Abstract

This research investigates the construction of religious messages and the efficacy of cultural preaching (da’wah) within the Pepe’-pepeka ri Makka (Fire in Mecca) dance tradition in Paropo Village, Makassar. While traditionally viewed as a cultural spectacle, this dance functions as a sophisticated medium for Islamic proselytization. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this study utilizes Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic framework—comprising signs, objects, and interpretants—to analyze the ritual’s poetry and choreography. Data were collected through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with key informants, including traditional maestros and religious figures. The findings reveal that the dance is a complex symbolic system representing core Islamic tenets, specifically Tawhid (monotheism), angelic hierarchies, and Thaharah (ritual purification). The fire serves as a potent index of divine light (Nur) and a symbol of spiritual resilience, echoing the miracle of Prophet Abraham. However, the analysis through the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) model indicates a significant gap in public reception. While the performance elicits strong affective responses, such as awe and emotional engagement, the cognitive and behavioral impacts remain limited. This disconnect is attributed to linguistic barriers in the classical Makassarese poetry and the lack of explicit narrative interpretation. The study concludes that for cultural da’wah to achieve its transformative potential, "intersemiotic translation" is required to bridge the gap between traditional symbolism and contemporary public understanding.

Abstract

This study analyzes the contribution of Digital Instructional Leadership (DIL) and Distributed Leadership (DL) in improving teacher performance through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach in the context of Indonesian value education. The research uses a qualitative method with data collection through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and focused group discussions. The study found that the implementation of DIL facilitates the integration of digital technology in the learning process, while DL encourages effective collaboration between teachers. Coaching Supervision based on the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Education Trilogy is a key element that mediates the effective implementation of PjBL. However, this study also identifies challenges such as resistance to change, limited technological facilities, and lack of technological competence of teachers. As a solution, it is recommended to strengthen technology training, collaboration between teachers, and intensive supervision support. This research emphasizes the importance of synergy between DIL, DL, and PjBL in creating meaningful learning that instills national values.

Abstract

The increasingly competitive hotel industry in Batam City prompted AP Premier Batam Hotel, formerly Travelodge Batam, to undertake a rebranding initiative in 2023 to strengthen its brand image and market competitiveness. This study examines the digital marketing communication strategy implemented through Instagram to enhance brand awareness after rebranding, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing its implementation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving parties responsible for managing the hotel’s digital marketing activities. The analysis was conducted by relating the findings to the concepts of digital marketing communication, New Media theory, brand awareness, and the AISAS model (Attention, Interest, Search, Action, and Share). The results show that the Instagram-based digital marketing strategy focuses on consistent visual content, optimization of platform features such as Feeds, Stories, and Reels, and active audience engagement, which contributes to increased brand awareness, particularly at the brand recognition level. Supporting factors include content quality, audience engagement, and effective use of Instagram analytics, while inhibiting factors consist of limited resources, algorithm changes, and intense competition on social media.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: adopsi ekonomi hijau; kesadaran hambatan; literasi ekonomi hijau; potensi UMKM ABSTRACT Culinary SMEs in Indonesia face challenges in adopting green economy practices despite the sector having significant potential for regional economic development. Green economy literacy and awareness of implementation barriers remain low. This study aims to analyze the influence of green economy literacy on the potential adoption of sustainable green economy practices with awareness of implementation barriers as a mediating variable among culinary SMEs in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach with purposive sampling of 150 culinary SMEs, data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal three key results: (1) green economy literacy has a significant positive effect on adoption potential (β=0.335, p<0.05); (2) literacy enhances barrier awareness, which in turn triggers proactive solution-seeking behavior (β=0.517, p<0.05); (3) awareness of implementation barriers positively mediates the literacy-adoption relationship (β=0.511, p<0.05), functioning as a catalyst for strategic implementation motivation. This study contributes theoretically by introducing the concept of "barrier awareness as a positive catalyst" as a novel construct that challenges the conventional assumption that barrier perception inhibits adoption. Empirically, this study demonstrates that awareness of barriers, when supported by adequate literacy, functions as a motivational mechanism that encourages proactive behavior among SME actors. This contribution extends the Theory of Planned Behavior and innovation diffusion theory within the green economy context in developing countries, particularly among SMEs. The findings recommend developing structured green economy literacy programs, strengthening collaborative support ecosystems among government, SMEs, and academics, and implementing incentive policies for green economy adoption to accelerate the achievement of local level SDGs. Abstract

Scientific awareness is an essential foundation that should be developed from an early age to support students’ ability to think logically, critically, and rationally. This study aims to describe the implementation and outcomes of an educational counseling activity designed to foster scientific awareness among elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using an educational counseling method conducted at SD IT X Bandar Lampung. The participants consisted of 23 sixth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observation, documentation, analysis of group work, and students’ written reflections. The results indicate that the counseling activities, which were structured systematically and delivered through interactive and contextual learning stages, positively influenced students’ understanding of the meaning and importance of knowledge, encouraged the development of scientific attitudes such as curiosity and confidence in expressing ideas, and increased active participation during learning activities. Furthermore, group work and reflection outcomes show that students were able to relate scientific concepts to everyday life situations in a simple and meaningful way. These findings suggest that educational counseling can serve as an effective alternative strategy to cultivate scientific awareness from an early stage in elementary education.
