Abstract Posdaya is an integrated forum of friendship, communication, advocacy, and family empowerment. Posdaya focuses on four fields, namely education, health, entrepreneurship and environment. The study was administered using a descriptive correlational research survey design by scrutinizing communication activities and level of empowerment. The purposes of this study were: 1) to describe the communication activities of Posdaya cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency; 2) to describe the empowerment level of Posdaya cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency; 3) to analyze the individual characteristics and environmental factors associated with communication activities of Posdaya cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency; 4) to analyze the individual characteristics and environmental factors associated with the level of empowerment of Posdaya cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency; and 5) to analyze the relationship between the communication activities and level of empowerment of Posdaya cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency. The samples of this study were 92 Posdaya cadres. The data was processed and analyzed using t-test samples and rank Spearman Correlation Formula. The results showed that: 1) there is a difference in terms of level of education, level of experience, level of income, access to media, and the role as companion between the cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency; 2) there is a difference on the use of communication media such as radio and television between the cadres in Bogor City and Bogor Regency; 3) there is a relation in terms of cognitive, affective and behavior aspects between interpersonal activities, mediated communication, and communication in groups and level of empowerment of Posdaya cadres. (The Influences of Shot Duration and Narration Tempo toward Information Absorption of Crystal Guava (Psidium guajava L.))ABSTRACTThis research was conducted to analyze the influences of shot duration and narration tempo toward information absorption. Shot duration in this research is referred to the length (on seconds) of each shots on video after editing, so that the audience interested to watch and understand what is the video tell us about. This experimental research was conducted on 60 posdaya members which were randomly selected and divided into four treatment groups. Data was analyzed using Two-way analysis of varians. The result shows that shot duration has a significant influence on the absorption of information, while there is no significant differrence has been shown by narration tempo. Meanwhile, the combination of shot duration and narration tempo which has most influence on information absorption is fast shot duration with a slow narrative tempo, according to the average posttest score of four treatment groups. Key words: Information Absorption, Narration Tempo, Shot Duration. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh durasi shot dan tempo narasi terhadap penyerapan informasi. Durasi Shot yang dimaksud dalam penelitian ini adalah berapa detik durasi setiap gambar (shot) dalam video setelah melalui proses pemotongan (cut dalam editing), agar penonton tertarik untuk menikmati tayangan tersebut serta memahami isi ceritanya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk menganalisis pengaruh durasi shot dan tempo narasi terhadap penyerapan informasi anggota Posdaya Cisadane Kecamatan Cigombong Kabupaten Bogor. Penelitian Eksperimen ini dilakukan pada 60 anggota posdaya yang dipilih secara random dan dibagi menjadi empat kelompok perlakuan. Data dianalisa menggunakan analisis sidik ragam dua arah (Two-way ANOVA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa durasi shot memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap penyerapan informasi, sedangkan tempo narasi belum terbukti memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap penyerapan informasi. Sementara itu, kombinasi antara durasi shot dan tempo narasi yang paling berpengaruh terhadap penyerapan informasi adalah durasi shot cepat dengan tempo narasi lambat, dilihat melalui rataan hasil skor pos tes empat kelompok perlakuan.Kata kunci : Durasi Shot, Penyerapan Informasi, Tempo Narasi.

Pummelo farmers need production technology and marketing information to optimize their capability and agricultural productivity. Communication process to disseminate information about pummelo nursery, maintanance, and marketing between farmers and external stakeholder will build a communication network. The purpose of this study is to analyze communication structure in dissemination of pummelo nursery, maintanance, and marketing information; identified main actors in the networks; analyze correlation between farmer characterctics and communication network analysis, and correlation between communication network analysis with the effectiveness of information dissemination. The result of this study shows that extension worker are the main actor in disseminationof pummelo nursery and maintanance information network, and whole seller is the main actor in dissemination of marketing information network. There’s no significantly correlation between farmers characteristics and communication network analysis in dissemination of pummelo nursery, maintanance, and marketing information, except cosmopolity variable and outdegree centrality in dissemination of pummelo maintanance information. In addition, there’s no significatly correlation between communication network analysis variables and effectiveness dissemination of information in production and marketing network.Keywords: communication process, farmers, network

Utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is one solution to deliver information of governance and public services optimally to the village level. This research aimed to analyze website visitor characteristics, dimensions of website quality, role of internet opinion leader, and effectivenes of village website, also to analyze the correlation between three variables with effectiveness of village website. This study used correlational approach of quantitative. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, also t-test analysis. Collecting data used a survey method by spreading e-questionnaire to 40 website visitors of two sample groups, active members of Facebook accounts Pewarta Desa Malasari and commenters on website. Based on the characteristics of website visitors, only indicator of monthly income and frequency of accessing website correlated significantly with effectiveness of village website. Information quality has strongest correlation with the effectiveness of village website, especially on the cognitive effects. The role of internet opinion leaders has no significant correlation with effectiveness of village website. Other findings showed that Facebook account of Pewarta Desa Malasari and Aji Panjalu acted as active internet opinion leaders. Village website can be effective as development information dissemination media by fullfil dimensions of website quality, and maximize the role of internet opinion leaders via social media. The use of social media has become important in supporting the existence of the village website, so it can do further research to see the relationship with the effectiveness of communication.Key words: effectivenness, village website, Facebook, internet opinion leader

Information has become one of the main needs of the community. Now, the trend of high school students in selecting agricultural major, has decreased. Promotion media of university is very important to improve the information, knowledge, and interests of students in selecting agricultural major in university. This study was conducted to know about the performance of promotion media of IPB. This study used a quantitative approach with survey research method. Data analysis methods used correlational descriptive and gratification discrepancy analysis (T-Test). Data collecting used questionnaire to 112 high school student who participants of “visit program”to IPB. The result shows there any differences of student gratification level toward presentation media, Facebook, and Twitter. Presentation media can use as main media in IPB promotion activity, because based on result of gratification discrepancy, the performances was good and significant. Presentation media can use as mainstream media promotion of IPB.Keyword: gratification, high school students, performance, promotion media, university

Effective and efficient marketing is a key in increasing farmers income. Interaction between farmers would involve the sharing of information about marketing and creating a communication network among cocoa farmers. Communication networks should be developed in cocoa marketing because it can provide information to farmers about the price and quality that consumers needs and more profitable marketing purposes. The measure of this study used analysis of communication networks which is ‘centrality’. Centrality refers to the position of actors (nodes) in the overall network and see how centrals actors in the network. Centrality measurements used in this study are degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweeness centrality. The purposes of this study were 1) to describe the individual characteristics of farmers, media exposure by farmers, and communication network 2) to analyze the correlation between farmers characteristic and communication network analysis and 3) to analyze the correlation between media exposure and communication network analysis. The result of this study showed that 1) the variable of farmer characteristics such as age was relatively adult, formal education was relatively low, the area of land cultivated was relatively moderate, farming experience was relatively high, and group experiences is relatively high on Tunas Harapan group and moderate on Bunga Harapan group. The variable of media exposure such as media ownership, frequency, and duration of media use was relatively low. The central actor on Tunas Harapan group was the group leader while the central actor on Bunga Harapan group was the group member. 2)Farmer characteristic correlated with degree centrality was formal education and farmer characteristics correlated with closeness centrality were the area of land cultivated and experience of the group. 3) Media exposures correlated with degree centrality were media ownership, the frequency of media use and the duration of media use then media exposure of farmer correlated with betweeness centrality were the frequency of media use and duration of media use.

Farmers welfare needs extra attention from agricultural development stakeholders. SRI's organic rice farming program implemented by the Harapan Dhuafa (Harfa) humanitarian agency in Parigi Village, Saketi Sub-district, Pandeglang District, Banten Province has scored social change agents. The steps taken by Harfa in running the program is through participatory communication approach in the process of adoption of organic rice farming innovation SRI method. The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of beneficiary individuals and to analyze the relationship of individual beneficiary characteristics, the intensity of participatory communication, the perception of program benefits and the level of social entrepreneurship, so that participatory communication in the context of social entrepreneurship can be well described in the organic rice farming program SRI. Research results show participative communication in the development of organic rice farming SRI method has a positive impact for the development of social entrepreneurship in Parigi Village. Through intensive participatory communication, the farmers actively engage in dialogue, arguing to reflect the results of the training/field schools in their respective fields. The emergence of individual beneficiary character in organic rice farming in increasing income and also awareness in improving environmental quality and health by producing and consuming organic rice. Based on the analysis using chi square correlation showed that there is no real relationship between the characteristics of individual beneficiaries with the intensity of participatory communication, the perception of program benefits and the level of social entrepreneurship. That is, the characteristics of individual beneficiaries is not a benchmark in an effort to increase organic rice farming methods SRI. Factors that have major influence on the intensity of participatory communication, the perception of program benefits and the level of social entrepreneurship.

Librarians at the Ministry of Agriculture are civil servants (PNS), who are appointed through a selection process whose duties and positions are governed in functional positions and credit figures based on ministerial regulations on the utilization of the state apparatus and the reform of the Indonesian bureaucracy. The librarian's profession as a civil servant is closely related to how they are able to communicate interpersonally and how it can support their performance as government employees. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the description of librarians of the ministry of agriculture, to analyze the relationship of librarian characteristics with the competence of interpersonal communication and to analyze the relation of competence of interpersonal communication and librarian performance. As well as analyzing the differences of interpersonal communication and the performance of expert librarians and skilled librarians. The research was conducted at library institution of Ministry of Agriculture with the number of respondents was 72 people. Data collection in the field was conducted during May 2017. The data obtained were processed using descriptive statistics, srearman ranks and chi-square to find relationships between variables. The majority of librarians judge that the competence of their interpersonal communication is in the category of both skilled librarians and expert librarians. Relationship characteristic with interpersonal communication occurs only on indicator of gender relationship to supportiveness and positiveness, formal and norformal education level to Positiveness. Performance has a relationship with interpersonal communication based on credit score only on indicator supportiveness. Overall performance indicators of work behavior assessment are significantly related to interpersonal communication. Empathy, Positiveness and supportiveness of expert and skilled librarians have real differences. While the performance of expert and skilled librarians has no real difference.

The increasing number of social media users in Indonesia certainly provides a great opportunity to optimize social media as a communication medium. One of them is social media used as a promotional media for agricultural development, on the other hand it is not only social media that is used for media promotion. In fact, in the field many found that conventional media / traditional media are still used as promotional media. The research focused on the effectiveness of agro-tourism promotion media using social media and conventional media in Banyuwangi Regency. The research approach uses quantitative data with survey methods and uses questionnaires as a data collection tool. The sample of this study were three agro-tourism groups from three sub-districts in Banyuwangi Regency with the total number of social media users being 226 visitors and 146 visitors for conventional media users. Data were collected in May-July 2018. Data were analyzed by SPSS 22 and Mann Whitney Test descriptively. The results showed that Pvalue Svarna Agrotourism was 0.226, this value is greater than the significant value (α = 0.05) which indicates that conventional social media and media are different. Pvalue of Pb Agro Tourism is 0.003, this value is smaller than the significant value (α = 0.05) which indicates that sociald media and conventional media have no difference. While the value of Values of Steam Agro Tourism is 0.443, this value is greater than the significant value (α = 0.05) which indicates that conventional social media and media are different.

AbstractThe core competence of the librarian is the functional competence that each librarian has in carrying out the library task. Increased professional competence of librarians can be done through training appropriate to the needs of librarians using Training Needs Assessment (TNA). TNA is capable of producing objective, systematic, and sustainable training needs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the core competency level of core librarians, establish training needs and priorities of training, and provide recommendations for training programs. The research was conducted by survey and interview method. A total of 16 librarians atthe Bogor Agricultural Institute because respondents use questionnaires with self-evaluation techniques. The results show there are some actual professional competencies that are under ideal competence. The priority of training programs is the information literacy and internet network for library services. The recommended methods used are on the job training and off the job training. Recommended as a training method to improve the core competence of librarians.Keywords: compentency, higher education, librarian, TNA-T, training need assessment.
