Abstract

Abstract

Background : Introduction The use of illicit drugs is a global epidemic, with prevalence varying depending on the type of drug and the location of use (Degenhardt and Wall, 2012). Social factors at the individual, family, and community levels are associated with the initiation and use of illicit drugs. The use of illicit drugs that is prevalent among young adult males with sufficient economic status can negatively impact the productivity of future generations (Blumstein, 1995). Objective : Objective The objective is to identify the characteristics of respondents who were illicit drug users in Indonesia in 2017. The characteristics examined include gender, education level, marital status, closeness to family, risk environment, access to drugs, and workplace location. Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : Method This research design uses a cross-sectional study. Data were obtained from a national survey conducted by the National Narcotics Board (BNN) and Center for Health Research, University of Indonesia, in 2017. This survey was conducted on groups of workers in various cities and districts throughout the provinces in Indonesia, with a sample size of 34,397 respondents. Data collection used a structured questionnaire filled out by the respondents themselves. The analysis used is a descriptive Results : Result The results of the study showed the characteristics of drugs. where men were 77.8%, medium education was 60.5%, married were 51.5%, closeness to family was 84.5%, non-risk environment was 64.6%, difficult access to drugs was 78.0%, and urban areas were 57.9%. Conclusion/Lesson Learned : The results of this study indicate that despite family support and limited access to drugs, drug abuse continues to occur, especially in certain population groups. Abstract

This study is about students’ error in perceiving and producing English palato alveolar sounds. The aims of this study are to describe how well the students perceive and produce English palato alveolar sounds and to find out the most common problems/errors encountered by the students whether in the level perception or production. This study used mix-method design. There were thirty eighth grade students as the sample of this study taken by convenience sampling technique. The data of this study were gained from two kinds of test, namely perception test in the form of listening test and production test in the form of speaking test. The results of both listening and speaking test were the source of data for this study. This study revealed that the eighth grade students were good in perceiving English palato alveolar sounds with errors 36% and were fair in producing English palato alveolar sounds with errors 53%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the most common problems faced by the students were at the production level and there were also some factors influenced them in producing English palato alveolar sounds, namely the non-existence of English palato alveolar sounds, the influence of orthographic writing, the influence of distractor sounds and the interference of mother tongue. It is suggested that the students practice a lot in pronouncing English palato alveolar sounds and the teachers provide many learning strategies and improve their teaching quality.

Abstract

The cadets' ability to complete the given language activity and understand the speaking competency constitutes success in speaking English. As a result, the video conference implementation for the Speaking for Formal Interactions course at Ivet University's third-semester cadets in Ship Electrical Engineering has gone off without a hitch. Utilizing different techniques, plans of action, and extra supporting systems like Quizizz, WhatsApp Groups, Zoom Meetings, and others helps with implementation. Speaking professors and cadets also mostly benefit from video conferences in terms of efficacy, ease of connection, technology, and cost rather than experiencing any drawbacks In order to collect the data, a number of approaches, including observation, interviewing, and a questionnaire, were employed to collect the data. The human instrument, observation sheet, questionnaire, and interview guide were study tools at the same time. A technique from Miles and Hubberman (1991) was used to analyze the data that had been gathered. Additionally, the current study used methodological triangulation, which is the use of multiple data-collection techniques, including observation, interview, and questionnaire. In addition to using video conferencing for speaking, the attitudes of the lecturers and the cadets regarding using video conferencing for Speaking for Formal Interactions were also examined. The 15 items in the questionnaire were divided into four categories based on factors including video conferencing efficacy, accessibility, cost, and technology.

Direct teaching of literature will aid in the development of students' understanding, which will include insight into human traditions and culture. Dongkrek is a Javanese traditional art form that may be utilized as a guide and role model for children in character development and social behavior through literature study for class VII junior high school students. Based on the foregoing, the purpose of this study is to define Javanese cultural values in the digital comic Dongkrek, as well as their significance to the literary learning of class VII middle school students. The research approach employed was a qualitative descriptive method. Mutual cooperation, rukun guyub, grapyak semanak (friendly), lembah manah (humble), ewuh pakewuh (respectful/mutual respect), pangerten (mutual respect), andhap ashor (virtuous), and tepo seliro (tolerance) were discovered as Javanese cultural values. We create a feeling of empathy rationally via ideals, which might foster a sense of tolerance amongst individuals. The eight noble principles of Javanese culture presented in Arief Bayu Harisma's digital comic Dongkrek are vital for pupils to grasp as a developed character identity as well as a benchmark for conduct and social management. This is also in accordance with the general learning achievements of class VII students in Phase D, and in accordance with the learning objectives in narrative text material, fantasy tales and folk tales (Activity 9 Comparing Characterizations in Folklore Comics) Class VII Indonesian Language Education.
