Abstract

This study examines the concept of the application of a variety of decorative wood carvings in the Ndalem Keprieranan through the perspective of functional aesthetic theory. This study aims to identify the connection between aesthetic aspects, functions, and philosophical values contained in wood carving elements in traditional Javanese architecture. The variety of ornaments on the ndalem building acts as a decorative motif that contains symbolic meaning that represents the value system, social structure, and life view of the Javanese people about the relationship between humans, nature, and God. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach through visual observation, documentation, and literature studies, with analysis focused on the shape, motif, composition, and symbolic function of carving. The results of the study suggest that the application of functional aesthetics in the variety of decorative wood carvings in the palace displays a harmonious harmony between visual beauty and constructive function. The value of Tata-Titi-Teges is reflected in the regularity of form, the accuracy of proportion, and the firmness of symbolic meaning, while the value of Nata-Niti-Natas shows a reflective and spiritual dimension that directs human consciousness towards the order of the cosmos. Overall, this study emphasizes that traditional Javanese aesthetics are oriented towards the beauty of appearance which is a value system that combines visual, functional, and spiritual principles in an integrated manner, which makes the variety of wood carvings as an expression of harmony between material and immaterial aspects in the life of the Javanese people.

Abstract

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health issue with a steadily increasing prevalence. One of the main challenges for hemodialysis patients is the increase in interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) due to fluid imbalance. Effective fluid management is crucial for improving patients' self-care abilities, one of which is through the use of smartphone technology. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of using a smartphone based self-care management application on improving self-care management skills in maintaining Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG) in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at RST dr. Soedjono Magelang. The study design was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The study was conducted at dr. Soedjono General Hospital in Magelang with a total of 56 participants, divided into two groups: 28 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The intervention involved the use of a smartphone-based fluid management app over a specific period. Data analysis was performed using a paired t-test.The results showed a significant improvement in self-care ability after the app intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the use of a smartphone app effectively supports fluid management in CKD patients. In conclusion, smartphone-based self-care applications have a positive effect on improving the self-care abilities of PGK patients undergoing hemodialysis. The use of smartphone-based fluid management self-care applications needs to be promoted.

Abstract

A Limited Liability Company (PT) is the most widely used legal entity in Indonesian business practice due to the application of the limited liability principle for shareholders. However, this principle may be misused when directors, commissioners, or shareholders engage in actions that harm third parties. In such circumstances, the piercing the corporate veil doctrine may be invoked to disregard the company’s separate legal personality and impose personal liability on corporate actors. This study examines the application of the piercing the corporate veil doctrine to directors and commissioners who concurrently serve as shareholders in third-party lawsuits, using a normative juridical method and a case study approach on Decision No. 47/Pdt.G/2021/PN Mtr. Although indications of misuse of the corporate entity were present, the court held only the company liable and did not extend liability to the directors or commissioners. The findings indicate that while the doctrine has significant potential to provide legal protection for harmed third parties, its application in Indonesian judicial practice remains limited and is influenced by judicial caution and the high evidentiary threshold required to substantiate abuse of the corporate entity. Therefore, stronger regulatory guidance and more consistent jurisprudence are needed to ensure the doctrine’s effectiveness in delivering justice for aggrieved third parties.

Abstract

Urbanization, globalization, and the intensification of cultural tourism have placed Betawi cultural arts in a vulnerable position amid changes in meaning, commodification, and shifts in aesthetic values. This study aims to explain how cultural aesthetics are mediated as a resilience strategy through representational practices in the Betawi Cultural Village (PBB) Setu Babakan. Using a phenomenological approach and representation theory, it examines how aesthetic experiences—in visual, narrative, and ritual forms—are created, negotiated, and interpreted by cultural actors, including government officials, local communities, and tourists. The analysis was conducted through field observations, in-depth interviews, visual documentation, and hermeneutic interpretations based on Bourdieu's theory of habitus, cultural capital, and the arena of cultural production. The results show that aesthetic mediation functions as a connecting mechanism between traditional values and the demands of the tourism industry, yielding three main processes: creative reproduction, representational transformation, and authenticity negotiation. These processes enable Betawi culture to survive and adapt without losing its essential dimensions of meaning. The findings contribute to the development of cultural tourism studies, cultural communication design, and representation theory in the context of Indonesian urban society.

Abstract

This study examines the authority of curators in enforcing general seizure (sita umum) over objects of Sale and Purchase Binding Agreements (Perjanjian Pengikatan Jual Beli/PPJB) that have not been fully paid in the bankruptcy of a Limited Liability Company, based on the Commercial Court Decision No. 29/Pdt.Sus-GLL/2022/PN.Niaga.Jkt.Pst. The main issue addressed is whether unpaid PPJB objects may be included in the bankruptcy estate (boedel pailit) and the extent of the curator's authority in managing and settling such objects. This research employs a normative juridical method using statutory and case approaches by analyzing Law Number 37 of 2004 on Bankruptcy and Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations, along with relevant court decisions. The findings indicate that unpaid PPJB objects are, in principle, part of the bankruptcy estate since ownership rights have not been fully transferred, thereby granting the curator authority to impose general seizure and conduct management and settlement actions. Nevertheless, the exercise of such authority must consider the principles of justice and legal protection for good-faith buyers. The court's decision clarifies the legal standing of PPJB in bankruptcy proceedings and delineates the scope of the curator's authority.

Abstract

Studies on Pandai Sikek songket as Minangkabau cultural heritage have largely remained descriptive, focusing on its aesthetic, symbolic, and economic values, while offering limited analysis of the cultural transmission mechanisms that sustain weaving skills across generations. This study aims to examine intergenerational learning and social transmission of songket weaving skills in Nagari Pandai Sikek, Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, with particular emphasis on vertical, horizontal, and oblique transmission. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving ten purposively selected informants, including weavers, academics, traditional leaders, and representatives of the nagari government. Data analysis followed an interactive analytical model, and the credibility of the findings was ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The findings indicate that vertical transmission occurs within the family through early-age learning, horizontal transmission takes place through peer interactions and collective practices, and oblique transmission is mediated by actors and institutions beyond kinship relations. These results highlight that Pandai Sikek songket functions not only as a technical craft but also as a medium of social learning that plays a crucial role in sustaining educational, social, and religious values within Minangkabau society.
