Abstract

Balinese batik, a traditional cloth, is rich in motifs and philosophical meanings that reflect the culture of the Balinese people and need to be preserved. Preservation efforts aim to ensure that the knowledge contained in Balinese batik can be sustainable in the long term. This study examined the knowledge and preservation of Balinese batik cloth to preserve indigenous knowledge. This study used a qualitative method by analyzing the knowledge contained in Balinese batik cloth using Peirce's semiotic approach and a case study to explore the preservation efforts carried out by the UPTD Bali Museum. The data collection technique used interview and observation methods, which were conducted from May to June 2024. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation (data display), and conclusion. Study results showed that if examined more deeply, Balinese batik contained philosophical meanings that reflected the culture of Balinese society due to the influence of Hinduism and local values. Balinese batik motifs were also inseparable from the influence of Chinese cultural elements that contain spiritual and mythological values. The Bali Museum conducted preservation efforts through processes such as identifying and validating knowledge in local communities and academic circles, recording and storing this knowledge in a database, and disseminating it to the broader community. This study concludes that Peirce's semiotics can assist in identifying the indigenous knowledge of Balinese batik, and in this case, the Bali Museum plays an important role in preserving local wisdom.

Abstract

Local Government in the development of super priority tourist destinations has a very important role in supporting the success of tourism development. This means that the Regional Government has broader authority for its territory, the implications of the increasing duties and responsibilities to explore and develop all the potential natural resources owned by the region to sustain the regional development journey. With this regulation, the Regional Government has the flexibility to develop its tourism destination. Determining how the Toba Samosir Regency local government has implemented its policy regarding the development of the Lake Toba super-priority destination is the sole objective of this study. This is a qualitative form of research. Communications, resources, disposition, bureaucratic structure, and disposition are the four tenets of policy implementation proposed by Edward's theory, which is the framework utilized. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Toba Samosir Regency local government regulation policy in the development of Lake Tiba super priority tourism destinations has been running effectively by the specified policy, although there are still obstacles in several areas such as communication and resources that have not been optimally realized.

Abstract

Kurungkambing Village, located in Mandalawangi District, Banten, has significant local potential that remains underutilized due to the lack of structured data and limited village planning capacity. The gap between local resource mapping and strategic planning poses a major challenge in achieving sustainable development. To address this issue, the Community Service Program (PkM) of Universitas Terbuka was designed to strengthen the capacity of village officials through training and mentoring in village potential mapping based on village planning worksheets. This approach follows four key stages: input, process, output, and impact, aimed at establishing a more systematic, data-driven, and sustainable village development plan. The PkM activities include field surveys, socialization, technical training, mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation. The primary objective of this program is to develop a village potential database as a foundation for formulating more accurate policies and development strategies. Village officials can create more effective and strategic data-driven policies with this database. The program's sustainability requires synergy between academics, local government, and the village community to ensure data-driven development that enhances community welfare. Keywords: database, planning capacity, strategic planning, sustainable development, village potential. Abstrak: Desa Kurungkambing, Kecamatan Mandalawangi, Banten, memiliki potensi lokal yang belum optimal karena keterbatasan data terstruktur dan kapasitas perencanaan desa. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of smart campuses across various higher education institutions in Indonesia and to identify the challenges and strategies involved in supporting the three pillars of higher education (tridarma). Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with six informants consisting of lecturers, students, and IT experts from both academic universities and vocational institutions. The findings indicate significant variation in the adoption of smart campus technologies, influenced by infrastructure readiness, digital literacy levels, and institutional priorities. Academic universities tend to adopt administrative and digital learning systems more rapidly, while vocational institutions focus on the practical application of technology for industrial training. The main challenges identified include limited access to internet infrastructure and digital devices, as well as low digital literacy, particularly among senior faculty and students. In response, many institutions have initiated digital literacy training and the development of integrated information systems. This study highlights the need for a standardized and adaptable smart campus framework tailored to each institution’s context. Furthermore, collaboration between universities and technology providers is considered essential for accelerating campus-wide digital transformation. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and institutional leaders in formulating more effective, sustainable, and inclusive strategies for smart campus development in the era of digital transformation in higher education.

Many companies have adapted their marketing strategies to focus on digital media to overcome the limitations of face-to-face communication. Pixbox, an Indonesian local shipping company, has created brand awareness through digital marketing, including social media platforms, to attract customers and promote their services. This study aims to determine how the Pixbox creative team creates digital marketing content on social media. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews and analyzing them using qualitative methods. The study focused on the Pixbox marketing content creator team and their social media activities, using purposive sampling to select participants and qualitative data analysis techniques to analyze the data. This study indicated that in creating exciting content, the content creator team of Pixbox carried out three stages, namely the pre-production stage, trying to plan content by thinking about how the purpose of the content will be, the production stage as a stage of content creation strategy as well as publishing it. The post-production stage, as the content evaluation stage, shows that the achievement of content creation on social media has an impact on increasing Pixbox brand awareness/customers, which is targeted at young entrepreneurs. Pixbox’s content creator team creates exciting marketing content in three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production, successfully increasing brand awareness and customer orders. Suggestions for improvement include better planning and research in the pre-production stage, exploring other social media platforms, and constantly evaluating content creation.
