Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of using PhET (Physics Education Technology) simulations in enhancing critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students on the topic of electricity at the junior high school level. Employing a quantitative approach and experimental design, the study involved 60 ninth-grade students from SMP Asy-Syifa Sukoharjo Boarding School, divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires to measure critical thinking skills and students' learning outcomes. The data analysis revealed that the use of PhET simulations significantly improved critical thinking skills (p=0.008) and learning outcomes (p<0.001). Students in the experimental group demonstrated a higher average improvement in learning outcomes compared to the control group, with consistently enhanced conceptual understanding of electricity. These findings suggest that PhET simulations are an effective interactive learning tool for fostering conceptual comprehension and developing critical thinking skills. Integrating PhET as a digital learning medium can serve as an innovation to improve the quality of science education in the technological era.

Abstract

The challenge of education today is a generation that is starting to weaken its work ethic and religisitas. This makes teachers need to equip students with material that is integrated with Islamic values, including in mathematics learning. The purpose of this study is to describe Islamic values in mathematics learning in the era of 4.0 by knowing how to implement it and mathematical topics that can be integrated with Islamic values. The research subjects consisted of mathematics subject teachers and students. Through observations and interviews, it was found that Islamic values of patience, honesty, never giving up and tawakkal were integrated in mathematics learning. The implementation of Islamic values is carried out by linking mathematics learning materials with the content of the verses of the al-Qur'an

Abstract

Numerical literacy is an important aspect of schooling. Students must be able to count, relate, and perform arithmetic. The purpose of this study is to know deeply the numeracy literacy competency of private student’s junior high school. The following findings are the result of research employing tests as a data collection instrument. There are two students in the high category, five in the medium group, and nineteen in the low category. Based on these findings, it is possible to conclude that children at the research school have poor literacy skills. Furthermore, it is envisaged that schools will seek alternate learning techniques capable of concretizing numeracy literacy principles. Numerical literacy is an important part of the world of education. Students are expected to understand and acquire the competency of numeracy.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the parenting program at Assakiinah Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center in enhancing parents’ awareness of their role as the “madrasah ula” (a child’s first school). The study employs the CSE-UCLA evaluation model using a qualitative with scoring data apporch. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and program assessment instruments involving parents, informants, and the organizing committee. The research results indicate that the parenting program is highly relevant to the needs of Muslim parents. The context evaluation revealed institutional commitment and clear program objectives. The input evaluation showed the availability of adequate human resources and facilities, although further development of parenting modules and educational media is still needed. The process evaluation indicates that program implementation is systematic, with active parental participation and the consistent integration of Islamic values. The product evaluation shows increased parental awareness, reflected in changes in parenting styles and improved cooperation between home and school. Thus, the parenting program at ECE Assakiinah is deemed effective in enhancing parents’ awareness of their role as the “first school” and contributes positively to the quality of ECE.

Abstract

Students’ mathematics learning outcomes are influenced not only by academic ability but also by other factors such as emotional intelligence and learning motivation. However, these two factors are often overlooked in the mathematics learning process in schools. This study aims to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and learning motivation, examining both partial and simultaneous effects on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. A correlational method was used in this study, employing a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques included a questionnaire to measure emotional intelligence and learning motivation, as well as documentation to obtain data on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The instrument consisted of a questionnaire using a 1–4 Likert scale. The results indicate that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and mathematics learning outcomes, a relationship between learning motivation and mathematics learning outcomes, and a simultaneous relationship between both factors and students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This study implies that teachers and schools are expected to pay closer attention to students’ emotional and motivational aspects in mathematics learning to improve learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of learning technology at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Karangwaru Plupuh Sragen, identify enabling and constraining factors, and interpret its impact on student engagement. A qualitative case study with a descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three key informants—Umi Khasanah (principal), Zuli Nurdayati (class teacher), and Sitisamlatun (class teacher)—supported by classroom observations and document review (lesson plans, digital media artifacts, and assessment evidence). Data analysis followed thematic coding, data reduction and display, and conclusion drawing with source and technique triangulation to enhance trustworthiness. The main findings indicate that technology was integrated in three domains: planning (using digital resources to design learning materials), implementation (audiovisual media, interactive quizzes, and learning communication through messaging applications), and assessment (simple platform-based formative tests and digital portfolio documentation). Most practices remain at substitution–augmentation levels, yet initial movement toward modification is evident when teachers redesign learning flows into collaborative and project-based micro-tasks. Enablers include the principal’s instructional leadership, peer-sharing culture, and parent partnership; major barriers involve limited devices, unstable internet connectivity, and varied teacher digital literacy.

Abstract

This study evaluates the education system in improving learning quality at Muhammadiyah Islamic Elementary School Sidokerto, Plupuh, using the Context, Input, Process, and Product model. It employed a qualitative approach with an evaluative case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis. Participants were selected purposively and included the principal, curriculum coordinator, teachers, administrative personnel, school committee representatives, parents, and students. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that the context component was aligned with students’ academic needs, Islamic character development, and Muhammadiyah institutional values. The input component was generally adequate, although digital facilities, teacher professional development, and resource allocation required improvement. The process component indicated that learning, assessment, academic supervision, and parental communication had been implemented, but differentiated instruction and supervision follow-up remained inconsistent. The product component revealed positive development in student participation, discipline, religious habituation, and teacher collaboration. However, the school had not fully integrated academic, behavioural, professional, and stakeholder satisfaction data into a longitudinal evaluation system. The study concludes that learning quality improvement requires a continuous, participatory, measurable, and evidence-based CIPP evaluation cycle.

Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka has become one of the government’s programs in an effort to develop the quality of education by giving schools the freedom to develop content, methods, models, and learning assessments in accordance with the characteristics of the local environment, culture, and issues around, as well as student potential. This study aims to examine the role of the Kurikulum Merdeka improving the quality of education in primary schools. The subject of this study is SDN 8 Suwawal where the school is one of the primary schools in Jepara that has implemented the Independent Curriculum in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research method used is a qualitative research type case study. The research design used is using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka has a positive impact on improving the quality of education in primary schools, including: increasing student motivation to learn, developing creativity and 21st-century skills, strengthening character and national values in accordance with the 6 dimensions of Pancasila, and increasing teacher independence and professionalism.

Abstract

Statistics as a subject matter for mathematics lessons is taught from elementary school. Statistics play an important role in the progress of a nation. The role of the teacher as a person who transfers knowledge to students must pay attention to the diversity of their students so that they are able to apply appropriate methods, models and strategies in the teaching and learning process. Many teachers fail to teach statistics material in class VI elementary schools. This failure was caused by teachers not paying attention to the diversity of their students. This research aims to provide an alternative solution for how differentiated learning can be used as a way to teach statistical material in class VI elementary schools. The method used in this research uses descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis to provide a comprehensive picture of the learning process in class and the results obtained with differentiated learning. The results obtained from this research are that differentiated learning is able to improve student learning outcomes, especially in statistical material in elementary schools. This result can be seen from the average student score at the beginning, namely 47.95 or in the very low category, increasing to an average of 74.55 or in the medium category.

Abstract

Pengembangan teknologi komputer memudahkan berbagai kelompok untuk menggunakannya di berbagai bidang kehidupan, termasuk bidang pendidikan. Komputer dapat berkontribusi secara signifikan pada proses pembelajaran. Dalam kasus matematika, terutama pada kursus aljabar linier, kriteria program matematika didukung oleh konseptualisasi gagasan tentang aljabar melalui perangkat lunak MATLAB. Aljabar linier adalah salah satu cabang matematika, seringkali banyak perhitungan yang masih dilakukan siswa secara manual. Proses perhitungan ini bisa menjadi hambatan yang sulit bagi siswa saat memahami materi. Karena itu, diperlukan aplikasi MATLAB yang akan membantu mahasiswa untuk membuat perhitungan lebih mudah. Penelitian memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan dapat menghasilkan inovasi pada siswa untuk memahami bahan aljabar linier. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian studi pustka dimana para peneliti menyelidiki teori program dan teknik linier untuk menyelesaikan masalah program linier menggunakan MATLAB. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan perangkat lunak MATLAB sangat efektif dalam membantu mahasiswa memahami konsep dasar vektor dan matriks. MATLAB memungkinkan visualisasi dan manipulasi data dalam bentuk yang lebih konkret dan interaktif, sehingga memudahkan mahasiswa dalam mengerjakan operasi matematika.
