Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of compensation on employee work motivation. The sample consists of  employees of PT. Insolent Raya consisted of 32 respondents using the probability sampling method. The analysis used was validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, and simple linear regression analysis. The results of this research show that the t test shows that there is a significant influence between the compensation variable (X) on the motivation variable (Y). The constant of 18.054 means that if the value of the compensation variable (X) is equal to 0, then the value of employee work motivation (Y) is 18.054. The compensation variable (X) has a positive regression coefficient. In other words, if the value of compensation (X) increases by 1 unit, then employee work motivation (Y) increases by the value of the regression coefficient or 0.535 times or 53.50%.

Abstract

According to Maslow (in Greenberg and Baron, 1997:145), defines that every human being has many biological needs (Phsycological needs), safety needs (safety needs), social needs (social needs), esteem needs (esteem needs), and self-actualization needs. With these work needs, employees also have both material and non-material needs, for example the need for clothing, food, shelter, the need to feel accepted by others where they live and work, the need to live to be able to achieve, the need for security while working, and a feeling of security concerning their future, and many other needs that can be obtained from the place where they work. With the many human needs as employees who work in a company, according to Widyarto Adi PS (Human Resource Management article number 107/ September - October 1996) Companies must be proactive and responsible in responding to all changes that occur and how to overcome the impact of changes that occur on the HR management function. The change in the role of HR is caused by the pressure caused by developments that occur everywhere, in the social, economic, cultural, technological, environmental, and other fields. In this economic recession, all companies are competing fiercely to survive and even then they need help from the employees who work in them. Along with that, technological progress is increasingly rapid and unpredictable, so that it requires everyone involved in the company to be able to continue to follow these developments by learning new things so as not to be left behind. Therefore, the company must help employees to realize this by providing appropriate training.

Abstract

Marketers generally want that the customers they create can be maintained forever. This is not an easy task considering that changes can occur at any time, both changes in customers such as tastes and psychological aspects and changes in environmental conditions that affect the psychological, social and cultural aspects of customers (Dharmmesta, 1999). Marketing strategies that aim to create and maintain customer loyalty include marketing strategies that are oriented towards long-term relationships (relationship marketing). The first understanding of relationship marketing lies in its difference with discrete transactions. Discrete transactions emphasize a short-term relationship pattern. While relationship transactions emphasize more on long-term relationship patterns (Gronhaug, et al., 1999). Berry and Parasuraman (1992) consider that relationship marketing is an effort to attract, develop and strengthen relationships between two parties. The parties involved are not limited to the relationship between producers and sellers, but also to the relationship between producers and service users. While Morgan and Hunt (1994) look more at all activities directly related to compiling, developing, and maintaining reciprocal relationships between service providers and service users.

Abstract

This paper presents a community-based approach to optimize waste management planning in Cangkringsari village, located in Indonesia. The project employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology, combining academic theory with practical community engagement to design and implement a sustainable waste processing system. The project’s objectives were to create a comprehensive waste management plan, develop community awareness regarding waste segregation, and implement an integrated waste processing system. The approach involved participatory action research (PAR), where local community members collaborated in the planning, design, and execution phases. As a result, the community successfully developed a sustainable waste management plan that addressed local environmental challenges while promoting long-term community involvement. The outcomes of the project indicate significant improvements in waste processing efficiency and community engagement, with a noticeable reduction in environmental pollution. This paper concludes by discussing the implications of the community-based approach for broader waste management practices and provides recommendations for further development and scaling of the project. The project highlights the importance of local involvement in addressing environmental issues and emphasizes the role of service learning in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world solutions

Abstract

This paper proposes a Participatory Action Research (PAR) framework to enhance learning support in Islamic boarding schools post-COVID-19. The framework consists of five stages: problem identification, planning, action, reflection, and evaluation, and is designed to ensure the involvement and engagement of all stakeholders in decision-making. The PAR approach was implemented in three pesantrens in East Java, Indonesia, involving 45 teachers, 90 students, and 60 parents. The results showed that the PAR approach enabled active participation and collaboration among stakeholders, leading to the identification of key challenges, development of an action plan, and implementation of various interventions. The reflection and evaluation stages allowed for continuous feedback and improvement, resulting in positive outcomes such as increased student engagement, improved teacher performance, and strengthened parent-school relationships. The findings suggest that the PAR approach can effectively enhance learning support in Islamic boarding schools post-COVID-19 and can be adapted in different contexts and settings. The proposed framework can serve as a model for reviving and revitalizing Islamic boarding school education post-COVID-19, and can help ensure sustainable development

Abstract

This research is motivated by the rapid development of technology, which has led to the emergence of various new products, particularly in the mobile phone category, intensifying market competition. Mobile phones have become essential items in daily life, making it increasingly difficult for mobile phone brands to stand out. As a result, companies strive to attract consumers by leveraging product features. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of brand image and self-concept on purchasing decisions. Data was collected using a questionnaire with purposive sampling technique on 89 respondents who use mobile phones. The population consists of male and female students at Universitas 45 Surabaya. The independent variables in this study are brand image, self-concept, and purchase decision. Hypothesis testing using multiple regression analysis shows that both independent variables significantly influence the dependent variable (purchase decision). The R-value of 0.718 indicates a strong relationship, close to 1, and the coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.515.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Activity Based Costing (ABC) method in cost calculation for service units at the Orthopedic & Traumatology Hospital in Surabaya and to compare the results with the conventional costing method currently used by the hospital. Design/methodology/approach: The studies employ a descriptive-comparative method with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The data used include the hospital’s financial reports, particularly unit-level income statements, as well as information from interviews regarding activities and costs within each service unit. Data analysis was carried out in three stages: documenting costs, identifying activities and cost drivers, and calculating costs using the ABC method. Findings: The results show that the ABC method provides more accurate and relevant cost calculations because it is based on the actual activities performed in each unit. Cost calculations using ABC also yield more reasonable unit-level profit and loss results compared to the conventional method, which still allocates costs based on revenue percentages. These findings indicate that applying the ABC method can assist hospital management in determining fairer, more transparent service rates that reflect the resource consumption of each unit. Paper type: Research paper.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the extent to which motivation and work discipline affect the performance of BAZNAS employees throughout East Java. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to 88 respondents using a descriptive quantitative approach. The data analysis technique employed was statistical analysis through multiple linear regression tests. The results of the study indicate that both motivation and work discipline, both partially and simultaneously, have a significant effect on the performance of BAZNAS employees throughout East Java. This finding is supported by the results of simultaneous tests (F-tests) and partial tests (t-tests), which show the significance values of the two independent variables that support the research hypothesis. Specifically, motivation was found to positively influence employee performance, while work discipline also played a key role in enhancing the performance of employees. The findings suggest that when employees are motivated and disciplined in their work, their performance tends to improve. These results are important for management, as they imply that to enhance employee performance, BAZNAS should focus on both increasing motivation through various incentives and improving work discipline by establishing clear rules and monitoring mechanisms. In conclusion, this study confirms that there is a joint influence between motivation and work discipline on the performance of BAZNAS employees throughout East Java, indicating that both factors are essential in driving organizational success
