±0.82. The length of incision wound (cm) at 8th day was 0.5±0.183 for F2 and 0.06±0.071 for F5. Statistical analysis of healing time showed p<0.01 and wound length showed p<0.05 indicated that F5 (contained 5% HPMC) was significantly different compared to negative control. The results of the irritation test showed that gel formulas were not causing erythema and edema on rat’s skin. It can be concluded that gel of chili leaves extract that formulated with 5% of HPMC has wound healing activity and safety to be used.

Abstract

Spontaneous abortion is one of the most common complications of pregnancy, especially among pregnant women who do not receive regular prenatal care. Lack of awareness about the importance of Antenatal Care (ANC) visits is a contributing factor to the low rate of early detection of pregnancy risks. This Community Service Program aims to increase awareness and knowledge among pregnant women, their families, and the broader community about the importance of regular ANC visits as a preventive measure against spontaneous abortion. The outreach activities were conducted in Village X in July 2025 using educational lectures, group discussions, video screenings, and the distribution of informational leaflets. The target audience for the activities included pregnant women, their spouses, and health workers. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests to measure changes in participants' knowledge before and after the activities. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge levels, from 40% before the socialization to 85% afterward. The conclusion of this activity indicates that socialization using a participatory and educational approach is effective in improving community understanding of the benefits of regular ANC check-ups. Therefore, similar activities are highly recommended to be conducted regularly to reduce the incidence of spontaneous abortion in the community.
