Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the learning approaches used in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the elementary school level and their role in shaping students’ religious character. The research was motivated by the ongoing gap between students’ mastery of religious knowledge and the internalization of Islamic values in daily life, as many students achieve high academic scores in PAI but still display behaviors that are inconsistent with Islamic teachings. Using a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, the study involved 120 students from three elementary schools MI Madani, MIS Al-Bashirah, and SD Inpres Mannurukki. Quantitative data were obtained from PAI learning outcomes, while qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations to provide contextual insights into the quantitative findings. The quantitative analysis showed no statistically significant correlation (p > 0.05) between PAI learning outcomes and students’ achievements in cognitive subjects such as mathematics and science. However, qualitative findings revealed that PAI teachers applied various strategies emphasizing value internalization, including storytelling, group discussions, reflective learning, and the “One Day One Verse” program, which successfully enhanced students’ enthusiasm, engagement, and moral awareness. These results indicate that PAI learning functions not only cognitively but also affectively and spiritually. In conclusion, reflective, contextual, and interactive learning approaches in PAI contribute substantially to developing students’ understanding and practice of Islamic values. The novelty of this study lies in integrating mixed-method evidence to demonstrate that the formation of religious character depends more on pedagogical approach and teacher commitment than on academic achievement alone. Therefore, strengthening teacher capacity and institutional support is essential to advancing holistic and value-based Islamic education.

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental aspect that must always be developed. Mathematical ability is crucial for early childhood because it can develop logical conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. In this case, mathematical skills in early childhood not only strengthen numerical understanding but also broader cognitive understanding. This study used a quantitative method with an experimental approach involving one pretest-posttest group, without a control group. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Smart Counting method in improving understanding of addition and subtraction operations in early childhood. Using a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, the study involved 30 participants from RA Assyafiq, West Bandung Regency. Results showed a significant improvement in basic maths comprehension, with a mean pretest of 51.87 and posttest of 63.73 (p < 0.05). The Smart Counting method, which combines interactive technology and educational games, is proven to make learning more concrete and fun. Nonetheless, challenges such as the digital divide and lack of teacher training need to be addressed to maximise the effectiveness of this method. This research is expected to contribute to the development of innovative learning methods for early childhood, as well as encourage collaboration between the government, educational institutions, teachers and parents in its implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of speech therapy in overcoming speech delays in early childhood. This study uses an experimental design with a control group, consisting of two classes: an experimental class that receives speech therapy and a control class that follows conventional methods. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method, using a quasi-experimental design, specifically a non-equivalent control group design. The research population consisted of all students from both institutions. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software, and the findings were interpreted in relation to the research hypothesis and theoretical framework. The results showed that at the pretest stage, there was no significant difference between the two groups, and similarly, at the posttest stage, there was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. These comparable results show that the effectiveness of the application depends on the implementation and involvement of the teacher. This study highlights the need for further research to explore additional factors that may influence the effectiveness of speech therapy in overcoming speech delays in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of nature exploration games in honing problem-solving skills in early childhood at RA Al-Jazila Padalarang, West Bandung Regency, with the population consisting of all students at RA Al-Jazila. The sample included 20 students from classes B1, B2, and B3 as the experimental group, and 20 students from class B4 as the control group, selected through purposive sampling. This research adopts a quantitative approach using an experimental method and a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control groups design. Data processing was conducted using SPSS version 26, and non-parametric statistical analysis was performed with the median test. The results show that although there was an increase in the average score in the experimental group, no significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups based on the statistical test. This indicates that nature exploration games did not have a significant impact on improving problem-solving skills in early childhood in this study. However, the study provides an important insight into the need for more structured and sustainable learning designs to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of LEGO games on early childhood spatial abilities and understanding of mathematical concepts. Through a quantitative approach, this study involved children aged 5-6 years at Kober Darul Amanah Kindergarten, West Bandung Regency with a population of all students in the school and a sample of 25 students selected randomly. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method and explanatory research design. This study is included in a causal-correlational study, which is a method to see the relationship or influence between variable X and variable Y without direct manipulation. The sampling technique used is probability sampling with the simple random sampling method. The results of the analysis showed that the data were not normally distributed, with a significance value of 0.017 for spatial ability and 0.016 for mathematical understanding. In addition, the correlation analysis produced a significance value of 0.378, which indicates that there is no significant relationship between LEGO games and increased spatial ability and understanding of children's mathematical concepts. These findings indicate that although LEGO play can be an educational tool, its use in this context is not effective enough to improve both aspects of cognitive development.
