Abstract

Restorative justice is an alternative approach in the criminal justice system that focuses on recovering losses due to criminal acts, including corruption. This approach emphasizes the involvement of perpetrators, victims, and the community in finding fair solutions and prioritizing recovery for the impacts caused. This study discusses the role of restorative justice in dealing with corruption crimes by analyzing its effectiveness, challenges, and application in the legal system in Indonesia. With a juridical-normative method and a qualitative approach, this study finds that restorative justice can be an instrument that complements the retributive approach, especially in the recovery of state assets and the prevention of repeated corruption. However, its implementation faces obstacles in the form of regulations that are not comprehensive and resistance in the application of restorative justice for corrupt actors. This study emphasizes the importance of policies that support the application of restorative justice in corruption cases to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement and provide broader benefits to society and the state.

Abstract

The Petung River supports domestic, agricultural, and economic activities in Pasuruan City but is subject to increasing anthropogenic pressures. This study aims to assess the river water quality status and formulate water pollution control strategies. Water quality was evaluated using the Pollution Index based on laboratory measurements conducted in April and June 2025. A SWOT analysis was performed by identifying internal and external factors through field observations and key informant interviews, followed by weighting and ranking to determine strategic priorities. The results indicate that the Petung River is predominantly classified as lightly polluted, with Pollution Index values ranging from 2.48 to 5.06, while one monitoring point in June 2025 reached a moderate pollution status. Although pH (6.75–7.80) and nitrate (1.15–3.40 mg/L) complied with Class II standards, total suspended solids, biological oxygen demand (6.49–16.01 mg/L), chemical oxygen demand, and total phosphate (0.27–3.03 mg/L) exceeded regulatory thresholds. The priority strategy is the establishment of communal wastewater treatment systems, supported by improved coordination, institutional capacity, community-based programs, and strengthened monitoring.

Abstract

Halophilic microorganisms include extremophiles that can live and develop in a hypersaline environment. Biofilm, as microecology, consists of a collection of microorganisms attached to a surface, forming an Extracellular Polymeric Substance (EPS) matrix. This study aims to analyze the protein profile and functional groups of biofilms that grow in hypersaline environments. The method used in this study is the SDS PAGE test to diagnose protein profiling and FTIR to analyze biofilm functional groups. The samples used to grow the biofilm came from salt ponds with different NaCl levels, namely 2%, 25%, and 40%. The results showed that each NaCl treatment had different functional groups in the biofilm samples. In the 2% NaCl treatment, there were peaks with solid intensity at the wavenumber 1100 cm-1, indicating the carboxylic acid functional group. In the 25% NaCl treatment, peaks with solid intensity at wavenumber 2250 cm-1 indicate the isocyanate functional group. In the 40% NaCl treatment, there were peaks with solid intensity at wavenumber 860 cm-1, indicating the alkene functional group. The protein analysis for each treatment shows the presence of pyruvate kinase protein in the biofilm with 2% NaCl. The 25% NaCl biofilm sample contained avidin protein, and the 40% NaCl biofilm sample contained tyrosine protein.

Abstract

Brantas River is habitat to a fish species known as the bader fish (Barbonymus altus). Research aims to evaluate the hematological profile of the bader fish as a means to assess the quality of the Brantas River in the Blitar region. Determining the waste flow from community activities that influences blood quality of bader fish is another goal of this research. To achieve this, various water quality indices were measured in the river and hematological parameters measured in the fish. Data collection was conducted once every week for three weeks during 17 January to 17 March 2022. The measurements aimed to observe any changes in the fish's hematological profile over this period. Two data analysis techniques were employed for the research: Pollution Index (IP) and Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA). IP measurements reveal that all three stations share a common assessment, classifying them as having light pollution. When analyzing correlation measurements through CCA, it was found that erythrocytes exhibited a robust positive correlation with a pH value of 0.549, while conversely, DO (Dissolved Oxygen) showed a strong negative correlation with leukocytes with value -0.717. In summary, the water conditions in the Brantas region remain conducive for the habitat of bader fish.
