Abstract

Hypertension is a common non-communicable disease among the elderly. One non-pharmacological intervention to control hypertension is healthy cardiac exercise. This study aimed to determine the effect of healthy cardiac exercise on blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was used with 48 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received healthy cardiac exercise three times per week. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention. The results showed a decrease in systolic blood pressure from 147.38 mmHg to 136.54 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure from 87.63 mmHg to 81.08 mmHg in the intervention group. Statistical analysis indicated a significant difference in blood pressure reduction between the two groups (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that healthy cardiac exercise has a significant effect on reducing blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension

Abstract

Flooding is a frequent disaster in Indonesia. Children, as a vulnerable group, require adequate preparedness to protect themselves when disasters strike. This activity aimed to increase elementary school students' knowledge of flood disaster preparedness. The activity was carried out at SDN 98/IV Kota Jambi involving 40 sixth-grade students. Methods used included interactive lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and simulations delivered via presentation media. The material provided covered an introduction to floods, preparedness measures before, during, and after floods, prevention of post-flood diseases, healthy living behaviors, handwashing practices, and waste sorting. The evaluation was conducted using a disaster preparedness knowledge questionnaire with 15 questions. The results showed an increase in students' knowledge after the educational intervention, as indicated by a rise in the proportion in the "very good" knowledge category from 70% to 87.5%. This indicates that disaster preparedness education is effective in improving students' understanding and readiness to face flood risks. It is hoped that this activity can be implemented continuously and integrated into school learning to strengthen a culture of disaster awareness from an early age.

Abstract

Introduction: Restless Legs Syndrome is a common neurological disorder among chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis, significantly affecting their physical and psychological quality of life. In Indonesia, studies on this association remain limited. This study uniquely employed the CH-RLSQ13 screening tool to provide a more comprehensive and standardized RLS diagnosis. Methods: This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was taken by total sampling using the CH-RLSQ13 screening, obtained 43 CKD patients with RLS who underwent hemodialysis at Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital. Data were collected using IRLSSG questionnaire for RLS level and RLSQoL for quality of life. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation test (p < 0.05).Results: Most of the respondents experienced moderate RLS symptoms. As many as 51.2% of respondents had poor quality of life, while the other 48.8% had good quality of life. The Spearman test results show that there is a significant relationship between the level of RLS and quality of life in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis, with a significance value of 0.001 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.598.Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the severity of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) and quality of life in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. Therefore, it is recommended that health workers pay more attention to the symptoms of RLS in the management of hemodialysis patients, to improve their overall quality of life.

Abstract

Nurul Sri Wahyuni, 2026. “Analysis of Teachers’ Pragmatic Speech Acts towards Students Who Violate the Regulations of SMP Negeri 27 Makassar”. This study aims to describe the pragmatic forms and functions of speech acts used by teachers in handling students who violate school rules at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through observation, recording, and direct note-taking of teacher-student interactions in the school environment. The results indicate that the most dominant speech acts used by teachers are directives, primarily commands, prohibitions, demands, and advice, aimed at regulating student behavior to comply with school norms. Representative, expressive, commissive, and declarative speech acts were also found, functioning to reprimand, explain the reasons behind rules, provide affirmation, and demonstrate the teacher’s institutional authority in fostering student discipline. These findings indicate that teachers’ language plays a crucial role as a tool for social control, character development, and enforcement of school rules through communication strategies oriented toward discipline and education.
