Abstract

The culture of several regions in Indonesia has a tradition of welcoming guests in the form of traditional dance performances. This study intends to find out the traditions and developments of the welcoming dance at this time. In addition, this study suggests reasons why guests need to be presented with a performance in Minang, Bugis, Palembang and Javanese culture. This research reveals values and meanings so that the characteristics and developments that a culture can carry out in honoring guests can be identified. The method used is qualitative by conducting in-depth interviews with traditional Minang, Bugis, Palembang and Solo artists. The findings in this study indicate that the main motive for guests to be respected and exalted in an area is because guests are considered "kings" by the four cultures. The context of being “raja” refers to two things: First, because this dance is really danced to welcome the king, as explained in the Paduppa, Selik Tubu and Gambyong dances. Second, the term "king" is just a parable so that the guests are treated as best as possible like a king. When the guests are "kingled", it is hoped that they will establish good relations and return to visit the area. This good relationship is symbolized by giving banquets to guests, such as cake, betel, gambir, tambakau, areca nut. By experiencing this banquet, it is hoped that the guests will also feel the bitterness of life that is felt by the community, so that later it will foster a sense of sympathy and empathy for the guests to uphold mutual respect and respect for one another.

Abstract

Distance Education has great potential to become a model for the world's future education. The rapid development of technology, the demands of the global professional world, as well as various extraordinary events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic which could recur at any time, are the main reasons for the need to implement distance education. Therefore, to maintain the existence of distance education, research is needed that can look at perceptions of brand equity, namely brand awareness and brand association with perceived quality. This research aims to explain how society accepts open and distance state colleges, particularly among students in Indonesia. The research subjects were 812 respondents obtained through probability sampling using multistage random sampling from three regions in Indonesia, namely Vocational High School Bina Warga Bandung representing western Indonesia, Public High School 16 Makassar representing Central Indonesia, and Public High School 1 Jayapura representing the eastern part of Indonesia. The results of the research show that there is a strong relationship between brand awareness and community brand association on the desire to continue studying at open and distance higher education institutions. This research providing recommendations for PTJJ should not only focus on promotion/marketing strategies to increase interest in continuing community studies at PTJJ but also focus on strategies that can increase brand equity.

Abstract

Abstract: The university needs to know what factors influence student behavior in determining distance learning. It is very necessary as a way to formulate an optimal marketing strategy. This study aimed to determine the influence of student behavior factors consisting of cultural, social, personal, and psychological factors in determining decisions to take distance learning at the Universitas Terbuka. This study's population was UT students registered in the 2023-1 semester, as many as 439,222 students. From this population, there were 10,119 students as respondents with quota sampling techniques from all branch offices throughout Indonesia and abroad. The data analysis technique used is Multiple Linear Analysis with the Enter Method and the SPSS 25.0 for Windows program. The results showed that the student's behavior strongly influenced their decisions in choosing a distance learning system. The main factors shaping student behavior in determining decisions to study remotely are social factors, such as social status and the role of students in society, as well as the personality factors of the students themselves, such as the personal decisions of students in understanding their needs for distance learning systems that are following the conditions they face. In addition to these two factors, cultural factors of residence and student psychology also shape student behavior in determining decisions to study remotely. By knowing these factors, it is hoped can continue to compete with other universities that also organize distance learning courses so that it is always expected to be the first choice of students to participate in the distance learning system. Keywords: Consumer Behavior, Purchasing Decisions, Distance Learning, Multiple Linear Analysis
