Abstract

Background: Holistic admission processes are needed to promote diversity in nursing students. Previous research had identified different variables related to the average grade point at the end of the first semester. There is a need to examine if those variables are associated with ongoing student success. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze experience, attributes, and academic variables for an association with nursing student success. Student success was defined as being an active student at the end of the first year and at the end of the second year of a baccalaureate nursing program in Indonesia. Methods: Binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine what relationship, if any, the variables had with student success, measured at the end of the first and second academic years. The data of 341 nursing students enrolled in August 2018 was analyzed. Results: The variables accounted for 40.3% of the variance at the end of the first year and 24.3% of the variance at the end of the second year. There was a significant (p < .05) relationship between being enrolled at the end of the first year and 1) academic variables of first semester grade point average and the admission score of Raven’s Advanced Progressive Matrices, and 2) attribute variables of reason for entering nursing and brief calling presence scale. A significant relationship was found between being enrolled at the end of the second year and the attribute variable of grit score. No variables had a strong correlation with other variables. Conclusion: Holistic admission processes and promoting student success can create the future of the nursing workforce. Improving the diversity in admitted nursing students will enhance the diversity in the nursing workforce. To promote the success of all students, a variety of support interventions will need to be developed. As students’ calling and grit may play a role in student success, a better understanding is needed. In addition, more research is needed to explore how developing calling and grit throughout the nursing program can impact student success.

Abstract

Background: Patient satisfaction is used as an important marker of the quality of medical services. This has an impact on patient loyalty and increases patient retention. Generally, perceptions of the quality of hospital services are based on patients' assessments of the services provided by the hospital, for example the relationship between patients and nurses, doctors and staff. Purpose: To determine factors related to general patient satisfaction. Method: Quantitative research with hypothesis testing without special treatment of subjects during the research period. Data was obtained through a survey of all patients who visited the emergency room at Budi Mulia Bitung Hospital in January 2024, totaling 170 respondents. The sample in this study was taken using a non-probability sampling method with the criteria, being more than 19 years old, cooperative, having a cell phone, and being able to be guided to fill out an online questionnaire. Results: All indicators in each dimension have an outer loading value of >0.7 and an AVE value for satisfaction with doctor services (0.703), emergency staff (0.860), emergency environment (0.656), general patient satisfaction (0.674). Cronbach's alpha and Composite Reliability values for all variables are above 0.7. The R-Square value for the general satisfaction variable is 0.948 and behavioral intention (0.944), so it can be said to be overfit. Based on the t-statistic value, p-value, and path coefficient, all variables in the research model tested are all significant. Conclusion: Satisfaction with physician services, emergency department staff, and emergency department environment are factors that are associated with general patient satisfaction and behavioral intentions.   Keywords: Behavioral Intention; Patient Satisfaction; Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM)   Pendahuluan: Kepuasan pasien digunakan sebagai penanda penting untuk kualitas layanan medis.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in Indonesia must be a top priority in building superior human resources. With superior resources, Indonesia can compete in the international world. For that, we need superior resources and mastery of modern technology. Schools and teachers must become Agents of Change to shape young people with professional competence. Therefore, learning in the classroom must be directed so that students can master the concepts of the provided material. In addition, teachers need to improve students' self-confidence and their ability to manage themselves so that students are always actively involved in learning. This study aims to determine how the concept mastery of class XI students at SMA XYZ Jakarta is influenced by self-efficacy, self-regulated learning, and student engagement. This study's respondents were 94 students of class XI SMA XYZ Jakarta. Data was collected using a Google form containing 26 statement items using a Likert Scale. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0 with an outer and inner model. The research hypothesis is enough to examine whether the path coefficient sign is by the hypothesis. The results of the study show that self-efficacy, self-regulated learning, and student engagement have a positive effect on concept mastery.
