Abstract

Indonesian folktales, as part of the nation’s cultural heritage, contain local wisdom that reflects the worldview and collective values of Indonesian society. In the context of teaching Indonesian to speakers of other languages (BIPA), folktales serve not only as linguistic input but also as pedagogical tools for introducing cultural values and fostering character development among foreign learners. This study aims to examine the forms of self-transformation experienced by BIPA learners through the activity of rewriting Indonesian folktales. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, grounded in transformative learning theory and hermeneutic analysis. The participants consisted of five advanced-level BIPA learners from Malaysia, South Korea, and China enrolled in a language program at an Indonesian state university. Data were collected through rewritten narrative texts and in-depth interviews, then analyzed hermeneutically through stages of initial comprehension, theme identification, contextual interpretation, and reflection on transformation. The findings reveal that learners experienced personal growth by interpreting cultural values such as livelihood, cooperation, and deliberation, and internalizing character traits such as honesty, responsibility, and respect for others. The act of rewriting served as a reflective process that fostered cross-cultural understanding and cognitive-affective transformation, thereby enriching BIPA learning experiences. This study recommends the integration of folktales as value-based and culturally grounded learning materials in BIPA instruction.

Abstract

This study introduces a tourism-based literature learning model to enhance students' motivation, literary appreciation, and cultural literacy in higher education. Traditional literature teaching often lacks engagement and sociocultural context. By integrating cultural and tourism experiences, this model addresses these gaps. Forty undergraduate literature students participated, with data collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Results showed motivation scores increased from 3.05 to 4.25, and participation rose from 37.5% to 75%. Additionally, 82.5% of students reported stronger connections with local culture. Expert validation rated the model highly feasible with a score of 4.4. This approach effectively bridges text and culture, boosting student motivation and engagement, and strengthening cultural literacy.

Abstract

The animated series Upin and Ipin has had a wide-ranging impact on the Malaysian-Indonesian community. Jarjit is an influential figures in animated series. Jarjit is popular because he is good at singing rhymes while communicating with other figures. The purpose of this study is to examine the charm of Jarjit's pantun and its relevance to cultural diplomacy instruments to strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia relations. The method used was qualitative, with a content analysis approach involving several stages. The data source in this study is the Les'Copauque YouTube channel, while the research data are Jarjit rhymes from 45 episodes of Upin and Ipin. The findings of this study are that Jarjit's rhymes in the animated series Upin and Ipin have a unique charm in terms of the characteristics of Jarjit rhymes, which always start with two or three as the sampiran of the rhymes; Jarjit, who comes from Indian ethnicity; the type of karmina rhymes; Jarjit rhymes as a children's oral tradition; and pantun jarjit as a representation of multiculturalism. Based on the charm of Jarjit's pantun, the poem is entitled that Jarjit's rhyme is an instrument of cultural diplomacy that can strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia relations. AbstrakSerial animasi Upin dan Ipin memberi dampak yang luas biasa bagi masyarakat Malaysia-Indonesia. Salah satu tokoh yang berpengaruh di dalam serial animasi tersebut adalah Jarjit. Jarjit populer karena piawai berpantun ketika berkomunikasi dengan tokoh-tokoh lainnya. Dari fenomena tersebut, tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji pesona pantun Jarjit dan relevansinya pada instrumen diplomasi budaya untuk memperkokoh hubungan Malaysia-Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan konten analisis melalui beberapa tahapan. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kanal Youtube Les’Copauque sedangkan data penelitian adalah pantun Jarjit dari 45 episode Upin dan Ipin. Temuan penelitian ini adalah pantun Jarjit dalam serial animasi Upin dan Ipin memiliki pesona yang unik ditinjau dari ciri khas pantun Jarjit yang selalu berawal dari dua tiga sebagai sampiran pantunnya,  Jarjit yang berasal dari etnis India, jenis pantun karmina, pantun Jarjit sebagai tradisi lisan anak, dan pantun Jarjit sebagai representasi multikulturalisme. Berdasarkan pesona pantun Jarjit tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa pantun Jarjit merupakan instrumen diplomasi budaya yang dapat memperkokoh hubungan Malaysia-Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to develop environmentally friendly electrochemical edukits integrated with the Culturally Responsive Transformative Teaching (CRTT) approach. This study involved 32 grade XII MIPA students at SMA Laboratorium UM with a pretest and posttest design. This study shows a significant increase in learning outcomes after using the edu-kit. The data obtained also meets parametric tests, indicating an increase in conceptual understanding of electrochemistry material. The edu-kit helps create more active, contextual learning that is closer to students' lives because they can relate electrochemistry concepts to real situations, environmental awareness, and local cultural values. Overall, the electrochemistry edukit not only improves students' cognitive understanding but also strengthens cultural relevance and sustainability values in chemistry learning.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a learning model based on Learning Management System (LMS) that is integrated with gamification strategies and TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) content to be used in making educational games for students of the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) of Cultural Arts. The main goal of this development is to accelerate students' technological literacy and pedagogy to be able to design and produce educational games that are relevant to the context of art learning. The model was developed using the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, but only focused on the initial three stages, namely Analysis, Design, and Development. The analysis stage was carried out to identify learning needs and map the level of digital literacy and pedagogic of students. The design stage includes designing the learning model structure, gamification elements, and TPACK-based content integration. While the development stage involves the creation of a gamified LMS prototype and validation tests by subject matter experts, media experts, and limited users. The results of the development show that t(Prasetyo dkk., 2024)his learning model is feasible to be implemented and received a positive response from PPG Arts and Culture students. The resulting model not only enriches the digital learning experience, but also improves students' ability to design educational games based on art and culture in a contextual and technology-integrated manner.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi turut mempengaruhi perubahan sosial masyarakat terutama sifat hedonisme yang marak terjadi saat ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya hidup hedonisme tokoh dalam novel A Very Yuppy Wedding karya Ika Natassa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui teknik pustaka, simak, dan dokumentasi berupa narasi dan dialog yang menunjukkan gaya hidup hedonisme dalam novel A Very Yuppy Wedding karya Ika Natassa Dari hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa tokoh-tokoh dalam novel A Very Yuppy Wedding karya Ika Natassa memiliki gaya hidup hedonisme. Bentuk-bentuk gaya hidup hedonisme berupa gaya hidup dalam hal makanan atau minuman, gaya hidup dalam melakukan kesenangan atau hobi, gaya hidup dalam hal berpakaian dan gaya hidup dalam beropini.

Abstract

The Gedeh Well is one of the oldest heritage wells in Petung Village, Panceng District, Gresik Regency. The purpose of this study is to describe and examine the functions of the Gedeh Well. This study uses functional theory and a descriptive qualitative approach. The analysis examines the various forms and functions of the Gedeh Well in the Petung Village community. Then, the data is connected to the theory used. Based on the analysis, several functions of the Gedeh Well were identified: a projection system, a tool for validating rules and cultural institutions, a tool for educating children, and a tool for coercion and supervision to ensure that community norms are always adhered to by its members. The research techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation.
