Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of learning using math puzzles (game-based learning) with free play (play-based learning) in developing spatial abilities of early childhood. This study uses a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. The sample of the study consisted of 30 students, 15 students at TK Inpres Mannurukki (experimental class) and 15 students at TK IT At-Tibyan (control class), with a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were tests and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS 26, including normality tests, variance homogeneity tests, Mann-Whitney tests, Independent Samples t-tests, and N-Gain tests. Qualitative analysis was carried out using thematic analysis. The results showed that in the posttest, the average score of the experimental class (math puzzle) was 76.13, while the control class (free play) reached 84.20. Statistical tests showed a significant difference (p = 0.014), with the control class showing better results. However, the N-Gain test in the experimental class showed moderate effectiveness with an average N-Gain value of 0.599. Interviews with students showed that mathematical puzzle-based learning increased motivation and interest in learning, although some students had difficulty with the level of puzzle difficulty being too high. In contrast, students in the control class felt freer, but needed more guidance to link the game to mathematical concepts. This study concluded that although mathematical puzzles are interesting, free play-based learning is more effective in supporting the overall development of mathematical concepts in early childhood.

Abstract

A number of studies have highlighted the importance of integrating Islamic values in science and social learning in madrasahs, but studies that specifically address the Islamisation of mathematics are still very limited. Most of the current MI curriculum adopts a competency-based approach with very little exploration of the relationship between mathematical concepts and Islamic teachings. This study aims to identify Qur'anic verses related to mathematical concepts, analyse the urgency of applying the Islamisation approach in mathematics learning, and formulate strategies for the integration of Islamic values in the MI mathematics curriculum. This research uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview method. The research was conducted in several MIs that have implemented or attempted to integrate Islamic values in mathematics learning in West Bandung and Makassar. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, academics and curriculum experts. The interviews were semi-structured to allow the respondents the freedom to express their views in depth. This research highlights the importance of integrating Islamic values in mathematics learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah through the Islamisation of science approach. The results showed that although mathematical concepts in the Qur'an have long been recognised, the implementation of the Islamisation approach in the MI curriculum is still limited. Concrete steps are needed to adopt the Islamisation of science approach in mathematics learning in MI. The government and Islamic education institutions need to work together to develop a more integrative curriculum, provide textbooks that reflect the integration of science and Islamic values, and organise training for educators.

Abstract

Youth empowerment in rural areas plays a crucial role in developing the potential and skills of the younger generation to contribute to the progress of society. Lempangang Village, located in Gowa Regency, has great potential to improve the quality of life for its residents, especially the youth, which can be maximized through empowerment programs. One such program designed by the Lempangang Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) to enhance the skills and abilities of the village's youth is the Lempangang English Club (LEC), which aims to improve the youth's English language skills through fun and interactive learning activities. This study aims to analyze the implementation and impact of the LEC program on youth empowerment in Lempangang Village. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, the research gathered data through interviews, observations, and documentation of activities conducted by LEC members. The results show that the LEC program not only enhances the English proficiency of elementary, middle, and high school participants, but also has a positive impact on their self-confidence, social skills, and preparedness for entering the workforce. The program also encourages youth to become more active in social and community activities, thus increasing their role in village development. However, there are challenges faced, such as limited facilities and resources, which need to be addressed to maximize the program’s impact. Therefore, this study recommends strengthening supporting infrastructure, increasing stakeholder involvement, and expanding the program to other villages as part of a broader youth empowerment effort.

Abstract

Training on interactive learning strategies for primary school teachers is an important step in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process. Many teachers still use conventional methods that are less effective in encouraging student engagement. This research focuses on the training provided to teachers of Sumur Bandung Private Primary School with the aim of improving their competence in implementing interactive learning strategies. The implementation method consists of three stages: problem identification, training, and mentoring. The results obtained show an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in utilising interactive learning media, particularly PowerPoint application, to create a more interesting and effective learning atmosphere. With this training, it is expected that the quality of learning at the primary school level can improve, so that students are more motivated and active in the learning process. It is expected to enhance the overall quality of education. Therefore, similar interactive learning strategy training should be conducted regularly to make lesson delivery more engaging and varied.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of Village Deliberation in the discussion and determination of the 2025 Village Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMDES) in Lempangang Village. RPJMDES is a village development planning document prepared for a period of six years, aimed at determining the direction of village development in accordance with community aspirations and local needs. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews with 12 key informants, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the Village Deliberation in Lempangang Village was carried out with a good level of community participation, with over 60% attendance of village residents during the deliberation meetings, although community understanding of the technical aspects of planning still needs to be improved. The village government and the Village Consultative Body (BPD) play a central role in facilitating the deliberation, while decision-making is carried out in a deliberative manner through consensus. This planning process is also aligned with national and regional development programs to optimize external support. Constraints faced in the preparation of RPJMDES include limited budget, resources, and coordination between parties. This study recommends increasing community capacity in development planning, strengthening synergy between the village government and BPD, and optimizing local resources. In conclusion, the Village Deliberation in Lempangang Village has created a strong foundation for inclusive and sustainable village development planning.

Abstract

This research discusses the success of the family planning village that has been implemented in Lempangan Village, Gowa Regency, in significantly reducing stunting rates. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the success factors of this programme. The results show that active community participation, collaboration between the village government, community health centres, and related institutions, and the use of technology in health education are the main keys. In addition, a family-based approach that involves all family members in maternal and child health management also plays an important role in overcoming the problem of stunting. The KB Village model in Lempangang Village can be used as an example for other regions in an effort to reduce stunting and improve the quality of life of the community in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic cultural values in the development of mathematics during the Islamic Golden Age (8th to 13th centuries CE). A historical approach is employed to explore the contributions of Muslim scholars such as Al-Khawarizmi, Al-Battani, and Umar Khayyam in formulating mathematical theories that laid the foundation for modern science. The findings of the research indicate that Islamic cultural values, such as Tawhid (monotheism), Ijtihad (independent reasoning), balance, and responsibility, spurred the emergence of innovations and scientific ideas with universal significance. Institutions like Bayt al-Hikmah became centers of research that integrated spiritual values with the exploration of knowledge. Through these values, mathematics became not only a technical discipline but also one with profound philosophical meaning. This study emphasizes that the integration of Islamic cultural values in science significantly contributed to the advancement of Islamic civilization and the intellectual heritage of the world.
