Areca catechu seed contains antioxydant substances, supposed to have anticancer property. This research therefore addressed to examine the inhibitory effect of Areca catechu seed ethanolic extract (EP) on proliferating breast cancer cells, MCF-7. Areca catechu seed ethanolic extract (EP) standardization was done according to the standard of BPOM. Areca catechu seed powder extraction was done using ethanol 96%. Cytotoxic assay â to get the value of IC50 and to prevent the cell proliferation (using doubling time assay) â was carried out by using MTT assay. Apoptosis observation was done by acrydine orange- etidium bromide staining method (double staining). The result showed that treatment with Areca catechu seed ethanolic extract (25-100 µg/m) for 48 h caused 13-84% growth inhibition (IC 5077 µg/mL) of the cells, while arecoline (ARE) treatment (10-500 µg/mL) showed 8-73% inhibition (IC50 180 µg/mL). The extract also inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis. These results conclude that Areca catechu seed ethanolic extract (EP) possesses antiproliferative effect through growth inhibition and apoptosis induction.Key words:MCF-7, Areca catechu, antiproliferativeÂ

Sri Handayani ; Todays business growth in the life insurance sector in Indonesia continues to improve, but to learn from the experience of the banking sector, it should be examined whether the existence of the businesses owned nationwide in the life insurance sector becomes desperate and lost market share in the country to deal with businesses that come from overseas managed to win greater trust from the buyers insurance protection services. This study aimed to analyze the strengths and weaknesses in the face of opportunities and threats of life insurance marketing strategy AJB Bumiputera 1912 Bengkulu. The sample in this study is the assumption of an effective strategy to maximize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of the company and the opportunities and threats. The method used is the SWOT analysis. These results indicate that the AJB Bumiputera 1912 Bengkulu workable strategy is a strategy of horizontal integration, cost efficiency and the use of high technology to the payment system and insurance product ordering system, all of this should be directed to customer satisfaction.Keyword: SWOT Analysis, Marketing Strategy

Teacher certification is one of the governmentâs efforts in improving the quality of teachers so that the quality of learning in schools. The research aims to evaluate the policy of increasing the professionalism of teachers and formulate SD increase in competency models that have been certified elementary school teachers in ICT-based Central Java. Results of data analysis showed that the competence of elementary school teachers in Central Java which was certified four indicators covering most of the poor category. Four indicators covering ICT competence and the internet (32.64%), competence scientific papers and seminars (67.5%), competence PTK (45.84%) and competence PBM (85%). in the category of not good. Response to the results of the model formulation is made apparent that the local Department of Education LPMP and ICT training have a lot to give, but all teachers have the desire and commitment to the importance of teachers with good mastery of competencies in supporting teacher professionalism. Therefore the relevant parties in the development of teacher professionalism, LPMP, Ministry of Education and local school authorities should be able to develop improved competency models offered in this study that can be done in cooperation with the local LPTK.

Bamboo is an alternate material for wood In the structure of building, because bamboo has more easy found and cheap, if it followed with the processing technology of bamboo as an effort to improve preservation and strong. Preservation method with boraks is the other way characteristic of bamboo developing to improve quality of bamboo. The research purpose is to know comparative result mechanics strength of bamboo (compressions, tensile, and flexure strengths), due to its preservation method with the boraks. Two species of bamboo are used in this research, they are Ori and Wulung. Analysis result shown there are different mechanics strength of bamboo between preserve and not preserve. Mechanics strength of bamboo preservation have more strength. Therefore, usage bamboo in building materials, first rate of the construction, will need maximally processing with preservation of boraks.Bambu sebagai bahan alternatif pengganti kayu dalam bahan bangunan gedung perlu dipertimbangkan, karena bambu mempunyai kelebihan mudah didapatkan dan murah, apabila disertai dengan teknologi pengolahan bambu akan mampu meningkatkan keawetan dan kekuatan bambu. Metode pengawetan dengan menggunakan boraks merupakan salah satu upaya perbaikan sifat-sifat bambu yang ditujukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas bambu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kekuatan mekanik bambu (tekan, tarik dan lentur) akibat adanya metode pengawetan dengan menggunakan boraks. Jenis bambu yang digunakan adalah bambu Ori dan Wulung, yang sering dipakai untuk keperluan bahan bangunan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan kekuatan mekanik bambu dengan dan tanpa pengawet. Kekuatan mekanik bambu yang diawetkan dengan boraks mempunyai kekuatan lebih tinggi. Oleh karena itu, pengggunaan bambu untuk bahan bangunan terutama dalam penggunaan sebagai konstruksi perlu adanya penanganan bambu secara maksimal dengan pengawet boraks.Â

Widening system of timber connecting can be made in various methods. Nowadays, the gluing method is more useful. Connection by the gluing method is more quick and easy to do, it takes time shorter. This study aims to determine the strength of the glue (Cyanocrylate and epoxy) on the connection method in terms of shear strength. Results of analysis showed that the epoxy glue to hold the sliding force of 173.090 kg/cm2 and hold Cyanocrylate glue shear force of 169.902 kg/cm2. Based on the test of the mean difference analysis of the results obtained by a sliding strength has no significant difference between Cyanocrylate glue and epoxy glue. In other hand, based on the length of workmanship, the use of glue cyanocrylate more effective than the use of epoxy glue. Therefore Cyanocrylate glue can be used as a substitute for epoxy glue to consider the efficiency of time, but need precision in the process because of the nature of easy Cyanocrylate glue dry and brittle.Penyambungan kayu ke arah melebar dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai metode. Metode yang pada saat ini banyak dipakai adalah metode perekatan dengan lem. Metode penyambungan dengan lem relatif lebih cepat dan mudah dikerjakan sehingga waktu yang diperlukan lebih singkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kekuatan lem (Cyanocrylate dan Epoksi) pada metode sambungan ditinjau dari kuat geser. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa lem Epoksi kuat menahan gaya geser sebesar 173,090 Kg/cm2 dan lem Cyanocrylate kuat menahan gaya geser sebesar 169,902 Kg/cm2. Berdasarkan uji analisis perbedaan mean dari kuat gesernya diperoleh hasil tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara lem Cyanocrylate dan lem Epoksi. Sementara itu berdasarkan lamanya pengerjaan, penggunaan lem cyanocrylate lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan penggunaan lem epoksi. Hasil persilangan antartanaman berdasarkan tipe seks menghasilkan segregasi dengan proporsi yang berbeda-beda. Teknik identifikasi seks sejak fase benih sangat dibutuhkan dalam upaya mempercepat siklus generasi dan efisiensi ruang uji dalam uji persilangan. Penelitian ini merupakan tahap awal untuk mengidentifikasi bibit sejak dini yaitu dengan memperlakukan biji dalam larutan auksin dan ABA.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh data daya pertumbuhan bibit pepaya yang diperlakukan dengan indole butyric acid (IBA) dan absicic acid (ABA). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sumatera Barat mulai bulan Agustus 1999 sampai dengan Maret 2000. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok sebanyak tiga ulangan yang disusun secara faktorial. Untuk mendapatkan teknik identifikasi tersebut dapat didekati dengan mendiskripsikan benih semaian sampai dengan tanaman di polibag. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan IBA dan ABA berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan daun dan tinggi tanaman. IBA dan ABA tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang. Pada awal pertumbuhan, diameter batang dipengaruhi oleh tempat. Pengaruh IBA dan ABA nyata pada perkecambahan biji terutama untuk dampit, lokal kuning dan lokal jingga. Kata kunci : Carica papaya; Biji pepaya; IBA; ABA ABSTRACT. This experiment has been done at Solok Re- search Institute for Fruit Crops. Outpolynation the plant according to sex type produced highly segregation. The pro- portion of segregate was not the same. Identity of variety is the main key in papaya crossing. Sex identification technique at seedling was demanded. This technique can be used to accelarate regeneration cycle and efficiency on testing the new clones. The aims of this experiment was to find out the seed germination and seedling growth. The re- search was conducted at West Sumatera from August 1999 until March 2000. The experiment was using a Random- ized Block Design with three replication. The technique can be worked out by morphology description from seedling up to the plant that was grown in a polybag. The results indicated that ABA and IBA was significant by affect the leaf growth and hight of stem. There was no significantly different on stem diameters. At early growth polybag sizes was significantly affect the stem diameter. IBA and ABA was affected to the germination of papaya seed variety, dampit, local kuning and local jingga.

The formulation of the problem in this research is how to identify their communication, the selection of communication media, the role of communication and assessment purposes komunitor role in communication for PR communications strategy Bengkalis district administration in disseminating election outright in 2015.This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach as a tool of analysis. This research was conducted at the Government Public Relations Office, Bengkalis District, which is the executing agency where elections simultaneously in 2015. The sample in this research that Government Relations and Community Leaders Bengkalis Bengkalis which amounted to 7 people. Data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation.The results of the study are from the introduction of targeted communication is known that prior to socialize elections simultaneously in Bengkalis then conducted the meeting in order to plan socialization which will be held as well as the objects that will be addressed, from the selection of media communication is done by making flyers or pamphlets about the elections simultaneously, from assessment purpose communication message known to the parties involved in the implementation of the socialization of the elections in Bengkalis should focus primarily on delivering the objectives of socialization and of the role of communicators in communication can be seen from the positive impact resulting in socialization election simultaneously in Bengkalis which all parties concerned can carry out their duties in accordance with the functions that have been set before socialization.

Wood Sengon (Sengon) is a type of timber that can quickly grow, accessible but its use as a construction material has not been optimized. The technology used to support the wood as a construction material is a laminate. Engineering experiments was done by making laminated beams of wood Sengon and wood coconut. The purpose of this study is to determine how much the increase in flexural strength for laminated wood Sengon beams and wood Coconut beams as a replacement of structural beam with a variety of adhesive and timber placement. The method used is an experimental method for flexural strength testing of laminated beams. The results showed an average flexural strength of the maximum obtained in laminated beams with variations EP-S (adhesive epoxy glue and placement position in the wood Sengon) amounted to 679 350 kg / cm2. An increase in the strength of 254 025 kg / cm2 (59.72%) are from wood Sengon bending strength 425 325 kg / cm2 (probe grade IV) to 679 350 kg / cm2 (strong class III). The use of technology should pay attention to the position of the bearing laminated wood. Wood with strong higher class should be put on the outside position to provide reinforcement for the wood with a powerful low grade placed in the position. Kayu Sengon (Sengon) termasuk dalam jenis kayu yang dapat dengan cepat tumbuh, mudah di dapat tetapi penggunaannya sebagai bahan konstruksi belum optimal. Teknologi yang digunakan guna mendukung kayu sebagai bahan konstruksi adalah dengan laminasi. Rekayasa eksperimen dilakukan dengan membuat balok laminasi dari kayu Sengon dan kayu Kelapa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar peningkatan kuat lentur balok kayu dengan laminasi Sengon dan Kelapa sebagai pengganti balok struktur dengan variasi bahan perekat dan perletakan kayu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen untuk pengujian kuat lentur balok laminasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kuat lentur rata-rata maksimum diperoleh pada balok laminasi dengan variasi EP-S (perekat lem epoksi dan perletakan posisi kayu Sengon didalam) sebesar 679.350 kg/cm2. Terjadi peningkatan kekuatan sebesar 254.025 kg/cm2 (59.72%) yaitu dari kuat lentur kayu Sengon 425.325 kg/cm2 (kelas kuar IV) menjadi 679.350 kg/cm2(kelas kuat III). Penggunaan teknologi laminasi hendaknya memperhatikan posisi perletakan kayu. Kayu dengan klas kuat lebih tinggi diletakkan pada posisi luar untuk memberikan perkuatan pada kayu dengan kelas kuat rendah yang terletak pada posisi dalam.Â

The limited size of the structural wood more expensive and difficult to obtain. Therefore there needs to be an effort timber processing technology that is able to overcome these problems. Wood Sengon, including the type of wood that can quickly grow, easy on the can but its use as a construction material has not been used to support optimal.Teknologi wood as a construction material is a laminate. Laminate (glulam) is a combination of one or more kinds of materials in which the material is made into a layer of relatively thin-layer bonded to one another to form a larger dimension. Engineering experiments done by creating beams of laminated wood and rosewood Sengon. The purpose of this study is to determine how much the increase bending strength of laminated wood beams in lieu of retrofitting sengon wood beam structure, and the target of this research to determine the flexural strength of laminated wood beams in weak side reinforcement beams, as well academically may provide insight into the development of science and technology, particularly in the use of the system as a laminated wood beams residential buildings are simple, and the results of this study are expected to wood laminate system can be an alternative in meeting the needs of the beam structure. The method used is an experimental method that is carried out by conducting research in the Laboratory of Wood Materials and Engineering Laboratory Work Faculty of Civil Engineering, State University of Semarang. This type of research is conducted in this study flexural strength testing of laminated wood.Keterbatasan ukuran kayu struktural semakin mahal dan sulit untuk diperoleh. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya suatu upaya teknologi pengolahan kayu yang mampu mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Kayu Sengon termasuk dalam jenis kayu yang dapat dengan cepat tumbuh, mudah di dapat tetapi penggunaannya sebagai bahan konstruksi belum optimal.Teknologi yang digunakan guna mendukung kayu sebagai bahan konstruksi adalah dengan laminasi. Laminasi (glulam) adalah gabungan dari satu macam bahan ataupun lebih dimana bahan tersebut dibuat menjadi lapisan-lapisan yang relatif tipis yang direkatkan satu sama lain sehingga membentuk dimensi yang lebih besar. Rekayasa eksperimen dilakukan dengan membuat balok laminasi dari kayu Sengon dan kayu Jati. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar peningkatan kuat lentur balok kayu laminasi dalam perkuatan kayu sengon sebagai pengganti balok struktur, dan target penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kuat lentur balok kayu laminasi dalam perkuatan sisi lemah balok, serta secara akademis dapat memberikan wawasan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi khususnya dalam pemanfaatan sistem kayu laminasi sebagai balok bangunan rumah tinggal sederhana, dan dari hasil penelitian ini diharapkan sistem laminasi kayu dapat menjadi alternatif dalam memenuhi kebutuhan balok struktur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen yang dilakukan dengan mengadakan penelitian di Laboratorium Bahan dan Laboratorium Kerja Kayu Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengujian kuat lentur kayu laminasi.
