Abstract

Chemistry motivation is one of the research topics that continues to grow today. This study aims to explore the chemistry learning motivation of high school students in Indonesia with a focus on differences based on gender and student grade. The research method used was a cross-sectional survey using an adapted questionnaire from the Chemistry Motivation Questionnaire II (CMQ II). The research sample consisted of 753 high school students from 9 schools in Yogyakarta and Bengkulu. The results of the validity and reliability analysis of the instrument showed that the CMQ II questionnaire used in this study was valid and reliable. The five dimensions of chemistry learning motivation measured through 25 question items are intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, self-determination, career motivation, and grade motivation. The two-way ANOVA test was used to analyze significant differences in students' chemistry learning motivation based on gender and grade between populations. The results of quantitative data analysis also show that the interaction between gender and class has a significant difference with a significance level of 0.003, which means that there is a significant difference in students' chemistry motivation based on gender and class.

Abstract

This research aims to provide an overview of the research methodology used in conducting a literature review of 21 journals indexed by Scopus and included in the Q1 category during the 2013-2022 period. This research uses a literature review method, this method is a scientific approach that provides a comprehensive picture of the development of a research topic. Through this literature review, researchers can obtain information regarding the year of publication, research methods applied, instruments used in each journal, and the focus of studies conducted by each journal. At the results and discussion stage, this research details the concept of Z score as a statistical value, factor analysis, correlation between factors, and coding analysis in the context of qualitative research. The concept of in-depth analysis which includes an in-depth examination of a subject or phenomenon is also discussed in detail. In addition, various research methods such as constant-comparative, person map items, PCS, TSPCK rubric, questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation are explained in depth. The importance of pedagogical competence in implementing the educational process is in the main spotlight, and analysis of the literature in the journal "Chemistry Education Research and Practice" shows the dominance of the use of qualitative methods in 2020. Interviews are recognized as an irrelevant method. only flexible but also in-depth, supported by the application of observation and analysis of supporting factors

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a science e-book with material on the respiratory system using the PjBL model which can be used to improve students' creative thinking skills. This is a R&D using Borg and Gall research design. This research uses a one group pretest-posttest design. Subjects were 31 students in grade 8C of SMP Negeri 5 Depok Yogyakarta. Level of product suitability show that in terms of content suitability, presentation suitability and language suitability, as well as the characteristics of PjBL e-books, the average value is 3.25 in the very good category. Graphic aspects as well as technical quality and usability aspects received an average score of 3.40 in the very good category, meaning this e-book can be used in learning at school. Furthermore, the average product practicality level results for students were 90.10% in the very practical category. The research results show that the PjBL model science e-book can improve students' creative thinking skills with a normalized gain test of 0.7 in the high category. Therefore, the e-book with material on the respiratory system that has been developed can facilitate the application of the PjBL model and improve students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Creative thinking is one of the abilities needed in facing the 21st century era. Various problems in learning chemistry make students have to be creative thinkers to solve the problems they face. This study aims to determine creative thinking skills in chemistry learning. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) which adopts 5 stages from Denyer and Tranfield with the criteria of articles on creative thinking skills in learning chemistry indexed by Scopus, Sinta 1, and Sinta 2 from 2014 to 2023, full text and open source. There were 17 articles that fit these criteria. The results of the literature review show that most studies involve chemistry education students as prospective teachers who have an important role in developing students' creative thinking skills. In addition, most studies aim to investigate the effect of learning models on creative thinking skills. Project Based Learning (PjBL) model with a STEM approach is the most effective learning used to improve creative thinking skills with student learning outcomes of 83.00. Based on the results of the literature review, it was found that there is a positive relationship between learning outcomes and creative thinking skills. The better students' learning outcomes, the better their creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This article examines how in an educational setting communication skills can enhance critical thinking abilities through guided inquiry. Human resources (HR) must be improved in light of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, but obstacles to learning include low student engagement, a lack of enthusiasm, and a lack of critical thinking abilities. Although communication skills are frequently a barrier, guided inquiry is recognized as a learning model capable of advancing students' critical thinking abilities. The activity steps in guided inquiry are covered in this article, along with pertinent communication skills such as explanation of delivery, material mastery, group interaction, and responding. It is highlighted how critical thinking abilities and communication skills are linked in 21st-century learning. It is widely acknowledged that effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills are essential for guided inquiry. Source triangulation was employed as a qualitative research method with a post-positivism approach to gather data. The article emphasizes how communication skills help students develop their critical thinking abilities by enabling them to assess and connect information to a wider context in addition to gathering and analyzing it. The conclusion highlights the need of communication abilities

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of e-book teaching materials on Temperature and Heat Science materials packaged with the STEM-PjBL approach in increasing students' learning motivation and creative thinking abilities. This research uses a quasi-experimental quantitative research method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this research were 32 students in class VII C of SMP Negeri 5 Depok. The results of the research that has been carried out show the high learning motivation of students. For each indicator the conformity point is above 50%, so in this case it can be stated that students' opinions are more interested in using STEM-PjBL based science e-books. Meanwhile, students' creative thinking abilities show N-Gain values in each aspect, namely fluency of 0.45, flexibility of 0.38, novelty of 0.61, and usefulness of 0.62. The average N-Gain for creative thinking ability is 0.52 in the "Medium" category. In this way, STEM-PjBL based science e-books can create learning motivation and creative thinking abilities in students

Abstract

The process of learning interactions between living things and the environment requires direct observation by students, but in reality the school is located in the city center with a less than optimal surrounding environment. The availability of learning media for this material has not been widely developed by students. The research aims to produce aquascape media that is suitable as an aid in learning interactions between living things and the environment to improve students' mastery of concepts and communication skills. The research uses a 4D development model which includes Define, Design, Develop, and Dessiminate. The test subjects were taken using a cluster random sampling technique and a sample of 66 students at SMPN 12 Yogyakarta was obtained, consisting of experimental and control classes. The field test used quasi-experimental research with a nonequivalent control group design. The feasibility, teacher practicality, and effectiveness of assessing aquascape media as an aid in learning interactions between living creatures and the developed environment are included in very good and practical.
