The aim to do this research is to investigate fifth grade students of Primary School to solveTIMSS problem in Pekanbaru. Lack of information about fifth grade students’ abilities inIndonesia to solve TIMSS problems is the reason to do this research. The method used in thisresearch was the mixed methods approach. The data were collected from 134 fifth gradestudents from Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) partnership Primary School inPekanbaru. Twenty TIMSS problems were tested to those students, and the result showed thatthe fifth grade students of Primary School in Pekanbaru still achieved low category. They gotdifficulties in solving TIMSS problems especially on data display and reasoning in cognitiveaspect. Meanwhile, there was not significantly different between boys and girls in solvingTIMSS problems.Key words: TIMSS problems, Mixed Methods Approach, Data Display, Reasoning, andCognitive Aspect.

Artikel ini mengulas tentang persepsi orang tua terhadap karakter kerja keras siswa selama belajar di rumah kelas V SDN 147 Pekanbaru. Penelitian yang dipaparkan pada penelitian ini dilakukan di SDN 147 Pekanbaru yang beralamat di Jalan Anggrek 2 Garuda Sakti Km. 2 Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau pada semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2021/2022. Penelitian tersebut merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi yang diambil dari penelitian ini adalah orang tua siswa kelas V di SDN 147 Pekanbaru yang terdiri dari empat kelas dengan total seluruh 88 orang siswa. Teknik penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh jadi jumlah sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian tersebut yaitu 88 orang tua siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan melalui uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) persepsi orang tua terhadap kerja keras siswa selama belajar di rumah dari jenis pekerjaan pada indikator menyelesaikan tugas dengan baik dan tepat waktu, persentase capaian yang mendapatkan kategori sangat bekerja keras sebagai guru sebanyak 88,99% sedangkan persentase capaian wiraswasta dan ibu rumah tangga mendapatkan kategori bekerja keras sebesar 80.23% dan 79.47%. 2) Persepsi orang tua pada indikator tidak mudah menyerah dalam menyelesaikan tugas, persentase capaian yang mendapatkan kategori sangat bekerja keras sebagai wiraswasta sebesar 83.49% dan guru sebesar 86.01% sedangkan ibu rumah tangga sebesar 80.82%. Dan 3) persepsi keseluruhan orang tua terhadap kerja keras siswa selama belajar di rumah di kelas V pada kedua indikator mendapatkan kategori sangat baik atau sangat bekerja keras.

The purpose of this study is to analyze student teachers at Primary School Teacher Education of RiauUniversity in understanding the concepts of measurement perimeter and area. The reason in doingthis research is that many student teachers usually use formal formula in solving measurementperimeter and area. They will do the same thing when they teach Primary School Students, so thestudents will not know how the formula works. Design research was chosen as a method in gettingdata. The data were collected from 48 student teachers at Primary School Teacher Education of RiauUniversity. The result showed that six out of ten group of student teachers did not use partitioning inthe beginning of the lesson. They also made a mistake in measuring the perimeter of unstructuredshapes. After classroom discussion, 96% student teachers came to the idea of partitioning. It meansthat they realized the important of partitioning in measure the area of unstructured shapes.Key words: measurement perimeter and area, design research, partitioning, and unstructured shape.

This study aims to investigate pre-service elementary teachersâ€™ knowledge on representing fraction operations by rectangle models. The subjects of this study are 64 pre-service elementary teachers from elementary school techer training study program, faculty of teacher training and education, University of Riau. The research method used is quantitative descriptive by giving a test related to the representations of fraction operations by rectangle models. The result shows that 82,81% pre-service elementary teachers were success representing addition of fractions, and 67,19% of them for subtraction of fractions. Meanwhile, 44,53% pre-service elementary teachers were success representing multiplication of fractions and 24,22% of them for divison of fractions. Then, they were still get difficulty in representing multiplication and division of fractions using rectangle models than addition and subtraction of fractions.

This study aims to analyse the gender issue presented in pre-service elementary teacher-designed mathematics picture books (BBM). Thirteen BBMs are analysed based on male and female characters presented in the titles, pictures in the cover, main characters, and a number of pictures, conversations, and words in book contents. The findings show that the male characters are presented 1.79 times more often than the female characters. The numbers of pictures, conversations, and words in the book contents for males is 1.79; 1.99; and 1.79 consecutively times more often than the female characters. Meanwhile, each of the two BBMs presents only male or female characters. The implications of this study indicate that gender is still an important issue in BBM being developed.

Prospective elementary teachers (PET) are required to have sufficient mathematical and didactic knowledge about fractions, but many of them have difficulties explaining various concepts of fractions to students. Given the importance of prospective teachersâ€™ knowledge of fractions, this study aims to investigate further the didactic knowledge of PETsâ€™ didactic knowledge of fractions. Their knowledge is seen from their ability to construct contextual tasks about fractions based on number sense, problem-solving, mathematical literacy, and problem posing. PETsâ€™ didactical knowledge is analyzed based on the anthropological theory of the didactic. This research method is qualitative with an internet-based research approach. The subjects of this study consist of 38 PsETs from a teacher education institution in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that PsETsâ€™ didactic knowledge of fractions is inappropriate, especially in the aspect of constructing contextual tasks about the division of fractions by fractions. PsETs tend to present the type of task associated with simple fraction operations and techniques in the form of standard algorithms. This study also indicates that PsETsâ€™ theoretical knowledge is still limited to informal knowledge to support standard algorithms.

Abstract: The problems of this research are a) in teaching and learning process, the teaching metode is not interesting, it focuses on one metode. b) the student’s motivation in learning science is low. c). In teaching and learning process, the students often move their chairs, so the situation in the class room is noise. d) in teaching the lesson, the teacher always stands up front of class, E) most of students are playing in teaching and learning process. The subject of this research is the grade IV SDN 019 Lenggadai Hulu that consists of 20 students. The object of this research is, the implementation of cooperative learning model make a match type in the science subject at class IV SDN 019 Lenggadai Hulu. The result of the research shows that the implementation of using cooperative learning model, make a match type in pre test are 7 students or (35 %) got high result (pass), 13 students or (65%) got low result (not pass). At the first cycle, there are 12 students (60%) having high result (pass). And 8 students (40 %) having low result (not pass). At the second cycle, there are 17 students (85 %) having high result (pass), and 3 students or (15 %) having low rresult (not pass). While, the result of research shows that the average of teaching activity at the first cycle is 77,85 % (good category), at the second cycle is 89,36% (very good category ). According to the research result, it can be concluded that using of cooperative learning model make a match type, the students can be motivated because the students active in teaching and learning process.so that, in teaching and learning science by using cooperative learning make a match type can increase science learning result at grade IV SDN 019 Lenggadai Hulu Kecamatan Rimba Melintang Kabupaten Rokan Hilir.Keywords: Cooperative Learning Model Make A Match Type, Science Learining Result

Abstract: Internal issue background in this research is that students do not really understand science lesson. This problem can be seen from the low of students’ science result with the average 67, as well as still lower the attainment of minimum completeness criteria (KKM) namely, from 20 students only 7 students or 35% reach the KKM. KKM specified by the school is 73. As for becoming target in this research is to improve the students’ learning result in study science of grade V SD Negeri 019 Lenggadai Hulu through applying cooperative learning model. For the activity of learn at first meeting equal to 58,33% raise at second meeting become 66,67% ( 8,34%), from the second meeting to first meeting of cycle II become 83,33% (16,66%), and from first meeting to second meeting become 87,5% ( 4,17%). For the students’ activity at first meeting equal to 54,17% increase to second meeting become 62,5% (8,33%), from second meeting to first meeting of cycle II become 75% (12,5%), and from first meeting to second meeting become 83,33% ( 8,33%).Students’ learning result also increase from 67 to 78 in the first cycle (raise 16,42%) and increase about 33,81% in the second meeting becoming 89,75. It is also happened by the make-up of classical complete activity from 35% at restating of cycle I reach as much 20% so that percentage become 55% and at restating of cycle II raise as much 40% so that percentage become 95%. Finally, it can be concluded that applying cooperative learning model can improve science learning result of grade V SD Negeri 019 Lenggadai Hulu.Keywords: Cooperative Learning Model, Science Learning Result, Classroom Action Research

Abstract: Based on the findings in class III SDN 008 Suak Temenggung, students’ learning results are still low in science subjects, from 22 students only 40.90% of students who scored above the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) while 59,10% of students have not reached the KKM. This research is a classroom action research, carried out by two cycles. Application of Contextual Teaching and Learning approach aims to improve the science learning result of third grade students of SDN 008 Suak Temenggung. The instrument of this research can be seen in the activity score of students and teachers who have increased activity and students’ learning results. Activity of students in the first cycle of first meeting is 56.25% with sufficient category, and then at the second meeting is 62.50% with sufficient category. Students’ activity in the second cycle the first meeting is 81.25% with the very good category, and 87.50% in the second meeting with very good category. Teachers’ activity in cycle I at the first meeting is only 50% with the category of less and 56.25% in the second meeting with sufficient category. Teacher’s activity at the first meeting of the second cycle is 75.00% with the good category, and the second meeting of the second cycle 87.50% with the very good category. Application of contextual approach can improve students’ science learning outcomes from a base score with an average 60.68, has increased the value of daily tests in the first cycle with an average of 67.72, with 72.72% classical completeness, subsequently increase even more in the cycle II with an average of 73.18, with a 100% classical completeness. From the above discussion that the application of contextual teaching and learning approach can improve science learning result of third grade students of SDN 008 Suak Temenggung Rokan Hilir.Keywords: Contextual Teaching Learning Approach, Science Learning Result

Abstract: This study was motivated by the low of IPA’s learning results of students, with an average grade of 64.5, while the value of minimum completeness criteria (KKM) Subject IPA SDN 036 Sintong Tanah Putih is 70. Of the 18 class IV SDN 036 Sintong Tanah Putih, students who completed as many as 8 peoples, while not complete as many as 10 peoples. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) is done to improve IPA’s learning outcomes Class IV SDN 036 Sintong Kecamatan Tanah Putih by applying inquiry learning method. Data collection instruments in this study is the teacher’s activities sheet, student’s activities sheets and achievement test. This study presents the results obtained from the value of learning semester prior to action by an average of 64.5 and an increase in UH I in Cycle I to 69.17. In the UH II Cycle II was increased again to 80.83. The activities of teachers in the learning process at the first cycle the first meeting is 50% and at the second meeting increase to 62.5%. At the first meeting of the second cycle of teacher’s activitie increased to 70.83% and in the second meeting of the second cycle increased to 83.33%. Similarly, analysis of student’s activities at the first meeting of the first cycle was 41.66% and increased in the second meeting of the cycle I to 58.33%. At the first meeting of the second cycle of student’s activities is 66.66% and at the second meeting of the second cycle increased to 79.16%. Results of the study in class IV SDN 036 Sintong Tanah Putih prove that the application of inquiry learning methods to improve IPA learning outcomes Class IV SDN 036 Sintong Tanah Putih.Keywords: inquiry learning model, IPA learning outcomes2
