Abstract

This study aims to determine the benefits of using machine images in improving the writing skills of cadets. Quasi-experimental designed was used by the researcher because the subjects were not randomly assigned. The population was the Polytechnic Bumi Akpelni of Marine Mechanical Engineering Technology Cadets in 2022/2023 academic year. In this study, the researcher used purposive sampling technique. The samples consisted of the cadets of Batch 57 semester 3 consisting of two classes. At the beginning of data collection, the researcher prepared the data through a lesson plan, namely the instruction instrument for the writing test and statements for the questionnaire. The teaching phase was carried out to measure whether both were appropriate, pre-test to find cadets' initial abilities and post-the test tests whether the treatment is effective in learning descriptive text. Through data analysis used, namely the scoring system in the form of rubrics, then to see significant differences in scores through studies of normality and homogeneity. From the pre-test result, the average score obtained was 56.66 from the experimental group, while it was 57.77 from the control group. After getting the treatment, the post-test average score of experimental group was 77.77 and control group was 70.10. From the t-test analysis, it was found that t-count was greater than t-table (2.50> 1.55). It indicates that there is a significant difference of the scores from the two groups. Therefore, the researcher concluded that Learned Image Machine is very helpful in improving the ability to write Descriptive Text compared to ordinary teaching without this media.

Abstract

Ki Hajar Dewantara mencetuskan sebuah pendidikan dengan berlandaskan pada nilai kehidupan. Apabila hal ini terealisasi dengan baik, akan banyak terlahir generasi-generasi bangsa yang memiliki karakter dan moral yang positif. Namun kenyataannya di lapangan masih berbanding terbalik. Moral peserta didik justru semakin merosot setiap tahunnya. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, perlu adanya upaya untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai luhur kepada peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji kelayakan media pembelajaran cerita bergambar Serat Sana Sunu sebagai implementasi nilai luhur Ki Hajar Dewantara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode R&D dengan model pengembangan ADDIE. Data berupa data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, observasi, dan uji coba produk. Hasil penelitian memperoleh persentase sebesar 98,2% dengan kategori sangat baik dan layak untuk digunakan. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran cerita bergambar Serat Sana Sunu yang telah dikembangkan layak untuk diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract The objective of this research was about finding out if there is a significantly different use of the Instagram media for increasing the cadets’ ability to write Recount text in Technical Department compared to the use of English book media on students' ability to write short recount texts. The samples in this study were two classes of cadets of the Technical Department, Politeknik Bumi Akpelni involving 48 cadets. The experimental group was taught using Instagram as a new way of learning through social media in sample groups and groups taught using English books or handouts in non-examples groups. To find out whether there is an important difference between the final examination scores of the sample and non-sample groups, the t-test was calculated, and it was found that the t-value was higher than the t-table (3, 109 > 2.00). According to the results of the research that has been carried out for 1 semester, the researchers conclude that there is an important effect on using the new method, namely the Instagram social media application, compared to the use of English books or handouts that have been used the old way on the cadets' ability to write recount texts. This means that the t-test is greater than the t-table. The alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. In addition, through a new method of following young people's technology, namely social media Instagram as a medium in teaching English, especially recount text, it is very significant to improve cadets' writing skills.

Abstract

This study introduces a tourism-based literature learning model to enhance students' motivation, literary appreciation, and cultural literacy in higher education. Traditional literature teaching often lacks engagement and sociocultural context. By integrating cultural and tourism experiences, this model addresses these gaps. Forty undergraduate literature students participated, with data collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Results showed motivation scores increased from 3.05 to 4.25, and participation rose from 37.5% to 75%. Additionally, 82.5% of students reported stronger connections with local culture. Expert validation rated the model highly feasible with a score of 4.4. This approach effectively bridges text and culture, boosting student motivation and engagement, and strengthening cultural literacy.

Abstract

Indonesian folktales, as part of the nation’s cultural heritage, contain local wisdom that reflects the worldview and collective values of Indonesian society. In the context of teaching Indonesian to speakers of other languages (BIPA), folktales serve not only as linguistic input but also as pedagogical tools for introducing cultural values and fostering character development among foreign learners. This study aims to examine the forms of self-transformation experienced by BIPA learners through the activity of rewriting Indonesian folktales. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, grounded in transformative learning theory and hermeneutic analysis. The participants consisted of five advanced-level BIPA learners from Malaysia, South Korea, and China enrolled in a language program at an Indonesian state university. Data were collected through rewritten narrative texts and in-depth interviews, then analyzed hermeneutically through stages of initial comprehension, theme identification, contextual interpretation, and reflection on transformation. The findings reveal that learners experienced personal growth by interpreting cultural values such as livelihood, cooperation, and deliberation, and internalizing character traits such as honesty, responsibility, and respect for others. The act of rewriting served as a reflective process that fostered cross-cultural understanding and cognitive-affective transformation, thereby enriching BIPA learning experiences. This study recommends the integration of folktales as value-based and culturally grounded learning materials in BIPA instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ learning needs in electrochemistry learning based on the Culturally Responsive Transformative Teaching (CRTT) framework. CRTT is a pedagogical approach that integrates students’ cultural backgrounds and lived experiences into learning to make it more inclusive and meaningful. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method complemented by qualitative data from open responses. A total of 32 Grade XII MIPA students from UM Laboratory High School participated in the study. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire consisting of 15 closed and 5 open-ended items. The results show that 64% of students have a moderate understanding of electrochemistry, with the most difficult subtopics being Galvanic and Electrolysis Cells. Students expressed strong interest (80%) in contextual learning through simple and eco-friendly edukits, as well as enthusiasm for integrating local culture such as keris plating and natural electrolytes from plants. These findings emphasize the importance of developing CRTT-based learning tools that connect chemical concepts with students’ cultural realities to foster deeper conceptual understanding, engagement, and transformative learning experiences.

Abstract

This study investigates the moral teachings of Serat Papali and their implications for strengthening character education in Indonesian senior high schools. The research is motivated by the need to integrate local wisdom into modern educational frameworks to address challenges in developing students’ moral, social, and cognitive competencies. The study employs a qualitative content analysis method, examining the text of Serat Papali to identify ethical values and their relevance to the eight dimensions of the Senior High School Graduate Profile. The findings reveal that the text provides a coherent moral framework through three main pillars: self-ethics, including reflection, humility, and inner discipline; social ethics, emphasizing harmony and mutual respect; and ethics toward God, representing spiritual maturity. These values contribute to enhancing critical thinking, autonomy, collaboration, citizenship, creativity, productivity, well-being, and ethical communication among students. The study concludes that integrating Serat Papali into formal curricula can strengthen students’ character development while preserving cultural identity, offering a sustainable and contextually relevant approach to character education. The research also suggests future studies to explore practical strategies for curriculum integration and to assess the impact of these ethical teachings on student behavior and learning outcomes in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know what kinds of sexual abuse that have been done to the women figures in the novels “Perempuan di Titik Nol” by Nawal El Saadawi and “The Color Purple” by Alice Walker. Besides, the purpose of the study is to know the impact of sexual abuse that happened to the women. To achieve the objectives above, the study used qualitative design and feminism approach. The re- sult of the studyshows that sexual abuse happened to the leading women figures in the novels from before, during, and after theirmarriage. The kinds of sexual abuse which happened to the leading women figures are gender harrassment, seduction behaviour, sexual bribery, sexual coercion, dan sexual imposition.

Abstract

Simplex seal merupakan komponen penting pada sistem stern tube yang berfungsi mencegah kebocoran oli pelumas serta masuknya air laut ke dalam sistem pelumasan shaft propeller. Kegagalan pada komponen ini dapat menimbulkan dampak teknis maupun lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penyebab dan dampak kegagalan simplex seal terhadap sistem pelumasan stern tube di kapal MT. Kuang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus melalui observasi langsung selama praktik laut, wawancara dengan awak mesin, serta studi dokumentasi Planned Maintenance System (PMS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegagalan simplex seal disebabkan oleh benturan mekanis akibat kapal kandas, getaran berlebih pada putaran kritis poros, peningkatan suhu pelumas, serta kelelahan material seal. Dampak yang ditimbulkan meliputi penurunan kualitas pelumasan, potensi kerusakan bearing stern tube, dan risiko pencemaran laut akibat kebocoran oli.

Abstract

This study aims to develop environmentally friendly electrochemical edukits integrated with the Culturally Responsive Transformative Teaching (CRTT) approach. This study involved 32 grade XII MIPA students at SMA Laboratorium UM with a pretest and posttest design. This study shows a significant increase in learning outcomes after using the edu-kit. The data obtained also meets parametric tests, indicating an increase in conceptual understanding of electrochemistry material. The edu-kit helps create more active, contextual learning that is closer to students' lives because they can relate electrochemistry concepts to real situations, environmental awareness, and local cultural values. Overall, the electrochemistry edukit not only improves students' cognitive understanding but also strengthens cultural relevance and sustainability values in chemistry learning.
