Abstract

In this letter, performance analysis of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM) is presented in term of bit error rate (BERs). The analysis considers its performance under two impairments, symbol time offset (STO) and carrier frequency offset (CFO) in frequency-selective fading channel. As orthogonal multicarrier system, OFDM-IM is subject to both inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI) in a frequency-selective fading channel. OFDM-IM is a new multicarrier communication system, where the active subcarriers indices are used to carry additional bits of information. In general, in the previous existing works, OFDM-IM are evaluated only for near-ideal communication scenarios by only incorporating the CFO factor. In this work, the OFDM-IM performance is investigated and compared with conventional OFDM in the presence of two impairments, STO and CFO. Simulation results show that OFDM-IM outperforms the conventional OFDM with the presence of STO and CFO, especially at high SNR areas.

Abstract

Precoding in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system proved to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), so that it improves BER. However, from the existing literature, the effect of carrier frequency offset (CFO), in-phase and quadrature (IQ) imbalance on precoded wireless OFDM systems has not been carried out. Therefore, this study evaluated the precoded OFDM (P-OFDM) system performance by considering the impact of CFO and IQ imbalance. P-OFDM performance evaluation is expressed in signal-to-interference noise ratio (SINR) and bit error rates (BER). The communication channels used are the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and the frequency-selective Rayleigh fading (FSRF) channel, while the channel equalization process is considered perfect. The results of the analysis and simulation show that P-OFDM is greater affected by the presence of CFO and IQ imbalance than conventional OFDM system. In AWGN channel, P-OFDM experiences different SINR for each subcarrier. This is different from conventional OFDM system, where all SINRs are the same for all subcarriers. In the FSRF channel, both the POFDM system and the OFDM system experience different SINR for each subcarrier, where the SINRs fluctuation in the P-OFDM system is much larger than in the OFDM system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of LOC, self-efficacy, and organizational justice on employee performance with OCB as a mediating variable among employees in the cutting department of PT. Hyup Sung Indonesia. This study uses quantitative research with saturated sampling or census method. The population consists of 132 employees in the cutting department. Data were collected using direct questionnaires. Data analysis used SEM-PLS. The results show that LOC does not significantly affect employee performance, but has a positive and significant effect on OCB. Self-efficacy and organizational justice positively and significantly affect employee performance and OCB. OCB positively and significantly affects employee performance and mediates the effects of self-efficacy and organizational justice on employee performance, but does not mediate the effects of LOC. The analysis results show that organizational justice is the most influential variable in improving employee performance, both directly and through the mediating role of OCB. This study contributes to strengthening human resource studies through the role of OCB in improving performance. The findings of this study also provide guidelines for organizations in improving fairness practices to encourage positive work behavior.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a game-based interactive puzzle learning media designed to foster critical thinking skills in fifth-grade elementary students. The media are used in the instructional topic “Creating Artworks from Household Waste Materials” to enhance students’ critical reasoning abilities. Methodology: This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the ADDIE framework, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants were 20 fifth-grade students. Data were gathered through expert validation forms, teacher and student questionnaires, and pretest–posttest instruments, and then analyzed using Likert-scale scoring and N-Gain testing. Main Findings: The validation results indicated an average score of 4.56 from the material expert, 4.57 from the media expert, and 4.46 from the practitioner, all categorized as highly feasible. Teacher responses reached 97%, while student responses in the limited trial and field trial were 100% and 99%, respectively, indicating a very high level of practicality. The effectiveness of the media was demonstrated by N-Gain scores of 81.90% in the limited trial and 79.28% in the field trial, both of which were classified as high. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces a game-based interactive puzzle media integrated with critical thinking indicators in elementary school visual arts instruction. The media emphasizes not only creativity but also the development of students’ critical thinking skills through contextual problem-solving activities that use household waste materials.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of work burden, work stress, and compensation on employee performance, with motivation serving as an intervening variable. This research employs a quantitative approach, using a method that collects data in the form of questionnaires, which are then converted into a Likert scale. In research, populations and samples are often discussed. There are 100 employees at LAZISMU Central Java, and the study employs saturated sampling, a type of non-probability sampling. Analysis method used in this study: SEMPLS (Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares). The study’s results indicate that workload has a significant effect on work motivation and employee performance, both directly and through work motivation as an intervening variable. The more precise the workload management, the higher the motivation and performance produced. In contrast, compensation and work stress have no significant effect, either directly or indirectly, on motivation and performance. These findings indicate that in a work environment like Lazismu Banyumas, employee performance is more influenced by internal factors and work values, such as the meaning of workload and motivational strength, rather than financial incentives or work pressure.
