Abstract

Fish disease is an obstacle in the cultivation of Dumbo catfish (Clarias sp.) which can result in fish death. The need for information on how to prevent and treat fish diseases is very necessary. This study aims to determine the effect of aeration duration on water quality, ectoparasite intensity, prevalence, dominance, survival and condition factors, then correlate water quality with ectoparasite intensity. This study used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications. Treatment includes aeration 0 hours/day, 6 hours/day, 12 hours/day, 18 hours/day and 24 hours/day. Data analysis using ANOVA of a certain level of significance. If there is a noticeable difference from each treatment, proceed to the DUNCAN test. Test the correlation of water quality with ectoparasite intensity. The result of this study is that long aeration can increase oxygen solubility, acidity but reduce ammonia and nitrite. The correlation value of oxygen solubility in ectoparasite intensity is 0.828, acidity (pH) is 0.849, ammonia is -0.888, nitrite is -0.592. The prevalence value of P0 and P1 is 0%, P2 is 89%, P3 and P4 is 100%. The intensity of ectoparasites in Dumbo catfish (Clarias sp.), at P0 is 2, P1 is 13, P2 is 75, while at P3 and P4 is 100. The dominance of ectoparasites that infect is Trichodina sp. by 71.7-100% and Dactylogyrus sp. by 0-28.4%. The survival rate of fish at P0 was highest with a value of 89%, P1 at 84%, P2 at 71%, P3 and P4 rates at 0%. The value of the condition factor then P0 and P1 have a value of 1, P2, P3 and P4 have a condition factor value of 1. It is concluded that the longer aeration is given, the solubility of oxygen increases which results in an increase in the intensity and prevalence of ectoparasite infections, the pH of the water becomes neutral and decreases the content of ammonia and nitrite. There is a moderate to very strong correlation between water quality and ectoparasite intensity. There is an increase in the prevalence of infection, ectoparasite intensity and fish mortality so that it can reduce the survival and condition factors of Dumbo catfish (Clarias sp.).Keywords:AerationInfectionEctoparasitesClarias sp

Abstract

Carbonated hydroxyapatite is frequently used as bone graft material in dentistry. It is highly biocompatible, has osteoconductive properties, and functions as a drug delivery system. Propolis is a natural product from bees that has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects and is capable of accelerating wound healing. Incorporating propolis into carbonated hydroxyapatite was expected to enhance the wound-healing process by stimulating fibroblast growth and regenerating alveolar bone in the treatment of periodontitis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of carbonated hydroxyapatite with incorporated propolis on the viability of NIH 3T3 fibroblast cells. This study used three treatment groups [carbonated hydroxyapatite with various concentrations of incorporated propolis (5%, 7.5%, and 10%)] and one control group (carbonated hydroxyapatite with no propolis). An MTT assay was carried out to assess cell viability, and absorbance readings were performed by using an ELISA reader. The data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA. The results showed significant differences between all groups, and carbonated hydroxyapatite with 10% incorporated propolis has the highest cell viability level of all groups, while the control group has the lowest cell viability. In conclusion, adding propolis to carbonated hydroxyapatite could increase the growth of NIH 3T3 fibroblast cells. Keywords: Carbonated hydroxyapatite, Propolis, NIH 3T3 fibroblast cells, MTT assay

Abstract

Bottle filling, closing, and labellingmachine control and monitoring tool using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI). This tool is designed to optimize the production process in the bottled beverage industry, with dimensions of 200 cm × 70 cm × 100 cm. The conveyor transports bottles through the filling, capping, and labeling units. In each unit, sensors are installed to detect the presence of bottles. Bottle liquid volume is determined through time settings inputted through the HMI,and the filling is performed by a water pump. After filling, bottles are capped and tightened mechanically using an air impact system. Labeling is handled by two DC motors which unroll the label and rotate the bottle, ensuringthe label adheres evenlyto all sides of the bottle. The number of bottles produced is calculated using a capacitive proximity sensor and displayed on the HMI. Testing results show that the system effectivelycontrols and monitors the bottle filling, capping, and labeling process viaPLC and HMI. Based on the test results on the bottle filling unit, the system can fill water into the bottle with a maximum percentage error of 0.5% on a 1000 ml volume bottle. In the capping unit, the success rate achieved is 70%, while the success rate in the bottle labeling unit is 80%.
