Abstract

The rapid change in today’s society forces higher education to adapt to it and transform to prepare their graduates for the future, which entails regulating minimum language proficiency levels for a graduation requirement in universities. This study aims to investigate university students’ English proficiency level to revisit English language requirements at higher education institutions. To do so, this study used simple descriptive research using a TOEFL Prediction test administered to 400 university students at the University of Riau. The score was converted to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) to investigate whether the scores are relevant to the university’s needs. The results show that the majority of students (N=258) have achieved the A2 CEFR level (Basic User – way stage). This suggests that it has fulfilled the minimum requirement set by the university. However, this is unlikely to reflect the objectives envisioned by the institution. Therefore, recommendations aroused from the findings will be provided in this research.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the andragogical approach, social support, and community participation in accelerating stunting reduction in Sibuak Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency. The objectives of the study are to assess the levels of these three factors and to analyze their influence on stunting reduction efforts. Specifically, the study aims to (1) evaluate the extent of the andragogical approach applied in stunting reduction, (2) measure the level of social support provided, (3) assess the level of community participation, and (4) determine the effects of social support and community participation on the andragogical approach in the context of stunting reduction. To do so, this study employs a quantitative design with a sample of 126 fertile couples from a population of 183 in the village. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine central tendencies and inferential statistics to explore relationships between the variables. The results show a significant positive influence of social support on the andragogical approach, accounting for 75.1% of the variance. Community participation also had a significant positive influence, explaining 73.7% of the variance. Additionally, combined social support and community participation had a significant impact on the andragogical approach, with a total effect of 75.3%. The findings suggest that enhancing social support and encouraging community participation are crucial for strengthening the andragogical approach in reducing stunting. These insights can inform policymakers and health practitioners in designing more effective stunting reduction programs.

Abstract

This study examines the gap between numeracy scores presented in the national Education Report and the actual assessment results of students at SDN 184 Pekanbaru. The primary objective of this research is to analyze the extent to which macro-level national data aligns with the actual numeracy achievements of students in the classroom. The research subjects consisted of 20 fifth-grade students selected using purposive sampling techniques based on the diversity of their academic achievements. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection methods including the analysis of the 2025 Education Report document and field-based numeracy assessments developed to measure students’ numeracy competencies. The numeracy domains analyzed include number, algebra, geometry, as well as data and uncertainty. The findings revealed that the numeracy score in the Education Report was 53.33%, generally indicating the attainment of minimum competency. However, the students' actual assessment results showed an average score of only 46.70%, indicating a performance gap. Students tended to perform better in the number and geometry domains but faced significant challenges in algebraic reasoning and data interpretation. These findings underscore the importance of cross-verifying national report data with classroom assessments to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of learning outcomes. The study recommends that schools conduct regular and contextual evaluations of numeracy learning and implement teaching strategies better aligned with students’ cognitive readiness and real-life experiences. The results offer practical implications for instructional planning, learning design, and the implementation of targeted numeracy interventions in primary school environments.

Abstract

To adapt to their students' demands, instructors must always be up-to-date, master technology and information advancements, and be proficient with technology. In addition to technological gadgets and other teaching aspects that contribute to achieving educational objectives, the teacher's personality is a crucial factor in the success of education. Because interpersonal contact may foster connection and warmth between instructors and students, technological advances do not inherently render this interaction obsolete or even obsolete. Whether or whether communication is effective is generally decided by both parties; yet, because teacher learning is paramount, effective communication mostly depends on the instructor's personality. When utilizing technology, instructors must use network apps for communication. Network apps maintained by educators should be stocked with student-friendly and valuable content. For example, they create online character-building groups with students based on widely accepted norms.
