Abstract

Of the many writings skills learning, theoretically the most important role in growing and developing the potential of each individual student in an effort to express ideas and concepts in good and correct Indonesian is writing a speech text. So, the right learning model is needed. Thus, there is a purpose of this study, namely, to prove the level of effectiveness of learning to write a speech text using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition model and the Think Talk Write model based on the reading comprehension skills of grade VIII junior high school students. In this study, quantitative research was applied in the form of quasi-experimental design research with the Non-equivalent Pretest-postest Design model. The results of this study state that the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition model is more effective to be applied than the Think Talk Write model in learning persuasive speech text writing skills. This can be proven from the results of the Independent Sample T-Test which states a sig value of 0.042. So, it can be interpreted that sig 0.042 <0.05 or a significance value of 0.042 is less than 0.05. So, in accordance with the research basis which states that the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition model has a very big influence on students' reading ability which will then have a significant impact on writing skills, in this case the skill of writing speech texts. Meanwhile, the Think Talk Write model does not have a significant influence on students' writing ability because it does not pay attention to students' reading ability levels. The suggestions addressed in this study to teachers, schools, and further research.

Abstract

Literary works are a depiction of human life through the outpouring of expression and thought. The ideology of heroism is one ideology that can be found in every Indonesian novel. However, there is a phenomenon of the interpretation of the ideology of heroism by teachers that is still confusing. Based on this problem, teachers are needed to be open in interpreting the ideology of heroism. The right solution is through the reception of the ideology of heroism in the novel Orang Miskin Dilarang Sekolah (Poor People Are Forbidden to Go to School). The approach of this research is the sociology of literature by adopting the research design of Moser (1989:1799-1825). The results of the reception of the ideology of heroism of SMK teachers in Tegal Regency towards the novel Orang Miskin Dilarang Sekolah by Eko Prasetyo based on gender classification show several differences. According to male teachers, heroism is interpreted in the form of love for the country, upholding unity, expertise in using knowledge as a weapon, and loyalty to principles. Meanwhile, according to female teachers, heroism appears in the form of prioritizing common interests, willingness to sacrifice, and sincerity. However, both agree that heroism also involves fighting for the rights of others and having a fighting spirit.

Abstract

Language holds significant symbolic power in shaping a leader’s political image. This study examines President Prabowo Subianto’s statement on August 29, 2025, regarding the demonstrations, from the perspectives of pragmatics and rhetoric, in order to reveal how language is used to manage discourse and reinforce governmental legitimacy. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis of the official speech text. The findings show that the statement contains various linguistic issues, such as the use of authoritative diction, the presence of implicit and ambiguous meanings, and the balance between emotional and rational utterances. From a rhetorical perspective, the president employs ethos to affirm his image as a dignified and responsible leader; pathos to evoke public sympathy through expressions of condolence; and logos to demonstrate logical reasoning through promises of action and law enforcement. These strategies collectively construct a stable political discourse, yet also hold the potential for problems due to differing interpretations among the public. This study emphasizes that political communication in the context of modern governance cannot be separated from in-depth linguistic analysis, as language plays a crucial role in maintaining legitimacy and social stability. Therefore, greater pragmatic and rhetorical awareness is required in political communication so that national messages can be conveyed effectively, ethically, and contextually.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop and measure the effectiveness of early reading enrichment books that integrate humanist values, 21st-century skills, and entrepreneurial dimensions for primary school students. Based on needs analysis, the enrichment books are designed not only to improve reading skills but also to support the development of critical thinking, collaboration, empathy, and creativity. The results from the pretest and posttest show a significant improvement, with an average pretest score of 45.50 and a posttest score of 75.10, showing a difference of 29.60 points. Analysis using the paired t-test produced a t-value of -10.99 with a significance value (p-value) of 0.000, indicating that the difference in learning outcomes is statistically significant. This research is also supported by several recent literatures that highlight the importance of integrating 21st-century skills, entrepreneurial dimensions, and humanist values in learning. Although the results of this study are positive, there are some limitations, such as the limited sample size and focus solely on reading skills. Further research is recommended to expand the range of skills measured, as well as to link the use of technology, local culture, and examine the long-term effectiveness of these enrichment books.
