Abstract

Ground-dwelling arthropods play many important roles in agroecosystems. This experiment was conducted to assess the effects of botanical and synthetic insecticides on soil arthropods in edamame crops. The study included six treatments: soursop leaf extract at concentrations of 1% and 2%, diflubenzuron at concentrations of 0.05% and 0.1%, a common synthetic insecticide (chlorantraniliprole 0.15%), and a control (untreated plants), each with three replications. Pitfall traps were used to sample soil arthropods. A total of 2222 soil arthropods were collected, consisting of 1443 (64.94%) predatory arthropods and 778 (35.06%) detritivorous arthropods. The dominant orders of predators and detritivores were Araneae (61.5%) and Coleoptera (40.2%), respectively. The highest numbers of predatory and detritivorous arthropods were found on edamame plants sprayed with soursop extract, while the lowest numbers were recorded on plants treated with the common synthetic insecticide chlorantraniliprole. These results indicate that chlorantraniliprole negatively impacts the presence of ground-dwelling arthropods in edamame agroecosystems. In contrast, the application of the botanical insecticide (soursop leaf extract) and the synthetic insect growth regulator (diflubenzuron) did not reduce the abundance or diversity of ground-dwelling arthropods in edamame fields.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is an annual cereal crop that has high economic value and has the potential to be developed in Indonesia. However, corn production can be hindered due to the attack of caterpillar pests (Spodoptera frugiperda J.E Smith). The fall armyworm attacks the young leaves of corn plants which can cause the failure of leaf shoot formation. However, the attack can be controlled by using plant-based pesticides. One of the plants that can be used as a plant-based pesticide is tobacco leaves (Nicotiana tabacum L.). This study aims to determine the effect of several consentration of  tobacco leaf extract on the mortality of fall armyworm  in vitro as well as to determine LC50 from all S. frugiperda test larvae that have been treated with tobacco leaf extract. This research was carried out in January-June 2024 at the Plant Pest Science and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Lampung University. This study uses Randomized Group Design (RAK) for the basis of grouping with 6 treatments and 4 replications. Tobacco leaf extract used in this study were:   0% (control), 0,5% (T1), 1% (T2), 1,5% (T3), 2% (T4), 2,5% (T5) with 4 replications so that 24  experimental units were obtained, each experimental unit was in the form of 10 instar larvae of 3 corn caterpillars. The results of this study showed that the use of tobacco leaf extract at concentrations of 1,5%, 2%, and 2,5% caused mortality of 100% for 30 days of observation.

Abstract

This study examines family economic strategies through digital marketing implementation in home-based businesses within community-based empowerment frameworks. Using a qualitative case study approach in Ibun District, Bandung Regency, West Java, this research involved 11 home-based business operators from the Local Hero women's community, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection employed triangulated methods including in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation analysis of digital marketing activities. Findings reveal that home-based businesses have evolved from supplementary income sources to primary economic pillars for family sustainability. Digital marketing strategies demonstrate sophisticated adaptation utilizing integrated platforms (WhatsApp Business, Facebook, and Shopee) with systematic approaches including visual content optimization, strategic promotional timing, and sustained customer engagement of 2-4 interactions weekly. Family involvement transcends labor distribution, creating collaborative entrepreneurial ecosystems that reinforce social cohesion and intergenerational knowledge transfer. The Local Hero community functions as a critical enabler, providing structured learning frameworks, peer experience sharing, and digital marketing networks that strengthen family economic positioning. This research contributes to theoretical understanding of community-mediated digital transformation in family economies and offers practical frameworks for scaling technology-based economic empowerment initiatives in similar socio-economic contexts. Keywords: Digital Economy, Community Empowerment, Home-Based Enterprises, Family Economic Strategy, Digital Marketing

Abstract

This research reveals empirical practices of learning organizations in developing service innovations through a case study approach. The study examines learning organization practices implemented by the Population and Civil Registration Office of Bantul Regency, particularly in developing Identity Card (ID) and Birth Certificate services. The Bantul Population and Civil Registration Office prioritizes service convenience and speed aspects in developing ID and Birth Certificate service innovations. The development of ID service innovations at the Bantul Population Office was significantly influenced by substantial public demands for services, while Birth Certificate services did not generate such large demands from the community. The crisis (COVID-19 pandemic) that occurred from 2020 to 2022 impacted ID and Birth Certificate services, making the Population Office more intensively innovate in developing these services. After the crisis ended, innovations developed during the crisis were maintained and continued, with only the application usage aspect in ID services being further developed. The development of service innovations for both IDs and Birth Certificates in normal and crisis situations at the Bantul Population Office demonstrates the role of learning organizational practices. The organization's ability to understand each population service regulation impacts organizational flexibility in providing services, strengthening collaborative spirit both among employees and between teams/groups. Work designed for mutual learning through organizational support provides discussion spaces for employees and opportunities to gain knowledge outside the organizational environment. Improvements in ID and Birth Certificate services are also significantly influenced by employee empowerment through involvement of all employees in decision-making processes.

Abstract

Global climate change such as El Nino has serious impacts on the agricultural sector, especially soybean production which is very sensitive to water shortages. The government is responding by developing superior soybean varieties that are drought-resistant, such as Kemuning 1, Demas 1, and other varieties that have qualities equivalent to imported soybeans. A significant issue in soybean cultivation within tropical regions is the reduction in seed quality during storage, which is related to the high fat content present in orthodox seeds. Therefore, maintaining the physiological condition of the seeds until planting season requires controlling seed storage at optimal temperature and humidity levels. The results demonstrate that both cultivar and temperature affect the physiological quality of soybean seeds. The Grobogan and Dega 1 varieties produce better physiological quality compared to Deja 2, Dena 1, and Detap 1. Storing seeds at cold temperatures is more effective in maintaining seed viability and quality stability. Key words: Seed, soybean, seed storage, physiological quality

Abstract

Storage can determine the quality of green beans, therefore, to prevent the product from being attacked by warehouse pests, good storage and packaging are needed. The main pest that attacks green beans during storage is Callosobruchus chinensis L. This study aims to test the effectiveness of kaffir lime leaves and basil against Callosobruchus chinensis L. pests and weight loss of green bean seeds attacked by C. chinensis. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 4 replications, namely control, kaffir lime leaves 8 g, 10 g, and 12 g, basil leaves 8 g, 10 g, and 12 g. The data obtained were analyzed using a 5% level of ANARA and then continued with a 5% DMRT test. The results obtained after 28 HSA observations were that kaffir lime leaf powder at a dose of 12 g caused the highest C. chinensis mortality and the lowest reduced the weight loss of green beans. Basil leaf powder treatment at a dose of 12 g caused the highest C. chinensis mortality and the lowest reduction in green bean weight loss for 28 HSA. This research shows that kaffir lime leaves and basil have the potential to control C. chinensis during storage.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic's end led to rapid adaptation in the education sector with a shift to online learning for approximately 2 years. This prolonged duration resulted in a decline in education quality evident in online learning. Post-pandemic research aims to analyze the impact of leadership, work environment, and work motivation on vocational teachers in Indonesia. Regression analysis demonstrates that these factors collectively influence education quality. However, partial analysis reveals insignificant effects of leadership, while the work environment significantly impacts education quality. Motivation and teacher performance show no significant contributions to education quality. Further research recommendation includes using longitudinal analysis over an extended period to assess variable-related changes.
