Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of strength based intervention motivational interviewing group counseling to improve students? self-compassion. The study used pretest and multiple posttest design. Purposive sampling was used to select 14 experimental subjects which were grouped into two in random or in other words, 7 people for each group. For more, the data collection technique in this study used self-compassion scale-short form (SCS-SF). The results of mixed repeated measures ANOVA showed that strength based intervention motivational interviewing group counseling was effective to improve self-compassion (F (1.12) = 365.97, p < 0.05). This also could be seen in the effect of time (F (2,24) = 424.98, p < 0.05), and interaction effect between time and group (F (2,24) = 581.59, p < 0.05). These findings assert that strength based intervention motivational interviewing group counseling is effective to improve students? self-compassion.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with Cognitive Behavior Therapy to improve emotion regulation and reduce the anxiety of prisoners of Lapas Perempuan Semarang. The instrument used for this study was emotion regulation scale and anxiety scale. Meanwhile, there were 6 subjects involved in this study. In addition, the study employed pretest and multiple posttest design. The analysis results showed that there was an improvement in emotion regulation, and reduction in anxiety after the group counseling was conducted. These findings showed that group counseling with CBT approach was effective to improve emotion regulation and reduce the prisoners? anxiety. However, in the follow-up assessment, it was found that the prisoners? anxiety tended to improve again, so there was a significant difference in anxiety between pretest and follow-up. At last, the findings of this study provide initial proof that changes in anxiety level are not always in line with emotion regulation.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze classroom guidance with PBL and jigsaw techniques to improve negative attitudes towards premarital sexual behavior in students. The study used pretest-posttest control group design by involving 54 students of SMK Walisongo Semarang. For more, purposive sampling technique was employed to select 54 students as the experimental subjects who were grouped into two. Each contained 27 students. The results of wilcoxon analysis showed that the experimental group treated using PBL technique experienced improvement on the negative attitudes toward premarital sexual behavior (Z = -4.54; p < 0.05), while Jigsaw technique gained (Z = -4.54; p < 0.05). Furthermore, the kruskal wallis test results showed that the PBL technique gained (Z(18) = 14.872; p > 0.05) and the jigsaw technique gained (Z(18) = 14.872; p > 0.05). These findings provide understanding for counselors that conducting classroom guidance with PBL and jigsaw techniques can improve negative attitudes toward premarital sexual behavior in students.

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying and analyzing the relationship between career decision ambiguity tolerance and career decision-making difficulties by using self-efficacy as the mediator. The population involved in this study was Public Senior High School (SMA Negeri) students throughout Semarang City with the sample of 329 students selected using Cluster Random Sampling. Their data were collected using career decision-making difficulties scale, career decision ambiguity tolerance scale, and career self-efficacy scale. The results of direct relationship analysis showed that the ambiguity tolerance had a positive and significant relationship with career self-efficacy, and career self-efficacy had a negative and significant relationship with career decision-making difficulties. For more, the results of mediation analysis showed that there was an indirect effect between ambiguity tolerance in career decisions and the difficulties in career decision-making mediated by career self-efficacy. The implications of these findings are discussed in the discussion.

Abstract

Due to ground-shaking during an earthquake, a cyclic shear stress will be imposed to the soil element. Shear modulus of soil is one of the soil parameters that should be recognized to transmite the vibration. Based on the laboratory tests, the value of shear modulus of soil (Gmax) is calculated using the formula developed by Hardin & Drnevich (1972) and Menard (1965). The research shows that sandy clay Salaman has Gmax = 6,942 Mpa (Hardin & Drnevich,1972) and 15,95 Mpa (Menard,1965), for silty clay Mertoyudan, Gmaks= 5,461 Mpa (Hardin & Drnevich,1972) and 14,83 Mpa (Menard,1965), for clay sand Krasak, Gmaks=12,942 Mpa (Hardin & Drnevich, 1972)  and 28,09 Mpa (Menard, 1965). Keywords: Shear modulus, Soil, Earthquake, Stress, Strain, Laboratory test.

This study aimed at identifying and analyzing the trisula motivation model-based classroom guidance to improve students? self-directed learning. It used pretest and multiple posttest design. In details, purposive sampling technique was used to divide 124 experimental subjects into two groups randomly with each group containing 62 students. Meanwhile, the researchers used self-rating scale of self-directed learning (SRSSDL) to collect the data. The results of repeated measures ANOVA of the experimental group after receiving the intervention showed that the trisula motivation model-based classroom guidance was effective to improve students? self-directed learning (F (1.92) = 4.29; p <0.05), while the control group that did not get the intervention gained ( F (1.81) = 0.06; p> 0.05). This study confirmed that the trisula motivation model-based classroom guidance is effective to improve students? self-directed learning.
