Abstract

This research aims to develop digital teaching materials for Indonesian phonetics designed with sound association to support basic-level BIPA learners. This research method used research and development with the 4-D model, which consists of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The research instruments included pronunciation ability tests, learner needs questionnaires, BIPA teacher interview instruments, and validation sheets from experts and practitioners. The data analysis techniques used were qualitative and quantitative methods and Gregory's validity test with validity assessment criteria using the Likert Scale 1-4. The validation results indicated that the materials were "feasible" with some necessary revisions. After making the suggested revisions, the revised materials were piloted with basic-level BIPA learners. Feedback from these learners rated the materials as "very feasible", indicating a positive reception. The final product is a digital flipbook equipped with audio pronunciation guides and illustrations that can be accessed online. This format provides a flexible and engaging alternative for improving Indonesian pronunciation for Arabic-speaking BIPA learners, making it a valuable addition to the available teaching resources.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of sentences in online news texts published by Antaranews.com in the March 2025 edition through a syntactic analysis approach. The main focus of the study is to analyze how the syntactic structure of sentences affects the clarity and accuracy of information delivery in news texts. The background of this study is based on the widespread use of long and complicated sentences in online news that can hinder readers' understanding. The purpose of this study is to find ineffective sentence forms and to formulate the characteristics of syntactic structures that are able to convey information clearly and communicatively. The method used is qualitative descriptive with content analysis techniques on 20 news texts from various fields, namely politics, economics, social, and culture. The results of the analysis show that although most sentences use complex compound structures, not all of them are able to convey messages effectively. Some of the problems found include inconsistencies in the relationship between parts of the sentence, structural ambiguity, and excessive use of elements. These findings indicate the importance of constructing sentences that are denser, more straightforward, and easier to understand in writing online news.

Abstract

This research and development aimed to achieve 2 main objectives: to develop a mind mapping model based on prophetic values in writing exposition texts, and to describe and discuss the profile of mind mapping model based on prophetic values in writing exposition texts. This model was developed by using 4D model (definition, design, development, and dissemination) which was modified to 3DI (definition, design, development, and implementation). This research was conducted in the academic year 2019/2020 at a high school in Bandung. The instruments of this research were questionnaires and observation sheets that fulfilled the validity and reliability requirements. The initial product was tested on a limited trial in X IPA SMA Negeri 1 Baleendah Bandung. Then, the revised product was tested extensively in 2 classes, namely X IPA-3 and X IPS-5. The last procedure in this research was the dissemination of the final product prototype, which was teaching materials entitled Mind Mapping Based on Porphetic Values: Teaching Materials for Writing Exposition Texts for Grade X SMA/MA. This teaching material consisted of 30 pages, A4, time new roman, 12 automatic spaces outside the start page of 7. Ho was rejected for the paired sample t test because the sig. 0.037 < p = 0.05 for class X IPA-3 and the sig. 0.037 < p = 0.05 for class X IPS-5. This product was believed to contribute to the process of learning writing exposition texts at high schools. After that, as users, the Indonesian teachers scored in mode 4 for a scale of 1 to 4 for the 4 feasibility indicators. The score mode of 4 also occured in the assessment given by the expert team.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship among undergraduate students' interest in reading academic texts, internet addiction, and critical thinking abilities. Additionally, it aims to elucidate how much interest in reading academic texts and internet addiction influence students' critical thinking skills. This investigation implements a correlational research design. The data were gathered through questionnaires and tests administered to undergraduate students enrolled in the Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (PBSI) Program at Maritim Raja Ali Haji University (UMRAH). The results were analyzed using multiple and partial correlations to assess the effects of interest in reading academic texts and internet addiction on students' critical thinking skills. The key findings are presented as follows: There exists a significant moderate correlation among interest in reading academic texts, internet addiction, and students' critical thinking skills; Interest in reading academic texts positively correlates with critical thinking skills, indicating that greater interest in reading corresponds to stronger critical thinking skills, and vice versa;  Internet addiction negatively correlates with students' critical thinking skills, suggesting that increased addiction is linked to lower critical thinking abilities. Both interest in reading academic texts and internet addiction contribute to students' critical thinking skills, with internet addiction contributing more to critical thinking skills than students' reading interest. This study successfully demonstrated a significant moderate correlation between interest in reading academic texts, internet addiction, and critical thinking skills among students because Sig. Fcount < ρ-value in line with the theory that the intensity of academic literacy engagement and external factors, such as internet use, influences critical thinking skills.
