Abstract

School is one of the centers for learning activities administered to develop students’ potential. Students can do various types of activities at school, such as: reading, writing, taking notes, asking questions, practicing, and expressing opinions. However, some schools administer the morning session and others administer the afternoon session. This study aimed to describe differences on the students’ learning activities at grade IV SD Negeri 147 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted through a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, while the techniques of data analysis were collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and finally searching for conclusions. The results of this study showed that students attending the morning session performed more positive activities, while students attending the afternoon session performed more negative activities. This research was expected to broaden the knowledge and insights of researchers in the field of education, particularly in students’ learning activities, and as a consideration for future researchers.

Abstract

This research focuses on helping students adapt to technology in the digital age. Learning media is continually evolving, and one notable example is the Kahoot application, which leverages existing technology. Kahoot is an interactive, game-based learning platform that actively engages students and encourages their participation in the learning process. To evaluate the effectiveness of Kahoot, the research was conducted with fourth-grade students using the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). A validator questionnaire was used to assess the application with feedback from 11 participants, who rated it as "good" and "very good". The researchers carefully analyzed the curriculum, instructional materials, and student needs in the process. The development of Kahoot quiz questions focused on Mathematics, specifically addressing stacked multiplication and small numbers. The trials involved six students organized into groups of two per team. Following the validity assessments and trials involving these students, it was concluded that the Kahoot application is indeed a suitable learning medium for educational purposes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using tangram media based on the Situational Didactic Theory (TDS) on students’ learning outcomes in the topic of composition and decomposition of plane figures in fourth-grade elementary school. The research employed a quasi-experimental design consisting of two groups: an experimental class that used tangram media integrated with TDS and a control class that received conventional instruction. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent sample t-test. Findings revealed that all data were normally distributed and homogeneous, meeting the assumptions for parametric analysis. The t-test result showed a significance value of 0.006, indicating a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. Students in the experimental class demonstrated higher learning gains, confirming that tangram media based on TDS effectively enhances geometric understanding. Therefore, this approach is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy for teaching mathematics in elementary schools.

Abstract

Many studies have developed learning media, but few studies focus on developing learning media in ele-mentary schools using Genially and studying teachers' perceptions of Genially learning media. This study aims to determine teachers' perceptions of hybrid learning media with a more accurate and precise method, namely the item response theory (IRT) from the Rasch model. The survey was carried out by distributing a Likert scale questionnaire of 19 statements. Moreover, the subjects were 45 elementary school teachers in Riau Province, Indonesia. The results showed that they positively perceived the developed genially-based learning media. Genially learning media can support teachers in teaching. Based on these results, teachers need to develop skills in making various technology-based media, in order to support hybrid learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of a Riau Malay ethnomathematics-based learning module integrating the Batik Nagori Kuansing motif for elementary plane geometry instruction. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The modules validity was assessed by three expert validators and achieved an Aikens V index of 0.87, indicating a high level of validity. Practicality was evaluated through teacher and student questionnaires, with results showing highly practical categories, as reflected by teacher responses of 87.84% and student responses of 91.76%. To measure effectiveness, a pretestposttest design was implemented involving an experimental group and a control group. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental groups learning outcomes after using the ethnomathematics-based module, while no significant improvement was observed in the control group. These findings demonstrate that the ethnomathematics-based module integrating Batik Nagori Kuansing motifs is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing elementary students understanding of plane geometry. The integration of culturally meaningful motifs supports students in connecting abstract geometric concepts with real-life cultural contexts. The developed module is therefore suitable for implementation in elementary mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning media in the form of a dynamic number card game based on number sense as a media for learning mathematics for first graders. This study uses the research and development (RD) with ADDIE model. Data collection techniques were interviews, observation, and questionnaires. The quality of the dynamic number card game was obtained from the validity and practicality test. Expert validation was carried out to evaluate the quality of media and content. The practicality test was conducted one-to-one (3 students) and in small groups (6 students working in small groups). The results showed that the dynamic number card game received a high score of validity from the expert judgment. The students also had positive responses to the practicality of the dynamic number card game in guessing and ordering numbers. The findings indicate that the dynamic number card game has the potential to be used as a medium for learning number sense for first grade students.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of media and technology in 21st-century character-based learning in elementary schools and its relevance in supporting children's transition from kindergarten to elementary school. Using a library research design with a qualitative approach, this study examines literature from national and international journals. The findings indicate that technology integration within the Merdeka Curriculum contributes to developing 21st-century skills (4Cs: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration) while strengthening students' character through interactive and meaningful learning. Digital platforms such as Canva prove effective in increasing student motivation and engagement, facilitating concept visualization, and fostering creativity. In the early childhood-to-elementary transition context, technology functions as an adaptive bridge supporting the shift from play-based to structured learning. Digital media enables gradual, attractive, and contextual delivery of learning materials, supporting children's school readiness including self-regulation, attention, independence, and socio-emotional adjustment. This literature review identifies three major transition barriers: cognitive overload from rapid curriculum changes, socio-emotional adjustment challenges, and limited teacher readiness in technology integration. Among various digital media strategies, gamification and visual content creation through Canva emerge as the most effective approaches, with 78% of reviewed studies reporting significant improvements in student engagement and learning motivation. The study emphasizes that successful 21st-century character-based learning depends on teachers' transformed roles as facilitators who appropriately integrate technology, apply differentiated instruction according to students' readiness, and create transition-friendly learning environments. Thus, technology use not only improves learning quality but also strengthens children's holistic readiness to enter elementary school.
