Abstract

Environmental crises, such as forest and land fires (karhutla) in Central Kalimantan, pose severe ecological, social, and economic threats, demanding immediate and context-sensitive ethical responses. This study asserts that religion, particularly Islamic ecotheology, plays a critical role in shaping environmental ethics and guiding sustainable practices among Muslim communities. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and media document analysis (2019–2025), the study explores how Islamic teachings can be applied to address these ecological challenges. The findings reveal three main points. First, Islamic environmental ethics highlight human responsibility as khalifah (stewards of the earth) to maintain mizan (balance) and pursue maṣlaḥah (public good), yet these values are not fully reflected in community practices, as land burning persists. Second, Islamic ecotheology has been promoted through fatwas, organizational movements, and eco-education programs, though its impact is limited without strong law enforcement and community participation. Third, integrating Islamic principles with Dayak local wisdom and collaborative governance enhances practical solutions for fire prevention and ecological stewardship. Overall, Islamic ecotheology offers both normative guidance and actionable frameworks, emphasizing the synergy of religion, culture, and policy in mitigating environmental crises in Central Kalimantan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the Innovative Work Behaviour (IWB) of lecturers at Private Universities (PTS) in West Sumatra. Organizational Innovativeness Climate (OIC) and Motivation to Learn (MTL) are identified as the main factors that drive innovation. Knowledge Sharing (KS) acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between the two factors and the innovative behaviour of lecturers. This study uses a quantitative method with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. Data collection techniques through questionnaire surveys with Proportional Stratified Random Sampling techniques. The results show that OIC and MTL have a significant influence on IWB and KS. KS is proven to be a mediating variable on the influence of MTL on IWB. However, Knowledge Sharing does not mediate the influence of OIC on IWB. These findings are important for Private Universities in creating a more innovative and competitive academic environment. Increasing the culture of KS and MTL, innovation in teaching can improve the IWB of lecturers. The results of this study will help PTS in improving academic competitiveness

Abstract

A substantial body of research suggests that learning styles contribute to learners’ academic performance; however, evidence regarding their influence in tertiary-level EFL contexts remains inconsistent. While many studies report positive correlations between learning styles and language achievement, recent findings indicate that learning style differences do not always lead to significant performance variations. This inconsistency highlights the need for further investigation, particularly in Islamic higher education settings where empirical studies are still limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine whether learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic—significantly affect the academic achievement of EFL students. Employing a quantitative ex post facto design, data were collected from 30 students using a learning style questionnaire adapted from DePorter et al. (2007) measured through a five-point Likert scale, along with official final exam scores from English skill courses. The data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA, Tukey HSD, and a Kruskal–Wallis test. The results revealed no significant differences in academic achievement among the three learning style groups, F(2, 27) = 0.334, p = 0.719, a finding reinforced by the non-parametric test (p = 0.864). Although kinesthetic learners showed slightly higher mean scores, the differences were not statistically meaningful. These findings suggest that learning styles do not significantly influence EFL students’ academic achievement in Islamic higher education. The study underscores the importance of adopting multimodal and flexible instructional approaches rather than relying solely on learning style-based teaching.

Abstract

The shift in the educational paradigm towards a service industry model has transformed the parent-teacher relationship from a collaborative partnership into a transactional and tense dynamic, placing teachers in a dilemma between maintaining professional pedagogical authority and meeting parental demands. This qualitative study, employing a hermeneutic phenomenology approach, aims to reveal the essence of teachers' experiences in interpreting this conflict and to analyze it ethically. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, parents, and school principals, supplemented by document analysis, and interpreted through the lens of Paul Ricoeur. The findings, illustrated by a deep analysis of the case of corporal punishment at SMAN 1 Cimarga, reveal that the use of physical discipline represents a repressive Foucauldian power relation that objectifies the student's body. This approach only generates short-term, fear-based pseudo-obedience, fails to build critical consciousness, and instead teaches a hidden curriculum that legitimizes violence. Furthermore, such action contradicts humanistic educational philosophy and the national principle of Sistem Among. The discussion underscores a fundamental failure in educational dialectics and highlights the urgent need for a paradigm shift from punitive discipline to a restorative approach that repairs relationships and internalizes values. The study implies a critical necessity to redefine ethical boundaries and foster school-family collaboration to create a humane and integral educational ecosystem.

Abstract

Employees are an important asset of a company to achieve the goals of the company's vision and mission. To retain employees, leaders are needed who are able to motivate their employees. Motivation is a good desire in a person to do something both consciously and unconsciously, done with enthusiasm so that the goal can be achieved. With strong motivation, a company can develop rapidly and vice versa, if there is no motivation for its employees, the company will not develop or advance. The success of a company really depends on how the activity and creativity of the human resources in the company. Therefore, researchers conducted research at the company PT Kimia Farma Tbk Plant Watudakon in Jombang with data collection methodology, namely observation, documentation and questionnaires and discussed what factors affect employee motivation with data qualitative data analysis methods with the data used is quantitative data. This study uses a closed interview technique by circulating several statements that are typed online via google form. From the research results, the results for physiological needs are 78.6% and 65.7%, the need for security is 81.5% and 70%, social needs are 91.4% and 64.3%, self-esteem or ego needs are 70% and 77.1%, and self-actualization needs are 81.5% and 32.8%. From the existing conclusions, it is found that the need for self-actualization is the lowest dimension of motivation. This indicates that many employees can do work outside of their job desk, so the author suggests that companies further explore employee abilities through job enlargemenet, job enrichment, job rotation and job empowerment programs.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the impact of profitability and solvency on dividend policy in non-cyclical consumer sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2021 to 2024. This sector was chosen because of its important role in the national economy, particularly given its relatively stable characteristics in the face of global economic dynamics, as seen in the production of staple goods. The independent variables in this study are profitability, proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), and solvency, proxied by the Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR). The dependent variable is dividend policy, measured by the Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR). The research method used is a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The study population includes all non-cyclical consumer companies listed on the IDX, while the sample was obtained through a purposive sampling method with certain criteria. The data used are secondary data sourced from the companies' annual financial reports. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 27 software, and tested with the classical assumption test, partial test (t-test), simultaneous test (F-test), and coefficient of determination. The research results show that profitability has no significant effect on dividend policy. Similarly, solvency has no significant effect on dividend policy. Simultaneous testing also showed that both variables together had no significant effect on dividend policy. This finding indicates that dividend distribution decisions are more influenced by other factors, such as investment needs, cash flow, and internal company policies. Theoretically, this study supports the concept of residual dividend policy and pecking order theory, which emphasize the importance of using profits to fund investments and maintain financial stability before distributing dividends. Therefore, it can be concluded that profitability and solvency are not dominant factors in determining dividend policy in the non-cyclical consumer sector.
