Abstract

A variety of differentiated approach students’ worksheets depict pivotal role to support meaningful and interesting English language learning. Through the application of developmental research, this study aimed at designing and developing the feasibility of a differentiated-based workbook to improve students’ reading comprehension skills. The developed product was expected to meet the students’ needs in accordance with their learning styles. This study was conducted at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University, Indonesia, by applying a model by Akker (1999), which involves the phases of analysis, design, evaluation and revision modified by Tessmer (1993). A model by O’Brein (1985) was also used to identify students’ learning styles, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. Questionnaire, test and interview were delivered to gain the data from 38 students, in which three participants in one-to-one evaluation, nine students in small group evaluation, and 26 participants in field test. Content validity demonstrated high validity, with the average score of 4,15. Through the construct validity, the workbook had high validity with the average score of 4,65 while technology validity proved its validity with revision in the average score of 4,4. The one-to-one evaluation included three students, with one student exemplifying three distinct learning styles, achieving an average score of 3.8. The practicality and effectiveness of this developed workbook based on learning styles showed excellent result with the average score of 4.16. In summary, differentiated approach-based students’ worksheet can be used to teach and improve students’ reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

Baik di negara industri maupun negara berkembang, penyakit kardiovaskular merupakan ancaman signifikan bagi kesehatan masyarakat. Secara global, hipertensi menduduki peringkat sebagai penyebab kematian utama setiap tahunnya. Di seluruh dunia, hipertensi memengaruhi sekitar 1,28 miliar individu berusia 30-79 tahun, menurut Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia. Kementerian Kesehatan Indonesia melaporkan bahwa 30,8% penduduk menderita hipertensi pada tahun 2023. Dengan tren yang mengkhawatirkan di semua kelompok usia, prevalensi hipertensi di Indonesia terus berada di sekitar sepertiga populasi dewasa pada tahun 2025. Sementara itu, hipertensi termasuk dalam sepuluh penyakit teratas di Kabupaten Bengkulu Utara. Menurunkan tekanan darah tanpa menggunakan obat-obatan dan potensi efek sampingnya dimungkinkan melalui pengobatan non-farmakologis. Senam untuk lansia adalah salah satu jenis pengobatan non-farmakologis tersebut. Sebagai jenis latihan fisik, senam lansia terdiri dari serangkaian gerakan terkoordinasi yang dirancang untuk menjaga tubuh tetap bergerak dan kuat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana senam untuk lansia memengaruhi tekanan darah pada lansia penderita hipertensi. Secara spesifik, pendekatan kuasi-eksperimental pretest-posttest satu kelompok digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pendekatan pengambilan sampel yang digunakan sangat teliti. Sebanyak 21 orang berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa lansia yang melakukan senam lansia menurunkan tekanan darah sistolik mereka dari rata-rata 141 mmHg sebelum aktivitas menjadi 125 mmHg setelahnya, menunjukkan bahwa senam lansia membantu mengatur tekanan darah. Tekanan darah diastolik turun dari rata-rata 91 mm Hg sebelum olahraga menjadi 79 mm Hg setelahnya. Lansia dengan hipertensi mungkin mendapat manfaat dari senam dalam menurunkan tekanan darah, seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai p 0,000 (nilai p <0,005).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the students’ perception on the use of U-Dictionary toward the vocabulary ability. In research, a well-structured research design is essential. The results of this study indicate that students' perceptions of the use of U-Dictionary were generally positive. The majority of respondents stated that U-Dictionary is effective in helping their vocabulary ability, especially because of features. Contextual features such as example sentences and synonyms play an important role in vocabulary retention. Accessibility was the main reason for using U-Dictionary. The app's ability to be used in offline mode was considered a major advantage, especially for students with limited internet access. U-Dictionary has a greater impact on their vocabulary ability and reading comprehension, but is less significant in developing overall speaking and writing skills. Preferably students can maximize to utilizing U-Dictionary not only as an instant translation tool, but also actively utilizing supporting features. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of digital media in improving student engagement in Islamic Religious Education. The study explores how the integration of digital platforms, interactive applications, and multimedia resources can enhance students’ motivation, participation, and understanding of Islamic values. By employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through literature review and observations of digital learning practices in Islamic education settings. The findings reveal that digital media not only provides innovative methods for delivering religious content but also fosters active involvement, critical thinking, and collaborative learning among students. Moreover, the use of digital tools aligns with the learning styles of the current generation, making Islamic Religious Education more relevant, accessible, and engaging. However, challenges such as digital literacy gaps, limited resources, and the need for proper guidance from educators must also be addressed to maximize the potential benefits. This study highlights the importance of adopting digital media strategically to strengthen students’ religious knowledge and values in a modern learning environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this research (1) the skills of writing expository narrative essays for class X students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang before applying the mind mapping technique based on problem based learning models.(2) The skills of writing expository narrative essays for class X students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang after applying the mind mapping technique based on problem based learning models.(3) Analyzing the effect of applying mind mapping techniques based on problem based learning models on the skills of writing expository narrative essays for class X students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang. This type of research is quantitative.The research method applied is the experimental method. The research design is a pre-test and post-test group design.The procedure of this research were (1) pretest stage, (2) treatment, (3) posttest.The research sample was 30 class X4 students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang.The instrument used in this study is the performance test.There are three data collection procedures in this study, (1) do a pretest, data collection procedures before applying problem based learning mind mapping techniques,(2) carry out the learning process by applying mind mapping techniques based on problem based learning models,(3) held a posttest. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, the following conclusions are obtained (1) The skills of writing expository narrative essays for class X4 students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang before being applied to the problem-based learning model-based mind mapping technique were in the "sufficient" qualification with a score of 65.21.(2) The skills of writing expository narrative essays for class X4 students of SMK Negeri 8 Padang after being applied the mind mapping technique based on the problem-based learning model are in the "good" qualification with a score of 81.6.(3) There is an influence of the application of mind mapping techniques based on problem based learning models on the skills of writing expository narrative essays in class X SMA Negeri 8 Padang by testing the hypothesis through measurement using the t-test (t-test) obtained tcount of 4.23, and ttable of 1.70 with a significant level of 0.95 and n-2 degrees of freedom.this means that t count is bigger than t table.Then the research hypothesis is accepted.So, the mind mapping technique based on the problem based learning model is appropriate to be applied in learning to write expository narrative essays for class X students of SMA Negeri 8 Padang.
