Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the learning approaches used in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the elementary school level and their role in shaping students’ religious character. The research was motivated by the ongoing gap between students’ mastery of religious knowledge and the internalization of Islamic values in daily life, as many students achieve high academic scores in PAI but still display behaviors that are inconsistent with Islamic teachings. Using a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, the study involved 120 students from three elementary schools MI Madani, MIS Al-Bashirah, and SD Inpres Mannurukki. Quantitative data were obtained from PAI learning outcomes, while qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations to provide contextual insights into the quantitative findings. The quantitative analysis showed no statistically significant correlation (p > 0.05) between PAI learning outcomes and students’ achievements in cognitive subjects such as mathematics and science. However, qualitative findings revealed that PAI teachers applied various strategies emphasizing value internalization, including storytelling, group discussions, reflective learning, and the “One Day One Verse” program, which successfully enhanced students’ enthusiasm, engagement, and moral awareness. These results indicate that PAI learning functions not only cognitively but also affectively and spiritually. In conclusion, reflective, contextual, and interactive learning approaches in PAI contribute substantially to developing students’ understanding and practice of Islamic values. The novelty of this study lies in integrating mixed-method evidence to demonstrate that the formation of religious character depends more on pedagogical approach and teacher commitment than on academic achievement alone. Therefore, strengthening teacher capacity and institutional support is essential to advancing holistic and value-based Islamic education.

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental aspect that must always be developed. Mathematical ability is crucial for early childhood because it can develop logical conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. In this case, mathematical skills in early childhood not only strengthen numerical understanding but also broader cognitive understanding. This study used a quantitative method with an experimental approach involving one pretest-posttest group, without a control group. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Smart Counting method in improving understanding of addition and subtraction operations in early childhood. Using a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, the study involved 30 participants from RA Assyafiq, West Bandung Regency. Results showed a significant improvement in basic maths comprehension, with a mean pretest of 51.87 and posttest of 63.73 (p < 0.05). The Smart Counting method, which combines interactive technology and educational games, is proven to make learning more concrete and fun. Nonetheless, challenges such as the digital divide and lack of teacher training need to be addressed to maximise the effectiveness of this method. This research is expected to contribute to the development of innovative learning methods for early childhood, as well as encourage collaboration between the government, educational institutions, teachers and parents in its implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of speech therapy in overcoming speech delays in early childhood. This study uses an experimental design with a control group, consisting of two classes: an experimental class that receives speech therapy and a control class that follows conventional methods. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method, using a quasi-experimental design, specifically a non-equivalent control group design. The research population consisted of all students from both institutions. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software, and the findings were interpreted in relation to the research hypothesis and theoretical framework. The results showed that at the pretest stage, there was no significant difference between the two groups, and similarly, at the posttest stage, there was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. These comparable results show that the effectiveness of the application depends on the implementation and involvement of the teacher. This study highlights the need for further research to explore additional factors that may influence the effectiveness of speech therapy in overcoming speech delays in early childhood.

Abstract

This study examines the strengthening of religious values in cyberspace in Indonesia and Pakistan two countries with the world’s largest Muslim populations and significant influence on contemporary Islamic discourse. The rapid advancement of digital technology and the widespread use of social media have created new arenas for religious transmission, especially among younger generations who are deeply engaged in online communication. In Indonesia, platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok are extensively used by preachers to convey Islamic teachings in creative, simplified, and engaging formats, reflecting an approach rooted in Islamic moderation (Wasathiyah). In contrast, in Pakistan, digital preaching has also flourished but tends to adopt a more conservative tone and operates under stricter government regulation due to historical sectarian tensions and concerns about extremist influence. Employing a qualitative approach with interactive analysis techniques, this study investigates the roles of governments, religious institutions, and civil society in shaping religious narratives within digital spaces. The findings reveal that while both countries acknowledge the transformative potential of cyberspace for promoting religious education and identity formation, they also face persistent challenges such as radicalization, misinformation, and online hate speech. Consequently, the study underscores the importance of strengthening digital religious literacy and fostering collaborative regulatory frameworks to ensure that cyberspace evolves into an inclusive, constructive, and peaceful environment for reinforcing Islamic values. These insights contribute to broader academic discussions on religion, media, and the transformation of Islamic education in the digital age.

Abstract

The Sundanese language skills of elementary school students need to be strengthened through engaging and effective learning approaches. One alternative utilized in this study is the singing method using Sundanese-language songs. This research aims to examine whether the application of the singing method can enhance the Sundanese language skills of elementary school students at Darul Amanah Elementary School, West Bandung Regency. The population consisted of students enrolled in the school, with a sample of 20 students in the experimental class and 17 students in the control class selected through purposive sampling. This study employs a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group structure. Data analysis includes descriptive and inferential statistical techniques assisted by SPSS version 26. The findings indicate that, although both groups showed improvement, there was no significant difference between the experimental and control classes in terms of Sundanese language skill mastery. The independent samples t-test result shows a significance value greater than 0.05, indicating no statistically significant difference. Thus, the singing method did not demonstrate a higher effectiveness compared to conventional learning methods in improving Sundanese language skills among elementary school students. Further studies are recommended to explore different learning strategies or additional influencing factors to obtain more optimal outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between students' mathematics and science learning outcomes using a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. The quantitative method examines the correlation between the two variables through the Spearman test, while the qualitative method explores students' experiences in learning mathematics and science through interviews and observations. The study was conducted at SD Inpres Mannurukki with a sample of 25 fifth-grade students selected using purposive sampling. Statistical analysis results indicate no significant relationship between mathematics and science learning outcomes, with a correlation coefficient of -0.067 and a significance value of 0.750 (> 0.05). Interviews with students revealed that they found science concepts easier to understand due to hands-on experiments, whereas mathematics was perceived as more abstract and challenging. These findings suggest that although mathematics and science are logically related, other factors, such as teaching methods and experimental experiences, play a more dominant role in shaping science comprehension. Therefore, it is recommended to implement integrated learning strategies, such as the STEM approach or project-based learning, to enhance the connection between mathematical and scientific concepts in education.

Abstract

This study employs a quantitative, ex post facto approach to analyze students’ fiqh learning outcomes by school background. The research was conducted in three different schools: SDIT Miftahul Ulum, SDIT Al-Qalam Kendari, and MIS Muhammadiyah Bontoboddia, involving third-grade students from Jakarta, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi. The total sample consists of 69 students, selected using probability sampling with a cluster sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics with One-Way ANOVA. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed. However, due to differences in variance between groups, Levene’s test indicated that the data were not homogeneous. The ANOVA results showed a significant difference in fiqh learning outcomes among the schools. A Post Hoc test using Games-Howell confirmed substantial differences between SDIT Miftahul Ulum and SDIT Al-Qalam Kendari, as well as between SDIT Al-Qalam Kendari and MIS Muhammadiyah Bontoboddia, but no significant difference between SDIT Miftahul Ulum and MIS Muhammadiyah Bontoboddia. These findings indicate that implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach in Islamic studies lessons yields varying impacts across schools.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the influence of learning styles (kinesthetic, visual, and auditory) and gender on early childhood counting skills at Inpres Mannurukki Kindergarten, TKIT At-Tibyan, and Bone Kindergarten. The research method used was quantitative with an experimental design. The sample consisted of 45 students, with 17 male students and 28 female students, who were divided based on the learning styles applied. Data were collected through measurement of children's counting skills and analysed using descriptive statistical test, normality test, Levene test, and Two-Way ANOVA test. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the mean scores of the counting skills of male and female students varied depending on the learning style applied. Kinesthetic learning style gives good results for students who are actively moving, visual learning style is more effective with the use of digital media, and auditory learning style shows good results with the use of songs and rhythms. The Two-Way ANOVA test showed that there was no significant difference between learning styles on children's numeracy skills, but there was a significant difference between gender and the interaction between learning styles and gender. Boys excel in auditory and kinesthetic learning styles, while girls excel in visual learning styles. This study concludes that learning that is tailored to learning styles and gender characteristics can improve early childhood numeracy comprehension. The implication of this research is the need for a differentiated learning approach according to children's needs to maximise learning outcomes.
