Abstract

The effects of bitumen types in a hydro-conversion catalytic process to producesyntethic liquid fuels was investigated. Three samples of natural solid bitumenobtained from three different sampling points in Riau Province are used in thisstudy. Preliminary technical feasibility of the natural solid bitumen as a feedstockof synthetic fuel oil using this process is also investigated. Experimental runs arecarried out using a 1 liter stirred batch autoclave reactor under the standardconditions: reaction temperature of 450oC, initial hydrogen pressure of 12 MPafor 1 hour and atomic ratio of sulfur to iron at 2.0. This process condition issimilar to direct coal liquefaction process using heavy oil solvent produced fromBench Scale Unit (BSU) 100 kg/hour input in Takasago, Japan. The resultsindicate that the oil yield increases with the decrease of liquid bottom yield. TotalCO+CO2 and hydrocarbon gases products are almost equal at all bitumensamples. Due to their high ash content, the oil yield (LO, MO and HO) of bitumensamples relatively lower than the oil yield of coal liquefaction process. It was alsofound that O/C and H/C atomic ratio in bitumen samples vary significantly withtheir sampling point, but the H/C ratio of bitumen relatively higher than typicalcoal. The higher of H/C ratio, the easier of bitumen to be converted to syntheticfuel oil and leading to the more efficiently use of gaseous hydrogen. Inconclusion, the natural solid bitumen has a possibility as a feedstock of syntheticfuel oil, if it is fed to the process in the form of a dried-ash-free-bitumen (hyperbitumen).Kata kunci: bitumen, hidrokonversi katalitik, BBM sintetis

Abstract

Terapan algoritma penginderaan jauh dalam investigasi ekosistem merupakan kombinasi analisis spasial yang mampu mengidetifikasikan venomen spasial ekosistem, dengan tujuan mengindetifikasikan zona ekosistem, dinamika ekosistem daratan berupa hutan tropsi dan jenis ekosistem lainnya, dengan studi kasusus Kota DAS Tarusan Kota Padang. Model analisis yang diterapkan berdasarkan algoritma klasifikasi citra maximum likelihood, indeks vegetasi (Enchnace Vegetation Index) dan LAI (Leaf area index). Hasil peneliian ini terjadinya penurunan luas area ekosistem hutan pada zona transisi yang merupakan perbatasan ekosistem hutan dan kawasan budidaya yang dikelola oleh manusia. Hasil analisis klasifikasi citra diperoleh perbedaat distribusi ekosistem alami hutan tropis dikawasan DAS dan berkembangnya ekosistem yang sudah dicampuri manusia berupa perkebunan campuran. Analisis lanjut dari indeks vegetasi EVI dan LAI memproporsikan kenampakan zona hidup dari kondisi vegetasi hidup secara implisit dengan kenampakan pada citra tunggal gray scalemampu mendiskriminasikan objek non ekosistem alami berupa fitur buatan manusia dan lahan terbuka.Kata kunci: Investigasi ekologi, Leaf Area Indek

Abstract

The micro climatic in environment of urban has happen as phenomenon urban heat island, some factor be the reasons involved at phenomenon. Remote sensing technology thermal channel, that very use full to investigate process urban heat island across the urban development.  Propose of the research (1) Identify the development built up in city and relationships, vegetation and land surface temperature; (2) relationship of urban development, vegetation to urban heat island. Based raster micro structure cells it’s combination remote sensing data and GIS to understanding correlation one each other, in the statistical analyst of urban development, vegetation density, to land surface temperature. In the urban area with the high value in urban index have positive correlation with temperature changes, and low value vegetation index negative correlation with urban temperature, and population. The vegetation as natural ecology area can to holding on the temperature changes. It can do mention the phenomenon urban heat island across the urban phenomenon have relation very strong to micro climatic change.

Abstract

The mangrove such forest very important at coastal ecosystem and environment. The purpose of the research to mapping mangrove distribution at the coast environment using multi vegetation index, comparison accuracy assessment to mapping mangrove area. The method of the research use by multi imagery transformation as NDVI, Infrared II, SAVI, EVI and Maximum Likelihood. Data on the research have using by Landsat OLI8, tools use by ENVI 5.0 and ArcGIS 10.1. Optimizing the used of data from Landsat satellite imagery for mapping mangrove found where sharper appearance mangrove area in the gray scale image of the results of the analysis of vegetation transformation NDVI, Infrared II, SAVI and EVI showing difference specification, but also found has founded difference objects of interpreted it was showing like shadows of cloud be the another object. To classification on mangrove object is seen from the results of density slicing of transformation value to classing vegetation. The percentage accuracy of image prove some dominant image transformation is able to indicate a more optimal mangrove and mangrove separating the object is not present, but the accuracy of the data analysis result has variations, refers to the number of samples used

Abstract

The higher demands of fossil energy usage are currently imbalance to its reserves. This issue will give a potency of fossil fuel scarcity that contributes on rising of its cost and disturbing economic stabilization in the future. It is desirable to find another resource which is sustainable and renewable to reduce the dependency on this resource. This study aimed to utilize the oil from instant coffee waste as biodiesel feedstocks. The coffee oil was extracted from instant-coffee waste by Soxhlet extractor and characterized its physical and chemical properties. The solvent extraction through the solid bed of coffee ground performed by five cycles interval using n-hexane as a solvent. Separation processing oil from its hydrocarbon solvent was in a rotary vacuum evaporator and the oil extract collected for further purposes. There was about 17.6% (on a dry weight basis) of coffee oil gained on 20 cycles of extraction. Analysis regarding its physicochemical properties reported that the crude oil has 0.89 g/mL of density, 43.82 mm2/s of kinematic viscosity, 44.47 mg KOH/g of acid value, and 176.40 mg KOH/g of saponification value. The fatty acids composition of the oil provided by GC-MS analyzer showed that unsaturated fatty acids contained, observed as trans-fatty acids rather than cis-fatty acids.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of consumer motivation, perceived quality, consumer attitudes and brand image on purchasing decisions with buying interest as an intervening variable. The study was conducted on prospective customers from Datsun car products in Semarang City. The number of samples used in this study were 150 respondents. The method of data collection is done through a questionnaire. This study uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis techniques using the AMOS 22.0 analysis tool. The model of this study has fulfilled the rules of Goodness of fit, including: Chi square (125,125), probability (0,124), RMSEA (0,33), CMIN / DF (1,159), TLI (0,979) and CFI (0,984).            The results of this study indicate that consumer motivation has a positive and significant effect on buying interest, perceived quality has a positive and significant effect on buying interest, consumer attitudes negatively affect buying interest, brand image has a positive and significant effect on buying interest, and buying interest has a positive and significant influence towards purchasing decisions.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted to determine the status of Lake Toba water quality in the area of Toba Samosir (Tobasa) Regency and the feasibility of its use. This study revealed that BOD, COD, iron and free Cl2 of Lake Toba Tobasa regency exceed water quality criteria for Class I and Class II based on Governor Decree No. 1 Year 2009 on Raw water quality of Lake Toba in North Sumatera. High COD and BOD values imply that Lake Toba water was polluted by organic matter presumably originated from floating net cages (KJA), while free Cl2 is thought to originate from domestic waste activities in Parapat City and its surroundings. In general, it was concluded that the water of Lake Toba in the Tobasa Regency did not meet the criteria for clean water and water tourism.Keywords: Lake Toba, raw water, pollution, water qualityABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kualitas air Danau Toba wilayah Kabupaten Toba Samosir (Tobasa) dan kelayakan peruntukannya. Abstract

Struktur komunitas mikroba memiliki peran yang penting dalam pemantauan kualitas lingkungan.Strategi pengembangan metode analitis yang handal untuk mengkarakterisasi struktur komunitasmikroba masih merupakan sebuah tantangan.Analisis profil respirasi kuinon (RK) merupakan salahsatu metode identifikasi mikroba tanpa kulturisasi yang telah luas digunakan untuk mengkarakterisasistruktur komunitas mikroba. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengaplikasikan teknologi ekstraksi fluidasuperkritis (EFS) sebagai sebuah teknologi hijau untuk determinasi struktur komunitas mikrobakuinondalam lumpur IPAL. Statistik desain percobaan digunakan dalam studi ini untuk mengoptimasikondisi EFS, dan mengeksplorasi hubungan antara beberapa peubah dan satu atau lebih peubahrespon. Kromatografi cairan ultra performansi (KCUP) dilengkapi detektor foto diode arraydigunakan untuk determinasi secara simultan ubikuinon (UK) dan menakuinon (MK).Ekstraksisuperkritis berfluida CO2 dengan perangkap kartridge fase padat terbukti lebih efektif dan cepatuntuk mengekstraksi RK dibandingkan metode konvensional dengan pelarut organik.Keberhasilanprosedur analitis dari metode ini dibuktikan dengan adanya pengurangan signifikan dari kompleksitasprosedur yang gunakan dan penurunan waktu preparasi sampel.Hasil optimalisasi metode EFS inijuga diuji sensitifitas nya dalam mengkarakterisasi komunitas mikroba berbasis profil kuinon padaberbagai sampel seperti tanah, air kolam, sedimen sungai, lumpur digesi anaerob. Metode ini dapatmenjadi metode rutin dalam pemantauan struktur komunitas mikroba di lingkungan

Abstract

ABSTRACTHigh population growth rate has stimulated the increase of energy consumption. Therefore, the use of renewable energy sources such as methane gas from landfill has also been encouraged. It is necessary that landfill methane gas is purified to increase its concentration. Common method to purify methane gas is water scrubber method. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of landfill methane gas purification using a spray water scrubber (water scrubber method), a water column scrubber (bubbling methods) and the combination of both methods to increase the content of landfill methane. The experiment was conducted in the dry season and rainy season. Results of the study concluded that water scrubber was the most effective method for increasing methane gas concentration. The average increase of methane gas in the dry season were 33.32% (water scrubber) and 23.79% (combination of bubbling and water scrubber), and in the rainy season 8.89% (water bubbling) and 2.75% (combination of water scrubber and water bubbling). The increase in methane gas was due to a decrease in CO2 gas. In addition, there was an increase of H2O content in biogas from landfill after the purification process.Keywords: Landfill, methane gas, purification, water scrubberABSTRAKTingginya laju pertumbuhan penduduk telah memacu konsumsi energi yang terus meningkat. Oleh karena itu diperlukan upaya pemanfaatan sumber energi terbarukan, yang salah satunya adalah gas metana yang berasal dari TPA sampah. Keinginan untuk meningkatkan kandungan gas metana TPA diperlukan upaya purifikasi, menggunakan metode water scrubber. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui efektivitas purifikasi gas metana TPA dengan menggunakan metode pengaliran gas dalam percikan air (water scrubber) dan metode pengaliran gas dalam air atau water bubbling (serta kombinasi keduanya) untuk meningkatkan kandungan gas metana TPA, yang dilakukan pada musim kemarau dan musim penghujan. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa water scrubber merupakan metoda yang paling efektif untuk meningkatkan kandungan gas metana. Rata-rata peningkatan gas metana pada musim kemarau dan musim penghujan, berturut-turut sebesar 33,32% (water scrubber), 23,79 (kombinasi water bubbling dan water scrubber), 8,89% (water bubbling) dan 2,75% (kombinasi water scrubber dan water bubbling). Peningkatan gas metana tersebut terjadi karena adanya penurunan gas CO2. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan kandungan H2O pada biogas dari TPA setelah proses purifikasi.Kata kunci: TPA, gas metana, purifikasi, water scrubber.

Abstract

Penggunaan probiotik untuk meningkatkan kualitas budidaya udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) telah banyak diterapkan pada tambak udang untuk membantu meningkatkan produktivitas tambak. Salah satu kelemahan probiotik adalah proses yang panjang dan tidak terukur dengan baik, karena mikroorganisme probiotik sangat sensitif terhadap perubahan lingkungan dan bagaimana perlakuan selama aplikasi berlangsung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi alternatif untuk pengembangan aditif kelautan dalam kegiatan budidaya udang. Studi penggunaan dilakukan pada skala proyek percontohan dengan menggunakan 2 plastik beton bertulang berukuran 8m x 4m x 1m dengan volume 40m2. Untuk membandingkan perlakuan antara metode konvensional (Pond A sebagai kontrol) dan chelated agent (Pond B). Dalam perawatan menggunakan agen chelated, kolam dioperasikan tanpa proses sterilisasi. Konsentrasi Chelate yang digunakan adalah 300 ppm. Parameter kualitas air yang telah dipantau adalah suhu, salinitas, nitrit, nitrat, TOM, dan DO. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tanpa melalui proses operasi yang rumit, penambahan aditif kelautan chelate meningkatkan pertumbuhan udang vaname dibandingkan dengan yang konvensional. Kisaran kualitas air masih dalam kisaran yang wajar untuk kehidupan udang vaname.
