Abstract

Abstract

Background: Protected forests in the Moramo District play a critical role in maintaining ecosystem balance, but they are increasingly threatened by human activities such as illegal logging and land use change. Vegetation density shifts can disrupt ecosystem functions, particularly the hydrological cycle. This study aims to analyze spatial and temporal changes in vegetation density in the Moramo District Protected Forest using remote sensing. Methods: To detect vegetation density changes, the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) algorithm was employed using satellite imagery from Landsat OLI 8 (2013 and 2018) and Landsat OLI 9 (2023), processed with GIS software. NDVI values range from -1 to 1, allowing for vegetation condition assessment based on spectral reflectance. Findings: Results show a degradation trend in dense vegetation, with a decrease of 67.25 ha (2.86%) during 2013–2018 and 289.11 ha (12.31%) during 2018–2023. Conversely, moderately dense vegetation increased by 68.45 ha (2.91%) and 300.21 ha (12.78%) over the same periods, indicating signs of vegetation regeneration. Conclusion: Despite some vegetation recovery, forest ecosystems continue to face high pressure. More adaptive conservation strategies supported by spatial monitoring are needed to reduce degradation and support long-term sustainability. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study uniquely integrates a multi-temporal NDVI-based approach with socio-ecological analysis and GIS tools to monitor vegetation dynamics. It offers valuable insights for adaptive forest management in the Moramo District Protected Forest, an area previously lacking detailed environmental change analysis.

Abstract

Information literacy is an essential skill for elementary school students, particularly in understanding disaster mitigation materials. Engaging learning media can help enhance this ability. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using disaster mitigation-based picture storybook media on the information literacy of elementary school students. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of fourth-grade students at Cimangkok Elementary School, with tests as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test. The average pretest score of the experimental class was 45.6, while the control class scored 44. The average posttest score of the experimental class increased to 75, compared to 53 in the control class. The hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.001 < a = 0.05, indicating that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on these results, the use of disaster mitigation-based picture storybook media has a significant effect on improving elementary school students’ information literacy.

Abstract

This community service activity is conducted regularly every semester by lecturers involving 450 students from various study programs, collaborating with local health centers (Puskesmas) in South Tangerang. The purpose of the activity is to conduct health screenings to prevent and control Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as anemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and obesity. The methods used include health education for students on NCD prevention and control, measurements of height, weight, upper arm circumference, blood pressure checks, random blood glucose tests, and a questionnaire on smoking habits. The results showed that 3 participants had a history of hypertension and 1 had diabetes mellitus. Additionally, 23 participants were identified as being at risk of chronic diseases. Follow-up actions included in-depth counseling and referral to the nearest Puskesmas. All participants were also found to be non-smokers. This activity aims to raise awareness about NCD prevention, followed by further health checks and sponsorship support in the future.

Abstract

Abstract A person's level of physical fitness can be seen from activities such as, students who take part in lecture activities need physical fitness to support the teaching and learning process on campus optimally. Physical examination which includes blood pressure, weight, height, waist circumference can be an indicator to determine physical fitness. Anemia also affects a person's nutritional status. The incidence of anemia in Indonesia is still quite high. Based on the Riskesdas 2018, it is stated that the prevalence of age 15-24 years in Indonesia is 32% anemia, meaning that 3-4 out of 10 teenagers suffer from anemia. The solution to overcome this problem was carried out by community service activities by lecturers and students at STIKes Widya Dharma Husada Tangerang with a target of 100 students. The implementation of this community service is carried out with the following methods: Blood pressure checks, weighing, measuring height, waist circumference, health counseling and giving Tablet Tambah Darah (TTD) for free to students. Most of the service participants do not know that anemia can occur in adolescents because of suboptimal nutritional intake and lack of physical activity so that participants are given health counseling to get education related to the knowledge of the importance of maintaining physical fitness for health and knowledge to prevent anemia. By holding this service activity, it is hoped that it can trigger the awareness of students to care more about health, routinely check health and assist government programs in reducing the incidence of anemia in the community. The follow-up to the results of this community service is that health checks, health counseling and the provision of Tablet Tambah Darah (TTD) can be carried out in different places so that more students understand the importance of health and can reduce the incidence of anemia. Abstract

This study seeks to determine the effect of the small group discussion learning model with using audiovisual media in class V Elementary School. This study used a quasi-experimental qualitative research approach with 40 class X students at SD IT Adzkia 3 as subjects. The results of this study found that the learning model was small group discussion using media audio visual influential to class science learning outcomes VA Class And VB Class SDIT Adzkia 3. This is reflected by the t test (Independent Sample Test)which reflects the value of t = 3.701 and a significance (Sig) of 0.001 < 0.005 so can concluded Ha is accepted and H0 rejected. This research has proven that the application of small group discussions using audiovisual media is very important in improving the quality of student learning so that it is effective for teachers to apply it so that science learning on ecosystem material runs optimally.
