Abstract

Noise is an unwanted sound from an activity over a period of time that can interfere with human health and environmental comfort. One of the noise caused by transportation activities is train noise. To reduce the noise, it can be achieved by building a noise dampening building between the railroad and the residential area. An attempt to create a sustainable noise reducer is Wood Platic Composite (WPC) which is made in the form of sonic crystals. This research aims to analyze the potential application of WPC with square sonic crystal model as a noise reducer for railway activities. This research uses an experimental method conducted in a residential area near the railroad tracks by testing the sound intensity of sonic crystals made from square lattice WPC with a diameter of 8.2 cm and a height of 2 meters. The test was conducted by placing the sonic crystal 3 meters away from the railroad axle, while the Sound Level Meter (SLM) was placed 1, 2, and 3 meters behind the sonic crystal. The method of data collection and analysis in this study used the Ministry of Environment No. 48 of 1996. The results showed that the sonic crystal made from square lattice WPC can reduce noise by 13.54%.

Abstract

Synthetic insecticides used to eradicate cockroaches leads to ecosystem damage and pest resistance, so there need environmental friendly natural insecticides. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of calamansi leaf extract (Citrofortunella microcarpa) as a natural insecticide against the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana). The leaves of C. microcarpa were extracted using the maceration method with 96% ethanol. The extract was prepared in 5 (five) concentrations: 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 90%. Its effectiveness was tested using a spraying method and observed over 9 (nine) hours  on the trial. The data shows decreased in the activity of P. americana and morphological changes that ultimately led to death. Mortality data were analyzed using probit analysis to determine the LC₅₀ value. The phytochemical screening of leaf C. microcarpa extract revealed the presence of tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The leaf C. microcarpa extract was effective in killing P. americana, with mortality rates of 33%, 83%, 100%, 100%, and 100% at concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 90%, respectively, and an LC₅₀ of 23.85%. Leaf C. Microcarpa extract containing tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The 60% concentration demonstrated the highest effectiveness in increasing the mortality rate of P. americana. Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower local communities by enhancing their knowledge and skills in utilizing green grass jelly (Cyclea barbata Miers) as an alternative ingredient for healthy food and beverage products. Conducted over three days, the training involved 12 participants with diverse backgrounds, including homemakers, youth, and micro-entrepreneurs. The program adopted a participatory training approach that combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, including plant identification, jelly extraction techniques, hygiene practices, and product innovation. Pre- and post-training assessments revealed significant improvement in participants’ understanding and abilities. Initially, only 25% of participants were familiar with the plant's benefits and usage. After the training, 100% of participants demonstrated comprehension of the nutritional value and processing methods, and 75% successfully created product variants such as fruit-infused jelly drinks and herbal puddings. The training encouraged creativity and showed the potential of green grass jelly as a sustainable, low-cost, and health-promoting ingredient suitable for micro-entrepreneurial ventures. The program concluded that community-based food innovation training can serve as an effective model for promoting local resources, enhancing food security, and developing rural economies. It also emphasized the importance of combining traditional knowledge with modern food processing techniques to generate added value and marketable products.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the TPACK skills of chemistry teachers at state high schools in Bengkulu City. The questionnaire results showed that all aspects of TPACK were in the excellent category (mean 85.96%). However, the results of the observations were lower than expected overall, particularly for TK, TCK, and TPACK aspects, which were still considered fair to good. This signals a disconnect between teacher beliefs and the in-class execution. Supporting factors for TPACK implementation include school support, facilities, and teacher motivation, while hindering factors include limited student device ownership, limited internet connectivity, and limited learning time. Therefore, the application of TPACK by chemistry teachers is well implemented but could be further improved by creating technology that is more consistent across learning activities.

Abstract

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the low interest in learning among students in the subject of Islamic Cultural History, despite the fact that this phenomenon has a significant impact on education. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of the Kahoot! application on student interest in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam, SKI) in the twelfth grade at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kota Bogor. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental approach and a non-equivalent design, with a sample of 60 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a learning interest questionnaire instrument designed to measure student engagement, interest, attention, and enjoyment, and were analyzed using an independent sample t-test. The results indicate that there is a significant effect of the Kahoot! application on student interest in the SKI subject for twelfth grade at MAN 1 Kota Bogor. The main conclusion of this study is that the analysis results from the independent sample t-test using SPSS 26.0 show that Kahoot! is an effective interactive learning tool for increasing student interest, evidenced by higher evaluation scores in the experimental class. Therefore, Kahoot! is recommended as an alternative for teaching SKI as it creates a fun and engaging learning environment. The implications of this research encompass theoretical aspects, where this study contributes to strengthening the theory regarding the importance of interactive learning media in enhancing student interest, as well as practical aspects for teachers, where the use of Kahoot! can be a fun teaching strategy that improves student engagement in the classroom. These findings can serve as a basis for schools or educational institutions to integrate interactive digital media into the curriculum, especially in technology-based learning.
